Behind the scenes fact: The dancer who performs the crushing scene in the dance studio is a contortionist from Australia, that scene had no special effects.

Another behind the scenes fact: in order to cut costs they hired a real evil witch from Italy to play a role of Mother Markos.

for a horror movie, that was a very good ending.
this is a good summary. watching the movie can be confusing but it's actually really good. hopefully it becomes a cult classic.

@@will_the_don It drives me insane when people act like one HAS to be better than the other. This should never be called a "remake" because it's actually a "re-imagination" of the original, essentially becoming the inverse of the original. Luca Guadagnino has stated that he loved the original so much, and said it left him with a feeling he couldn't explain but felt compelled to make an homage to it. Which is ironic, because I first watched the original on Halloween night in 2020, the only night I used to tolerate horror movies, when it was still on CZcams, and had NEVER seen anything like it...I have never felt SO captivated by a movie, and consider it my favorite movie of all time. It also got me hooked on the whole Giallo genre, and it finally got me past my aversion to horror movies in general as well.
The original takes place in West Germany, and is a colorful kaleidoscope of violence, fear, and excitement...and notice that any part of it shot outside of the school, like her taxi ride to the school and Daniel at the wild German pub, it's not that different from what one would expect in America or the UK. But the 2018 one, again, is a total inversion...the other side of the Berlin wall, the political turmoil and social unrest of the socialist policies of East Germany, the bland lack of colors, and everything else is meant to be this way. It may be longer and "drag" in places, but it really leaves no questions left to be asked other than how long Mother Suspiriorum was actually gone until being reborn as Suzy. Did it give me the same feeling as the original? Well I watched it when I was sleep deprived 3 days after my dad was rushed to the ICU with epiglottitis, so I never did get the "same" feeling, but I still REALLY enjoyed it, and strongly suggest anyone who loved the original give this one a try, but keeping in mind that it's not intended to be a legitimate remake or "compete" with the original, but to complement it.
I also would suggest to people like Hector Sumaoang that this is definitely less confusing if you watch the original 1977 Suspiria first, which is free to stream on Tubi last time I checked (along with the other 2 "Three Mother's" movies)
@@pattym9182 Thank you, you took the words out of my mouth. It took the themes of the original and gave a new context. For example og film, why a ballet academy, new film because witches use dance to cast spells. They gave the doctor a bigger role and allowed us to see the inner workings of the coven. It gives you a clear ending, yet makes you want to know more. For example more about the sisters and their past. Is Suzy gone or she and the sister one? What is the future of the coven?
I think the creator of the original Suspiria would be proud as the new film shows the future generation taking the lessons from the first film to create something new. That is greatest gift any creator could receive knowing that will be remembered and teach the next generation. Thus creating a Neverending legacy.
Fun fact: the missing wife of the psychiatrist was played by Jessica Harper, who actually played Suzy Bannion in the original Suspiria back in 1977!
Also I find it worth pointing out that Tilda Swanson played 3 important characters - the psychiatrist, Helena Markos, and Madame Blanc!

as soon as I saw her, I knew she looked familiar, I'd seen the original movie last year and knew who she was, it's a surprise how she still looks the same. 😅
You can tell the oldman was her. The movements seemed kind of odd. But it was still very well done.
She is a witch.

The witchcraft and black magic in this movie does pertain to Hollywood in a sense. Take Allister Crowley and all the disgusting and evil shit he did and wrote about for example and his influence in Hollywood.
