If I’m not mistaken that runway is something like 8,600 above sea level. I was there in 1973 with 2 P3 Orions. The APU wouldn’t start one of the planes so we used the 2nd planes prop wash to help get it going. We had met some ladies out age in vacationing in Cartagena and met up with them to go dancing In Bogota. I was in shape but the altitude killed me.Ive been around some and even worked in the Middle East and Asia some. I’ll never forget landing at the old Hong Kong airport. Also have been in all kinds of aircraft including helicopters for transportation for the work I did.

@@airborne.visuals It was fun. I did communications work in Alaska for various companies and one of them even got us some overseas contracts. I also turned up satellite links for the FAA all over the state as well as working at ZAN about 25 years ago. I’m a pretty big guy and I’d usually end up in the right seat on many flights from DH-2s on floats, Caravans Navajos and the list goes on. I even had a guy pick me up in an old twin that had a middle seat passenger seat between the pilot and copilot. I also flew in a lot of helicopters going to oil platforms and then mountain top communications sites along the pipeline. I even had a 7ECA Champ years ago I learned to fly. I’m retired now and haven’t been in a plane in 7 years.
