- How to make resin silicone molds with acrylic blanks that have built in housing.
In today's video I'll be showing you guys how I made another batch of resin silicone molds with acrylic blanks. These acrylic blanks are different than the one in my previous mold making video because we don't have to make the mold housing for the silicone ourselves. Milky Rainbow Deco made these acrylic blanks with the housing built in which means all we have to do is pour in the silicone and wait for it to cure. Making resin silicone molds with these blanks is SO much easier and stress free. @@JBKonsCreations Hope you have a great year and even greater one next year. Yeah I gonna just keep buying mold cuz it too expensive to make my own. Still it is pretty cool when you make your own.
You could try finding a Makers Space that has a laser cutter.
In Tulsa we have one at our central library with a laser cutter that can be used for free. Just buy your own materials.
But there's other Makers Spaces that charge you a membership fee that's reasonable. Or you could try finding someone who already has one & pay them to make it for you.
Cool! MUCH BETTER than the old cookie mold way of doing it. Thanks! I went to her website, but I have no idea how to order a heart mold blank. Incidentally, if you don't use a vacuum chamber for your silicone, you cannot put the molds in a pressure pot - it will bring out all the hidden bubbles.
When I ordered mine I DMed her on Instagram. Try that. The contact link on her website seems broken lol 😅 Happy New Year!
And when trimming the mold you should try pinching it up a little as you trim for a smooth trim
Just a tip you should try to pour the silicone all in one pour and folsom 4 to 6 inches above you mold to reduce bubbles.

Thank-you! Ooof good question! I had my respirator on so Im not sure and I usually leave my office before taking off my mask. But it can’t be that bad since there wasn’t much smell throughout the house. I got sent a resin before that stank up my WHOLE house. I could even smell it in the second floor.😓

I have made a lot of molds with items I have sculpted using lets resin silicone as well as several others and have been able to use uv resin in them.

If the acrylic sheet is layered, won't there be a mark on the edge of the line that will show the layering of acrylic?
I have made a mould but it took 10 litres of silicone as it was a 1/6 horse model I was making a mould of 😬🐴
