Hi friends!!! Thank you all so much for watching! I just wanted to let you all know that I (finally) joined Pinterest, so if you want to save my recipes on there as well you can view them here: www.pinterest.com/caitlinshoemaker/ WOOHOO!
Caitlin Shoemaker yessssss!!!! This is the best day ever!
Caitlin Shoemaker I'll make it challenging for you. French.
Indian.
Could you maybe try Italian
Middle eastern!!
You, my friend, have converted me. I can eat the burrito bowl EVERYDAY, with a large side salad. I can do this. 😩Plant based, here I come!
How’d u do?
Congratulations
A burrito bowl IS a salad.
@@audrey2658 no problem honey
I'm not even vegan and I don't really eat greens but she makes me eat more healthy food and less junk food for some reason
heck yeah!
Keep it up. The more u eat healthy the more junk food will taste like crap! When I eat something heavy in fat, I don't like the texture and I don't like how I feel after. Your body starts to crave good stuff. : )
it's the dimples
May be because she’s so beautiful
oop türk?
instead of country themed videos, you could also do recipe type videos. Like 5 soups under $5, or 5 oven baked recipes, or 5 summer salads, or 5 one pot recipes. These are just some suggestions, there are plenty more! I really like this format (I like all your videos honestly)
love this! :)
I think you could do this as well as the cuisines
Ooh 5 one pot meals would be awesome
All good ideas :)
L
She said Mexican INSPIRED damn you all need to chill. She tried. She obviously not mexican but she tried her best.
Yeah, nobody screamed, bloody hell when taco bell started to sell junk and called it "mexican"!
@@pkoblenz4368 i did lol
as a Mexican she should've said Mexican-American, because she barely even touched Mexican food they sell at restaurants lmaoooooo like as a Mexican i was looking for enchiladas, posole, ceviche, tortas de camaron. This wasn't even a challenging video to make or eye opening to the different kinds of Mexican foods. likeeee i really hope she actually does something challening and insightful for any other ethnic food she takes on because YIKESSSS and to all her viewers PLEASE I BEG YALL to look into different types of Mexican food if yall thought she actually did a good job in this video.
btw nachos are not really Mexican they were literally invented for American tourists
@@3otterlover You need more things to fill out your day... When cuisine is literally the only thing you can be proud of culturally-speaking, you have a problem...
Failed state (of mind).
I always really appreciate it when I see vegan recipes without a blender or foodprocessor! I mean sometimes it feels like every vegan recipe is just "Take veggies and blend them with spices" or "Blend cashews and spices to add them to your veggies".
Adding my vote to no-blender/no-food processor because I will soon be living the van life without a water hookup so I appreciate recipes that take the least water to clean up from preparation and consuming.
i totally agree! this video is so much more helpful :)
oooor we can use the original processor!!!!!
The fork. xD
LadyShihita me too! I dont always have one of those avaliable
I love to cook but not wash dishes. This is perfect if you are on the go ...
Yum; and maybe try Greek, Indian, or Italian inspired food♡♡♡
omg ikr
.o.
I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE
Dani Valenzuela ok...
Dani Valenzuela im greek and i love this channel!!
You can tellll that a lot of effort goes into her videos. She makes all these recipes and calculates the prices and does great editing. Great job!
Just a quick tip, heat up your corn tortillas in the microwave for a few seconds before you put the beans in so they don't crack when you wrap them!
Nicole Moussa. That's what I do and it steams them and makes them easier to roll up.
I cringe every time I saw her putting the food on the unheated tortilla
um or the comall! plus I make my own corn tortillas which taste so much better than store bought!
Caitlin, I think this video is a great example of how much better you're getting at making videos! I thoroughly enjoyed 1) your display of the groceries cost updating as you listed off what you bought, 2) fitting the ingredients per meal in the screen, 3) the little things like the minipeppers, arugula, and avocado blinking like lights, 4) the background music nicely being at a low level in contrast with the sound of your narration, & 5) I think we have the same pan!
I imagine this took a lot of time! Keep it up :D
her videos are so good! the editing is very well done :)
Many people already said Italian-Inspired recipes would be great and I can only second that. But really interesting would also be French Food. The French cuisine is so diverse and I bet you could find some quite rare gems to make. Thanks for asking.
Veganizing French cuisine can be really tricky but it's worth it !! If you're interested and you speak French there's a fantastic cookbook called A la française by Sébastien Kardinal where he veganizes tons of different French recipes, I HIGHLY recommend it :p I hope it will be translated soon for those who don't speak French !
Matilda Noname Thank you for the recommendation. My French is far from perfect, but with Google Translation it should be fine. I will Check it out.
I vote for French, it makes me cry that I can't eat much french food due to all the meat, butter and egg. i know there are alternatives for each but will they taste good? I am too frightened to try. Maybe.... and I cant speak or read french.
I can assure you that they are sooooo delicious and tasty ! Do you have a special recipe in mind ? Maybe I can help you to veganize it :)
@@tanuki116 . Focus people! The name of the video is MEXICAN, inspired.
When you said "last but not least: an avocado" I literally yelled "Just one?!" lol I'd need at least 5 I love them so much 😂
LOL me too!
Yup, my family goes through avocados like it's water.
I transitioned to veganism a few months ago and I was so afraid that it would be difficult until I started doing my own research and came across your CZcams channel as well as some other vegan channels. You really have made it clear that veganism is actually incredibly easy and I've been having so much fun recreating your meals and sometimes even adding my own flare to them
KOREAN! I'm Korean and a lot of the food is meat centered so it'd be a good challenge
Britney Pellouchoud you should check out MommyTang! She has great vegan korean recipes :)
Britney Pellouchoud CheapLazyVegan also is korean and has a lot of korean recipes on her channel!
I agree with you
Asian inspired!! Maybe even split to different cuisines such as Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, etc. 😊
love it!
Caitlin Shoemaker yesss Thai!!!!
Lynn Nguyen definitely split them up! Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, malaysian.....
yum! such a good idea :)
Lynn Nguyen i
new sub girly , I love these recipes I'm Mexican and I just went vegan and I have no clue how to cook without meat so this is super helpful 😉
Losi5167 lots of Mexican dishes can be made vegan, like coliflor capeada, you can make that without the egg batter, use the hot for food coliflower wing recipe. Rajas con queso can be rajas with tofu. Pozole can be vegan, Enchiladas, Chile's rellenos. My mouth is watering.
Losi5167 you should be ashamed of yourself condoning this.
You're so gorgeous
Check out "Mas! Vegan" channel, she is mexican and does vegan versions of reaaaaally good mexican dishes ❤👌
What are you talking about? There's PLENTY, of Mexican dishes that are ALL vegetables, no meat. The pillars of Mexican cuisine: beans, chiles and corn!
Transitioning into veganism...I came in thinking it was going to be expensive, but your videos have helpful ideas! Love these kind of videos!
Try Indian food next 🙌🏻
yum! love indian food!
Nah! There's plenty of india already.
@@pkoblenz4368 what’s that supposed to mean?
I have been watching this channel since before going vegan, for "meatless Mondays" and such... her recipes and her general attitude helped me feel comfortable during the transition (which I didnt even know was coming! I never planned go be vegan).
Caitlin - EXCELLENT PRESENTATION !!!!! It is SOOOO refreshing to see that you didn't "follow suit" like many other DIY videos that subject the viewer to the same boring "watching water come up to a boil" shots.... I LOVE your use of the "time lapse - speed frame" effect to show the cooking steps yet not spend the real time having to sit through it. ADDITIONALLY - Your addition of the dollar amount budget costs for all of the meals as well as the individual meal cost is BRILLIANT !!! So many people do not add this element into their videos, and it's a helpful tool - you really have a knack for making interesting and helpful videos. The only suggestion I would have (and it's very small one) - is to think about adding the date (like "Summer of 2017") somewhere on the screen (like a bug or a crawl) to show a reference as to when your prices were paid.... WELL DONE !!!! KEEP MAKING YOUR VIDEOS - You have a real future in doing these!!!
Kevin Padden Cassey ho makes similar video styles. You should check out her food videos
a tip for the bean taquitos heat them up on the grill first then roll them so they dont break :)
Asian food! Japanese maybe? :)
huntyoc check Peaceful Cuisine. He is a Japanese chef and vegan! He does amazing videos :)
Asian is definitely on the list!
would love to see some asian food :)
huntyoc Thai food would be nice!
how about arabic food?
Love it!! Thanks for the ideas...can’t wait to try some of your dishes.
I love how simple it is and yet so flavourful! Thank you for sharing!
Looks yummy!! Also I highly appreciate you calling in Mexican-inspired rather than just Mexican. V v classy and respectful 👏🏼 It truly makes a difference 👌🏼👌🏼 also you is soo pretty😍 love you gurl💕
I am so happy to see all the videos you have been posting. They keep getting better and better. I have been watchin your videos for atleast a year now and I am hooked. You probably already know this but I just want to validate your decision to leave school and take on Social Media full time. i can tell it is what makes you HAPPY and you are hecka great at it. Keep up all your hard work!!!
Also, I support a Thai theme!!! and maybe a "cheezy" theme, maybe a "rosemary" (or any other herb theme where you can play around with different ideas??
i'm so excited to try these out. Really glad i found your channel!
Awesome! I love how the dishes are very easy to make and filled with flavour. Looking forward to see the next episode of the series.
IF U MAKE VEGAN GYROS ILL CRY :')
oooh dang that is a challenge but it would also be fun!
...... wait, basically she just said it would be fun to make you cry.. and here i thought she was a nice vegan lol ;D
Lauren "from HotForFood channel" has a vegan recipes book, and she said it has a Gyro recipe, you should go check her channel it's great
You can easily sub the meat for falafel, baked chickpeas, baked mushrooms (sliced portobello), or tofu. I made some the other night.
Maybe try doing Middle Eastern, but branch out a bit. for example you could do Stuffed Vine leaves, or Zaatar Manakish, grilled veggie shawarma. And Ma'amoul or Basbousa for desserts.
i don't see that many middle eastern recipes around its usually just Hummus and Falafel
Mmm, I wonder why, you don't see many middle eastern? I know why? I just wonder you haven't.
These look so good! Thanks for sharing.Definitely adding them to my meal planning this week!
This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! A few different meals but using the same ingredients that u will buy in one trip to the store! 👌 Thank u for this lol
Series!!! yes!!! Fantastic ideas and "my kid friendly" :0)
I made the burrito bowl for lunch!
Thank you so much!! I made all of these and the one with the salsa/rice, black beans and baked tortillas with re-fried beans plus peppers was a hit!! It's the first time my son ever said my cooking was "restaurant worthy"!! You changed my life and made it better. Thank you. I am making this for him now that he is in college, for his lunches. I've substitute the baked tortillas for half soft flour tortillas and the peppers for steamed mini potatoes as he likes that. I am very grateful!!!
SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU HAPPY❤️
5 under 5
Marianna Conrado good idea!
yeah I like that!
Marianna Conrado sounds like a Forbes magazine article about 5yo entrepreneurs
good idea! :)
I've watched five videos now with this one.
When will you be making the shoes?
I'm Mexican and really love your brown rice recipe! I was actually trying to figure out how to make Mexican brown rice without having to fry anything first, good job! I will definitely make it, thank you !
Omg so loving this series!
You should do a "pole" (I believe this is how it is called) on the video (basically the same thing you do with your video collabs with sweet simple vegan) for people to vote for what theme they want to see next. Great video btw 😊
good idea! I will do that for the next one!
please keep on with the budget friendly!!! broke college student sos
She has plenty of those already.
Absolutely great video, I love how quick and simple these recipes are and that you don't need too many crazy ingredients to make them. This is perfect for a busy lifestyle and it's budget friendly as an added bonus.
You are sooo creative! I'm definitely going to recreate these!
I love it Can you do more meals with cilantro and lime and avocado 🔥❤😜
Indian or Greek food! And another really cool one to see would be German, just because it's such a challenge...but I loved German food before going vegan so I'd love to see what you come up with!
Great recipes!! Love that they're so easy to make!
Caitlin I LOVE this video. What a great idea. Please keep the series going. I will be making all of them :)
That ending though! Ha-ha-ha! :-D Great video, Caitlin!
what brand of pans do you use to cook? I need it in my life!
they are by the brand nuwave
I love how much effort you put into this! So, thank you!
Thank you for this video! The recipes all look sooo good. I have been really lazy and uninspired about cooking lately, but now I know what to make next week!
you made me hungry 😂👍🏻 actually, I'm a vegetarian and I'm starting to be vegan from tomorrow and this video has encouraged alot😎👌so, thanks
Doona SN awesome! good luck on your vegan journey. Its way easier than it seems, and don't forget there are a ton of dairy alternatives that you can have if you have trouble with cravings!
Theprincessrocksful Thank youuuu soo much for your reply 💗😭 you made so excited for this journey.
25$ for all of that?
**canada has left the chat**
Too true.
Hey Caitlin awesome video! thanks for all the stuff you post. I just made your kale burgers they were also great! Thanks again. Keep up the great work.
definitely continue this series please!
Since it's summer please do a grilling themed one! unless you don't grill? Ive never seen you use one.
Unfortunately I don't have a grill :(
Caitlin Shoemaker grill pan could work to show a summer grilling series.
Sarah Studt. You could grill tofo with spices and a sauce . It can be made to taste like whatever you want it to taste like by the seasoning .
Asian or italian would be nice
Plenty of those out there already. You just haven't looked.
hi you are so happy was a joy to watch you video ! thank for the mex ideas
Love your description and the beautiful salads. I subscribed. Thank you
Please try Chinese takeout!! I crave it allllllllll the time
Kristianna Williams hotforfood and edgyveg has good recipes 😋
Plenty of Chinese out there. Don't be lazy, search for it!
indian ftw!!
love love love!! Thank you so much, must make more of these please 💚
ALL LOOKS SUPER 😋YUMMY!! Thank you for sharing!!😊💜
I would've loved to see what you had left over after all 5 of the meals. You made a lot of food but it seemed like you would have a fair bit left.
Kamryn I had LOADS left!
Kamryn I can add a leftovers shot to the next video :)
Great series idea!! Maybe do a Mediterranean inspired episode, Asian as previously suggested, or healthy junk food?
yum! i love mediterranean food :)
You're clueless, there's plenty of healthy stuff going on on Mediterranean as it is. You're just to lazy to search it.
Yay!!!! I definitely need to try these recipes.
THANK TOU FOR THIS!!!!!! they are all amazing recipes!!
Goallsss😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Being Mexican the bean taquitos made me extremely sad lol
GIRLLLLL I LOVED THIS VIDEO! THANKS FOR THE GREAT IDEAS..
this video idea was awesome! please do more of these
Did you shop at Aldi ?! I love Aldi so much and the prices are so great.
Luz Fania. I'm going there tomorrow after seeing all the comments on Aldi .
Hi guys the traditional way to make Mexican rice a tip in case you guys want to try it. First you going to choose the rice that you want to cook Mexicans usually use white rice and sometimes brown rice you add a little bit of oil in your Skillet and saute your rice for a little bit. Don't let it burn. Blend in fresh tomatos (2) in the blender one small garlic (you could also use garlic powder onion powder) half a onion pepper and if you want optional a little bit of cilantro. You add this to your skillet. The heat of your Skillet will cook through your Raw salsa. Add water ( for one cup of rice is 2 cups of water) and salt to taste. Cover it for 20 minutes. Within this time. Don't let the steam come out. Have it in medium Heat and do not mix it. it's done add half a lime to your rice. That is the recipe for arroz Rojo. You can also add veggies like corn carrots anything you want when you add your water add your veggies too.
Huitzilli. That's how this gringa was taught to make it by my Mexican friends. I love it and it smell so good cooking . yummy .
Caitlin, i have been considering a plant based diet, and i love italian and mexican food. I must say that your recipes are making the decision easier. Thank you, and keep them coming.
You are soooo talented and creative! Love your videos and all the recipes!
Caitlin! Please reupload your oil free video. It is not working for a lot of people
Morgan Bailey I thought I was the only one but it's kinda good to hear that more people have that problem
Morgan Bailey I'm so sorry! I'm going to email CZcams about this and see what the problem is. It plays fine for me :(
Caitlin Shoemaker thanks!
Hi Morgan, CZcams got back to me and said that there were no issues with the video. They recommended that if you cannot view it, you do the following (going to copy and paste) " (1) Clear cache and cookies
(2) Use other browsers
(3) Reset or restart your device/computer
(4) Use other device
Should it still give you the same error, please let us know and if you can provide a screenshot, that would be better. " I'm sorry the solution isn't more simple! :(
Caitlin Shoemaker thanks for getting back to me! I tried it today and it played right through. Maybe a lot of people where watching at the same time. I appreciate you checking into it!
I would totally add some paprika, cayenne and black pepper to these tho! And also lot's of garlic
This was "Mexican themed" and those aren't Mexican spices so I think she was just trying to be authentic. But for sure that would taste good as well!
Marley C You're right. Actually we don't put yellow frozen corn, cherry tomatoes or red onions on everything either. Almost never. And nachos are a tex-mex dish. But still, got really hungry here...
Marley garlic is heavily used in hispanic cuisine more carribean than Mexican tho definitely used in Mexican cuisine as well 😊
Alejandra Navarro Can you tell me what are the authentic Mexican spices and flavorings, I'm Russian but I'm really interested in Mexican cuisine
ror ror garlic, orégano, chile (LOTS of varieties and ways to prepare), cummin, epazote, chicken broth....
We dont use, for example, paprika, cayenne, chili flakes, basil...
We also put lemon (green one, not the yellow one) in many dishes and snacks.
Omg yes I love when you make these budget friendly videos thanks girl!! 💖
LOVE your budget friendly videos! So inspiring and your recipes are always so simple yet delicious.
try Israeli or middle east foods 🤗😍
yassssss
Gross
@@eljefe919. LOL! Right!
Plenty of those out there already.
5 Russian vegan recipes 😈😄
why this emoji "😈" though? I'm Russian by the way ;) actually we have so many vegan recipes or vegetarian but you can omit the cheese or replace it with a vegan cheese, beetroot soup"borshch", mushroom and potato soup, cabbage soup "Shchi", noodles soup, sour kraut/mushrooms/mashed potato/mashed sweet potato stuffed perogies, olivier salad "without the pork and eggs of course" and so many other soups and recipes, some of them have meats or chicken but it's not the main so it's easy to just omit it
ror ror I'm also Russian 😊 Emoji coz it'll be interesting to look how this theme will be developed:)
Alisa Ross unfortunately Russian food is not popular like Italian or Mexican or French or Indian or Greek or Turkish food I don't know why !! Even polish food is popular!
@@rorror9684 . Exactly, there should be plenty of vegan comarades on CZcams posting vegan dishes. She is just too lazy to search for them and thought posting on Mexican inspired video was an easier way. Smh!
I'm going to have this for dinner this week. Thanks to you I won't be over buying ingredients. Great new series!
so much food art in this video! beautiful
can be way cheaper without organic :) way too poor for that haha
for sure!
Knowing real Mexican food, this was a bit traumatizing. That fake salsa was KILLING me.
Gandhijis as someone who is Mexican I completely agree but I appreciate what she is trying to do.
Gandhijis lol and the taquitos made w flour tortillas...but it's "inspired" ... so I guess she's trying :)
Gandhijis I'm Mexican and I can't stand when people bitch about "real Mexican food" like damn, if you don't like it her way, just do it yourself fr.
Riley Vega yikes. I came to the video hoping to find actual vegan alternatives to Mexican food. Thats why I commented this. Maybe she'll take it as constructive criticism and research real Mexican dishes and modify them to be vegan. You seem pressed for no reason.
I agree these looked sad
I am binge watching your vids rn and they’re so good !
Thank you for making a beginner vegan feel ssoo much better about this transition I love these recipes
Those recipes are awesome but I think around $5 for a homemade meal is a lot 😳 If you had two $5 meals a day your weekly groceries would cost $70, that's insane 😳
Did you listen to my description? The most expensive meal was actually $3ish :) Plus I purchased organic foods, and not all of your meals are going to cost the same amount! For example, when I eat oatmeal with banana and peanut butter for breakfast, that probably costs less than $1
Caitlin Shoemaker Yeah I know, I just realized! I wanted to delete the comment but it kind of didn't work 🤦🏽♀️🙈 Sorry!
elusivebutsatisfying T. $70 for a week of groceries is cheap. It's just mum and I at home and each week our food shopping is around $200+
Natasha Antunovich That is your problem and nowhere near cheap. My sister and her boyfriend need 300/month together! I used to shop and shop and shop groceries and I'd come to around 70€ + School lunch which is insane! One single person doesn't need to spend 70€ on groceries for 7 days!
Everyone can spend as much or as little as they want for groceries. It's a personal choice!
Looks amazing can't wait to try
Yes, you should totally do another video. I love your channel.
love this series idea!
I am new to your channel but I am in love with your budget friendly meals!!! Mexican is my favorite and I can’t wait to try some of your recipes!!!
This all sounds awesome. Definitely going to try them all.
I really enjoyed this video and I will try making theses. Thank you!
Love this! Super simple and inexpensive.
What an amazing video! I'm so excited to try some of these. Thank you so much! 😁
AMAZING food ideas. Thank you so much!
Loved this type of video! Really hope you continue the series 💗💗
wow your my favorite. this is amazing! please never stop making these videos lol
