It is a rare thing for an artist to leave you with goosebumps no matter when you listen to their songs. David Cook is certainly one of those artists.

Total shame this guy is not a massive star. One the single most amazing power voices ever!
This was a very popular radio song at the time. But at the time this came out, (honestly its been a long trend over the entire 2000s), but the charting success of rock ballads were getting smaller and smaller every year. This could have been a runaway hit in 2001. (Also, American Idol became sort of known for producing season winners who indeed had a huge hit song in them, but many of the seasons winners failed to stay relevant as pop superstars a year plus after winning on the show. I'd say David Cook was the very last American Idol winner with interesting hype behind him as he legit entered the industry as a recording artist).
All these years later & this is still one of my favorite songs!!
Absolutely the best male vocalist to ever come into the spotlight from American Idol. An a model for the perfect rock voice. Rich low baritone voice that's more dynamic than the best out there to tenor high notes that stay rich and full even when he's in full belt. This is what every singer wishes they could do. Most tenors who can hit those crazy high notes have to really be carefully on the low-end or they sound thin... Cook has vocal chords from Heaven.

It hurts knowing that this guy has never given enough recognition. He's got an amazing voice and such a great personality. The fact that he's humble and not self-conscious about it and his real talent adds to his overall charm. Such a pity. I hope he comes back sooner. He's the kind of musician we need, not unlike most of the "musicians" we have today. Oh, and he's sexy, too. haha

I stopped watching American Idol after the Taylor Hicks debacle. Some of the singers that came after that may have been looked over or forgot entirely. David Cook has an amazing voice. I think its been about 11 years since he was on AI but maybe other then Adele his voice and lyrics are so soul penetrating.
