    I’ve got the same exact setup and I love it. Put it on the week I bought the truck and gave it hell

    Nice truck man. I had the same one with a Diesel. Head gasket went 😢 now I’m in a Sierra AT4. Gonna get the same rack setup.

    Why did you decide to go with the Overhaul HD, over the Out Post rack?

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem +4

      My tooftop tent is too long to fit on the lower Outpost rack. The Overhaul HD allows my tent to extend over the cab of my truck

    Great review! But I am wondering why did you switch from the bolts to the Yakima recovery board mounts? Not sure if I missed that part of video, but just curious as to why you made the switch? Thanks!

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem +1

      Hey there! I bought the recovery board mount at the same time I bought the rack. Unfortunately my old recovery boards didn't fit so I held onto the mount until I bought Maxtrax. The old bolts were just temporary in order to mount my old boards.

    • @ronaldm.9280
      @ronaldm.9280 Před rokem +1

      I see! So you upgraded your boards to the Maxtrax! Nice! I like those boards too....everything except for the price! Lol@@varsityoverland

    I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. czcams.com/users/postUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

    Does Yakima make an accessory for the side supports where the channel is you had the Carriage bolts to mount a bicycle carrier?

  • @timstewart8277
    @timstewart8277 Před 5 měsíci

    I would only use it 6 times per year or so when we take our kayaks camping (with travel trailer). How easy are these to remove and put on?

  • @thomashannah1828
    @thomashannah1828 Před 11 měsíci +1

    We always said it like this: The first syllable rhymes with "Jack", not "Jock" -- last syllable is pronounced "maw", not "muh" "YACK-u-MAW"

      That’s how you know someone isn’t from Washington. I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it yockimuh though. It’s usually yakimuh.

    Do you know the total weight for the racks and the tonneau cover. Great setup but I'm concerned about payload because I'm going to pull a trailer as well

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem +1

      Unfortunately I dont know the weight but I honestly wouldn't be too concerned. Since its aluminum its pretty light. Id check the specs on yakima if you're able

  • @roymichael851
    @roymichael851 Před 4 měsíci +2

    Pretty sure the on-road spec is 500lbs, off-road is 300lbs and static is 800lbs.

  • @Troothless
    @Troothless Před rokem +1

    Static load is actually 800lbs for this rack.

    Do they slide down any more so it’s not such an air gap between a tent and the cab? I have a zr2 as well and want to run a bed rack/tent combo and also still use my tailgate pad for MTB

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem

      Yes they can slide down to a point where the tent and cab wouldn't have a gap. Mine is a bit higher in order for my tent to clear the cab rack.

    I'm trying to buy the Yak HD Overhaul at my local dealer now. He doesn't have the HD cross bars so he is pushing the Jet Stream bars instead. I'm concerned the Jetstreams will not hold the tent platform as well as the HD bars. Store is saying the Jetstream bars are just as good but more aero dynamic. Anyone have any opinions of the Jetstream cross bars? I suspect he is pushing them because he doesn't have the HDs in stock.

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem +3

      I personally wouldn't substitute the HD bars for Jet Streams. I've owned both and the HD bars are much thicker. That is just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

    • @topwaterpursuit
      @topwaterpursuit Před rokem +1

      @@varsityoverland I appreciate and value your experiences. I felt the same way about the Jet Streams. I have found another dealer that does have the HD bars in stock so I may have to pick this up in pieces between the 2 dealers and assemble it myself.

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem +1

      @topwaterpursuit The assembly is straight forward and the Yakima instructions are well written. They also include a lot of diagrams of the installation. Feel free to message me with any questions too👍
