That was SPECIAL!!! Honored he and you shared that time together with us. Some of us are old enough to remember the beginning of all of this. My first home computer was a Heath Kit H89. I took Assembly Language programming at Foothill College on a PDP-8 and PDP-11. Remember sitting and typing my code in and the terminal generating the punch tape to the load into the computer after executing a series of switch flips and loads to tell it to read the tape… No one in the class, including myself, could get the program to run… until I took the time to read the punch tape binary code… Found that one punch was not working and was was dropping a bit/hole… Manually drilled the missing holes with a click pen that had a sharp end that when retracted could drill a hole in the tape. Result was an A+. No one thought of checking their tape… First computers at work were the IBM PCs and the Apple I and II systems. DOS OS and eventually the first versions of Windows… So much has changed. I was sucked into programming at Band Camp when a friend loaned be a book on Basic. Bought my first Pascal compiler for my H89 computer from Borland, driving over HWY 17 to pay about $50! Those were fun times. Now I fear AI may be a bigger threat than advantage to humanity… Thanks for sharing.
I love your story more than you can appreciate. Thank you for sharing with us. It is hard to believe that the times that you describe are not all that long ago. How far we have come. it is important to remember all this.

Neil, I love your videos. A suggestion that might make 'em bettah: If you could chapter the content it would make it easier to find the key parts when time is short. Keep 'em up. I'm five days away from my trip to Simi....
Always enjoy your videos Neil! Watched today from Lake Catherine State Park near Hot Springs, AR in my 2021 Travato 59G Class B van...just taking a page from your playbook and finding a beautiful setting to 'work'. 😉 By the way, your Dad's memory is INCREDIBLE! Thanks to both of you for sharing...so interesting! Kudos to both of you for helping us to remember all we owe to the trailblazers!!
sounds lovely. it makes me happy to know that i’ve inspired you to take out your 59g out, find a beautiful place to setup camp for the day and enjoy your 59g and life. thank you for watching and please consider joining my community to post pics of these outdoor daily adventures to inspire others: www.ultramobility.co/ultramobility-community
