The writers are nailing the social commentary. Exactly the way X-Men is supposed to. And I'm LOVING it.
I hope Iger doesn't send a horde of executives to studio note a live-action X-men to death. Because this shows so much promise.
@@laurab7049what are you even saying
@@MrMelonGuyDude That they're hoping when we get a live action MCU X-Men there isn't heavy studio interference that makes it less willing to delve into social commentary like this.
It is nicely done, not on your face and high quality at the same time
@@gymnodinium9its very in your face tho (every Magneto speech in ep2. Berto terrified to come out to his parents), and thats a good thing. Its X-Men after all
I took it that Xavier felt Gambit die in the attack on Genosha. He felt all the mutants die and that is why he is returning. It's like a "great disturbance in the force" when Alderaan was destroyed.
I understood it that way as well.
But interestingly enough...not Magneto...🤔
Dude pulled an Optimus Prime; he gets one free respawn.
I took it that way as well.
@@brianewing5778 Magneto was next to Leech. The sentinel was searching for an omega level mutant. I think Leech took enough of Erik's power that it no longer looked like an omega was there, so the sentinel assumed that meant dead.
I love that it appears Storm created her new outfit from the feathers of the Owl Demon, she blows it's black feathers up and then they go by her as the outfit is forming. I guess symbolically it's her conquering & merging with her Shadow-Self to become Self-Actualized.
YES! To all of that! Namaste
Yes that was perfect symbolism
SHE WEARS HER FALLEN ENEMY'S CARCASS LIKE A SHROUD
Storm has occasionally been shown to be able to materialize her own costume with her powers in the comics and even in the original ‘90s animated series. I’m not exactly clear on the specifics of how, but it’s worth noting that she does have a cosmic level of power that involves manipulating elemental forces beyond just those within our atmosphere. Thor considers her to be his equal in terms of weather-manipulating power and he’s a god. She, herself, is also considered a goddess through lineage and she’s even been able to create a Bifrost Bridge by recreating Asgardian atmospheric conditions. Compared to the stuff she pulls off in the comics, creating a costume out of thin air pales in comparison.
Maybe it's just me, but the theme playing during Storm's power up sounded like a combination of the Man of Steel and Vegeta themes and I love it
9:13 That was my exact reaction to Earth being called "Milky Way Ghetto" ... I was like "Girl!" But she's right haha 😂😂
Freak fluids 😂😂😂
Great seeing Storm in her original costume! As to the Shi'ar hair in live action, look no further than BABYLON 5's Centauri.
I always assumed they were feathers. The Shi'ar are supposed to be descended from an avian species. Reading the comics, I always assumed that they had crests of feathers.
Yup!
"My children of the atom, Destroyed!" Literal. Chills. ❤❤
It's a crime Storm never got this much character development in live action. Poor Halle Berry.
Pretty much everyone not named Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine and Rogue
@@cruelangel8689 and even Rogue they did dirty
I think she wasn't right for the role anyway
@@gymnodinium9 agree. I do like her as an actress tho. I really hope they do the original Rogue, as in they give her miss marvel's powers in the live actions.
@@mrshade810she too! Anna Paquinn is awesome.
When Deathbird called earth a “Milky Way ghetto” I was like “Hey! Wait, no, she’s right” 😂
She was out of line.
But she wasn't wrong.😂

Can you explain? I don't get why everybody I am watching react to this is specifically laughing at the ghetto part.
The look Adam gives at 1:34 realizing how much more difficult Jay just made his job for not just this video, but ALL future edits- Golden. Get's my pReview'd Stamp of Approval 👍🏼

@@pReviewd ALL OF US.
Xavier in this episode was the epitome of, "if they're better in their game, drag them into yours and beat them with experience"
And that is why he is my favorite X-Man.
Yes, that’s Gabriel Summers
Vulcan!!!
I was so flabbergasted by that. Didnt expect to see him untill at least late season 2
I can't believe X-Men '97 just destroyed Colonialism.
We have a LOOOONNNNGGG way to go before we as humanity get to be on the same page. Just the mere fact of people having different opinions is something not everyone can get behind. Why do you think democracy is struggling?
Charles visison at the end was him psychically feeling and witnessing the events of Genosha as it was happening both storm and Charles were witnessing the events of genosha an episode ago. So we were shown what they were doing in this episode during the party and trip to genosha and this episode ended with them seeing the elimination of genosha
Feel so bad for Xavier, he talks about the X-Men like their his children and him sensing Gambit die is like him feeling like his son has passed away.
That's actually the outfit Storm wore in her first appearance in the comics right up into her leather and mohawk era in the 80's and she also wore it in X-Men arcade game and the Pryde of the X-Men cartoon.
The X-Men have always tackled the hard-hitting questions around coexistence! That’s why so many resonate with the storylines.
Great reaction!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
One of the many reasons why X-Men hits home with millions of people. It boggles my mind that idiots accuse the X-Men of being "woke," as they foolishly put it.
I totally lost it when Ororo manifested her classic black outfit. She looks amazing 😍
Seeing Strom get her powers back was just an incredible moment! This is why I love X-Men stories so much!
Totally agree EPIC
Vulcan just chilling in the scene like it’s no big thing 👀
Magical Girl Suit Up Sequence Engage!
Again!
I guess we can call him... "Charles Bark-ly".
What say you, Cary Grant?🤔😏
Cary Grant: "Get out!"
10/10 😂
Keep him away from those San Antonio women. 😂
"Earth greatest warrior! He fought Godzilla".
Lmaoooo
I think Storm had somehow tapped into her ancestrial lineage that had been laying dormant as well; because she is the daughter of two very powerful sorcerer's. 🤔😕
I was thinking this as an explanation for her magical girl transformation. Then I remembered her using lightning to change clothes like one time st least in the original. I remember it not making sense then either 😅
@@gokidd2242 Well she GREW HER HAIR OUT, so.#MAGICK.
The end of this episode is meant to coincide with the ending of the previous episode. So we saw Xavier picking up on the psychic shockwave resulting from all of the mutant deaths on Genosha.
The Adversary gives me serious Secret of NIMH vibes
Yes! I immediately thought of the Great Owl 🦉
The fact that Xavier saw the ghost of Gambit but not Magneto seems to make it clear that Magneto is still alive. I know that the weird tri-sentinel (or whatever it was) said that the Omega-level threat had been eliminated, but it occurs to me now that Magneto was holding onto Leech. Assuming they both survived that blast, if Leech had used his powers to diminish Magneto's right after that blast, then he might no longer have been detected by that sentinel as an Omega-level threat. I was wondering before how they were going to bring Magneto back since there was no way they were going to leave him dead, but now, I'm thinking that he's probably still alive.
Jay was TRULY feeling Storm's outfit... and I loved watching every minute of it. 😆😂😆😂😉😁
Concerning how to do Shi'ar hair in live action, the comics and Marvel guides say it's not hair but feathers (as Shi'ar are descended from bird-like life forms rather than mammals). So basically, it would be skull gaps and feathered head-gear (which could still look weird, yeah).
Imperial Guard-Marvel’s version of DC Legion of Superheroes
Gladiator is one of three Marvel's Superman parodies. With Hyperion and Sentry the other.
@@hamhockbeans With Kallark (nice touch) there being based off Mon-El. Hyperion has always felt like your standard Superman while Sentry is Golden Age?
Except if the Golden Age Superman was also an insane person who was a drug junkie @@snukastyle
@@hamhockbeans yea. He’s from Squadron Supreme- Marvel’s version of the JLA. lol.
@@A_Fighter2000 Yeah that was the part where I was having trouble making a comparison.
I love that Storm just manifests a new costume and everyone is just like yeah, that's awesome so I don't care that it doesn't make a lick of sense.
Her mutation isn’t the only source of her power.
@@mileshill7196 Yeah, but that hasn't really even been hinted at yet, here.
**waves hands** welcome to comic books. Come, stay a while, do
... and a demon bird appearing from the desert to torment her somehow *does* make sense? The ability to fly into the upper atmosphere, where there is almost no breathable air, does make sense? A cactus that somehow magically heals a bird demons bite, does make sense? Mutants with powers instead of rampant cancer or defects do make sense?
It's called suspension of disbelief for a reason.
@@dex7491_ Yes, thank you for explaining my point to me.
Babe wake up Jay and Adam have another Lips-men 97 reaction. What a time to be alive!
Something I recently learned. Storm's 90s white suit was actually black with white highlights. They did the same thing with Spider-man. His costume was meant to be black and red with blue highlights. They took the highlights to be the main color and it became red and blue.
the wild sentinel just taught his son gnarly sentinel how to kickflip lmfaoo
Omega level restored!
We’re going to see Gambit alive again, no doubt. That’s enough for me.
I started singing Show Yourself from Frozen 2 when Storm got her powers back.
Storm is the better Elsa and no one can change my mind
2:45, Don't you point at me, Adam, and yell, "Nimrod!" You're the Nimrod!
I’m pretty sure Charles seeing the skeletons was him feeling the death of all the mutants across the cosmos because before that he was talk about how they were dancing and drinking as in he was just checking on them
Yeah he most likely just got a mental vision which are often symbolic
And yes, that was Scott's brother, Vulcan!!!
His Father, I thought?
@@SethRGrayCorsair is his father
Love seeing everyone's reaction to milky way ghetto 😂😂😂
Deathbird was out of line. But she's not wrong. 😏
Me: "Vulcan!?"
Also me: "Aw crap. not Vulcan. But they can pull it off IF they decide to explore his character.
Charles bringin that BIG👏🏼TEACHER👏🏼ENERGY👏🏼 and we LOVE TO SEE IT
I was on board with a fair amount of Storm's deal being a Spider-Man 2 style "mental block".
Or Web Block.
06:27 Remember Babylon 5? I see live action Shi'ar like the male Centauri in B5
Very curious for this response. Last week’s episode went straight to denial so fast! But it doesn’t look like they’re gonna time travel their way out of this, especially if they’re now in the MCU multiverse. Changing the past doesn’t alter the future, just makes a new branch.
Can't time travel until the fallout. You think Scott right now is thinking about time travel. There is about to be a all out war.
The writers want us to see and fill the consequences, and escalation of what happened last week, and what’s coming next. Time travel is coming, but only once it gets much much worse. I think they are going to do the Age of Apocalypse story+The Fall of the Shiar Empire…which means a nuclear war, the skies filled with centinals, and the avengers join the x-men (briefly before also dying heroically). Of course, nothing is confirmed until we see the next 3 episodes, but they might go with the story where Gambit becomes Death, Magneto becomes War, and 2 other horsemen are selected (one story has storm become famine…but not sure if they would do that since she just got her powers back). I personally think we are going to see more characters die, than cable or bishop time slide so that Rogue can save Gambit & Magneto. Genosha will likely still get hit hard, but nowhere near the millions of deaths will occur, which will give the world time to strike back at Sinester and Apocalypse before their plan can pop off.
That's pre-Loki MCU. Time travel is a thing again!
@@jaym.g.5789 Not necessarily. Alternate time lines were always being born, the TVA just pruned them before they grew into full branches. Now they don’t prune anymore. That didn’t change the rules about the consequences of time travel; it just allows alternate timelines to exist.
"milkway ghetto" has become a meme and pop culture history already, trending everywhere xD Funny enough the writer of this show has been fired by Disney, the rumors are because he's got a gay onlyfans page (or that he's difficult to work with). They better be begging to get him back, because this whole season so far has been a masterpiece.
Yeahhhhh, white executives calling a gay black man "difficult to work with" without specific allegations is uhhhhhh not something I'm going to uncritically accept as fact?
@@amy_grace I many a comment on another reaction where you can literally google difficult to work celebrities and so many of them are super successful Yet somehow a black one can't be? I need details, not just going to accept it either.
6:21 i feel they've accomplished that Hair in Babylon 5
Great point.
Storm has her powers back. Xavier is returning to Earth. We've established that Sinister is behind the attack, probably as revenge for them taking Cable away.
Oh yeah, we're putting the gang back together for one more grand adventure.
Watching these episodes don’t feel complete without seeing y’all’s reaction
8:50 Charles puts the X in XXX lol
Yes, that was Cyclop's other brother, Vulcan.
Ya'll's reaction to Milky Way Ghetto is fkn priceless!
4:40 Always nice to hear a reference to monty pyhton when I'm not expecting one
This episode was amazing.. I know I’m late but I hope we see time travel in next week’s episode Xavier can fix it
Fun fact: Lilandra's 'hair ' is actually feathers.
the only ones that doesn't know that Xavier is actually is alive is well Roberto and the real Jean grey
I loved that, as soon as you guys started talking about space, I was thinking "What a coinkydink!"
That’s Gabriel Summers, aka Vulcan, Scott’s brother
That is, in fact, Vulcan
1. #MilkyWayGhetto
2. That Storm flying sequence is ripped straight out of Man of Steel.
Your Speechless Reaction immediately after the episode is priceless. ❤
Charles in that armor and them trying to wipe his mind, has me like, "Do you want Strife, cuz that's how you get Strife?!"
His students don't think he's dead they know he left.. only one that might not is magneto, but all his students said goodbye to him they knew where he was going
He left while on his deathbed with only a slim chance of survival even with Shiar tech. They then haven't heard anything about his situation for a long time, so I am fairly certain most of them believe he is gone.
It took me 3 watches to get the Adversary is Storm's voice. They've done some effects but it's definitely her.
ok gentlemen, that storm shirt... I NEED IT! 🤩
Seeing Nimrod in the opening fills like a big Hint at what they are doing next. Also, in the comics, am I the only one who thinks Nimrods human form looks like who wants to open a KFC?
Xavier's Classroom was a FLEX.
Y’all’s reaction to the Prof. X reveal was 👌
There's gonna be a lot of Storm costumes's this Halloween due to this episode. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good!
Women have been wearing that CLASSIC X-MEN Storm costume for decades. Almost 50 years. I'm glad what was old is now back in fashion.
I think the Adversary became Forge's enemy because of a fail spell in the comics. I think Forge was trying to save or bring back his friend from an ambush during the Vietnam war.
Look at that. It's a All-New, All-Different Storm!
Can’t wait to see the behind the scenes on this intro 🤣
Storms wardrobe update 🔥🔥🔥
Yes that was the third summers brother in the beginning, can’t believe they added Vulcan to this universe
"milky way ghetto" and "Inferior freak fluids" still gets me🤣🤣☠☠
Milky Way Ghetto 😂😂
I really hope we get this badass version of Storm when she finally shows up in the MCU
The Xavier mask reminds me more of when Star Trek TNG got weird at the end and Data became that sun god or whatever it was and he had that funky looking mask lol
I don’t know that anyone did anything the Charles. Millions dying on his home world? That’s going to have a hell of a psychic reverb.
I would have a deep and relative opinion on this episode but, GYATT DAMN STORM NEW(old) OUTFIT IS HAAAAAWT.
Between the possibility of onslaught with charles and eric being at their breaking points and the shiar war getting out of control i know charles coming back to earth is a bad idea but if he abandoned his people the shiar shouldnt expect him to not abandon them , and this might earn gladiators respect enough to maybe slow vulcan down if he attacks ,deathbird set charles up in a no win situation especially with the mind wipe attempt
Onslaught MUST be saved for Live-action. IMO he's the perfect story for the next-next phase of MCU. Next phase of Secret Wars brings the X-men and FF to the MCU, and then you do an Infinity War/Endgame build (like, 10 years of building the X-Men and FF universes) and let it all come into a head with Onslaught saga. By then (we're talking 15+ years from today), the MCU would be due for another reboot/reset with reborn.
Shi'ar hair is just Centauri hair from Babylon 5
That is not Storm's Astonishing Costume. It is actually her original costume from Giant Size X-men 1, 1975
Correct.
My favorite costume worn by her.
Sinister evil laugh
Hello Adam, I just wanted to comment on your latest video that I had no idea you wrote for one episode of Parish!! I'm watching ep 2 right now
And the show runner was fired, why? This relaunch has been killing it.
It IS interesting that it's still been kept under wraps for this long.
9:13 the gasp reaction is the first correct one I've seen. Good f'n job.
Is it only me. But has anyone else noticed that jeans' hair has changed in the intro after the og came back?
Yup. Real Jean has a ponytail. Madelyn wears her hair down.
Can't wait to see what Sinister designs are in store for us.
The way it is going, I think we get Mutant Massacre and maybe Fall of the Mutants in the final 3 episodes, then we go to the Outback years for season 2. I would much rather go that route than Onslaught.
I love that Forge's shamanic magic looks like Dr Strange magic.
“Milky Way GHETTO.”
Sis meant that. And more. 😭😭😭
I am subscribing on the strength of the stamp of approval.
Owlman and Clockwork appreciate your approval
you guys are yapping away and probably didn't hear forge say he learned some of that magic from his mother :p Happy Friday!!!!!!
Just an fyi - Shi’ar are an evolved avian race. Their ‘hair’ is closer to feathers.
I’m sure costuming and VFX could make it work in live action.
Deathbird was created by Chris Claremont when he was the writer on Ms Marvel in the 70's. He often found ways to pull the characters, he originated in lesser known books into the X-Men. I'm pretty sure he was like "Deathbird and the Shi'Ar have feathers, let's make her Lilandra's sister." I believe she was denied succession to the throne, because her wings were considered a regressive trait...frowned upon my their society. Interesting she criticizes Charles for being inferior.
I’m getting the feeling we will see onslaught in the future
This show is very much written for the people who grew up watching the original imo.
Turns out Professor Xavier is alive and well! Also STORM IS BACK BABY!!!
6:30 Has somebody forgotten "The Phantom Menace"? I have no doubt Marvel can pull off the Shiar costumes, including the head pieces.
I give this episode 5 out of 5 inferior freak fluids. LOL And if they continue on with the storyline from the comics... we may be heading into The Brood War.
