    OOOOOO
    We use sago to make pudding in South Africa, so it was bizarre to see it in pie sauce
    Definitely want to try this recipe for my Hospitality task
    Looks almost like the ones sold in our local bakery👀

      Hi Jennifer! I'm also South African! Sago actually makes the gravy thick and its similar to the pepper steak pies sold at the local bakeries! Try it and let me know what you think! 😊

      Do we have to use sago it feels so strange to use sago in food other than pudding. Is there maybe a substitute?

    • @j3nn8f3r
      @j3nn8f3r Před 3 lety

      @@kesiajacobs9174 often times you'd find a sauce thickener, such as a paste made from corn starch or flour and milk, used in the sauce recipes. The sago method in this recipe will be thickening as it cooks in the pot. If you want to use the milk paste method you'll need to be more careful not to make lumps on accident.
      ༼⁰^⁰;༽ I think...

      @@tastymealsandtreats I was just wondering why you are using a Cape Malay method of using sago in your pie 😅....

      Hey Tebogo, thank you so much! I've shared my pie recipe that I have been using over the years. You can buy the ready made Puff or Butter pastry, from the local stores. I make my own, a recipe that I will be posting soon.... 😊

    We’re making these later today, but I’m curious. Steak and Chop or Bbq rub, as described, what would that include? Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, something green…? Thanks!

    • @tastymealsandtreats
      @tastymealsandtreats  Před 12 dny +1

      Thank you for watching! I have used the Robertsons Steak & Chops Seasoning. You can substitute with any BBQ seasoning dry rub, or a Cajun Seasoning should do! It adds a little flavour…

  • @nyashagracemaunganidze9513

    How do i operate the heat, do i use both upper and lower heat or just the lower

    • @tastymealsandtreats
      @tastymealsandtreats  Před rokem

      Thank you for watching! ❤️ Use the upper and lower oven heat setting, so that the pies bake evenly both sides!

    What is sago?

    • @tastymealsandtreats
      @tastymealsandtreats  Před 3 lety +4

      Sago is used as a thickener, its starchy, similar to topioca. You can substitute the Sago with 1 tbsp of Cornstarch / Cornflour if no Sago is available!
