- Who is a County Commissioner and What do They Do?
As far as the position of the County Commissioner is concerned the responsibilities are fairly broad and can involve issues that affect the county from outside the borders. A County Commissioner is a unique position in terms of elected offices within the United States in that their position holds both legislative and executive powers. This doesn't mean they have authority over other elected officers, but it does give the office important powers for getting things done within the county.
We do our best to answer this question, as Chad Booth sits down with Stan Summers, Box Elder County Commissioner; Kent Peatross, Duchesne County Commissioner; Bret Millburn, Davis County Commissioner to find out more about the role that Commissioners play in our daily lives.
Ria Rossi Booth takes us on a walk with the Utah County Commission to find out what the, Try a Trail with a Commissioner program is all about.

Wow, 978 views in 2 years that's sad given the importance of this subject. I think this is great that Utah wants to better inform about county government. Looks like there's more work to be done on promoting awareness about county government functions.
would love your ideas on how to accomplish this
These are just a few learning objectives I've come up with on developing a small module on county government for students.
Objectives:
Identify how the county government’s laws are defined.
Locate laws governing county government.
Match general county offices with their appropriate functions.
Locate the county website.
Find the contact information and location of county offices.
Match possible scenarios to the county office that would be involved.
Predict and discuss other possible scenarios that would be handled by county government.
List elected positions existing in county government
Name the people currently holding these positions.
Practice searching for political county government campaign pages.
Identify the next election date.
Find a voter's registration form.
Locate the polling location given the student’s current home address.
Discover how to stay informed about public hearings.
Hypothesize ways student can positively influence the county government outcomes.
Create a plan of action to stay informed about county government.
+Amanda Brighton We have other episodes in our library that focus on other county jobs. perhaps they would be of value to you our your objectives.
You guys should have redone all of the videos on the County Commissioners, County attorneys, County sheriff's and the County auditors. Seeing how they're all up for reelection now and public interest on these topics is at a peak
We might. Put together a playlist of those shows for the election cycle
