Is Daniel Ricciardo done in F1 after Suzuka crash?

  • Struggling F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo collided with Alex Albon at turn three of the Japanese Grand Prix. Is Daniel done? There was much discussion after the Japanese Grand Prix as to whether the crash will hasten the end of Daniel Ricciardo’s career so let’s take a closer look. And afterwards, I’ll run through some other things that I spotted while photographing in the paddock at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Honestly Liam did an amazing job while he was out recovering and it's a shame that he doesn't have a seat in F1. I get that Daniel is a great guy and brings a lot to the sport but he's not driving up to par for some time now. He couldn't get to grips with the McLaren whereas Carlos and now Oscar are doing a great job. It is time for him to move on. It's sad to see him go but when you look at Alonso that is older and even Lewis (minus the crappy car) they are higher up the grid than him most weekends. It's time to give Liam a go. I think he got that seat cause Christian felt sorry for him but to be fair he should be either ahead of Yuki or at least closer in points.

Its hard to see a fellow West Aussie struggle. You can see in his interviews that he is certainly feeling the pressure. I really hope he can bounce back and start to "Trip major ballsack "again.
Quick question. Do you know who is driving the APX race cars ??

It was a racing incident but surely the lions share of the blame falls with Danny.
He was desperate to not lose any more places after a shocking start so he was focusing on the aston behind and only looked left, completely ignoring the massive gap to the right where Alex was going.
How anyone can say its 50/50 really confuses me.
    70/30 at very best.
Not checking both sides when going into turn 3 on the opening lap of any race is insane, doing it at suzuka where it tightens so much is just incompetence

Those 50% are Ric fans. Rewatching from F1TVs incars of Albon, Ricc and Stroll Ric went from one side of the track to the other without looking at his right mirror.

I really like Daniel .. but all of this talk about him using RB to get back into RBR is absolute rubbish. He's never ever been on their radar.

Danny Rik has at least 6 more races to go. They won't do anything until the mid season break. If it does end, he's had a fantastic F1 career; won the Monaco grand prix etc ....... not many drivers can say that. Also, 10's of millions in the bank. He'll be alright.

50-50? Ricciardo had no idea what he was doing. And it has been like that since he left RB. He should do the honorable thing, retire and let Lawson score point for RB VISA

Daniel still has some time but it is not looking good. As things stand it wouldn't surprise me if he were replaced with Liam Lawson come the summer break. A move to RBR looks far away and his main priority seems to be to not lose his current seat.

Putting opinions aside of Daniels current (and past) form its undeniable that the guy really does have some terrible luck. I really do hope things go his way so that he can put his best foot forward. Maybe its enough, maybe its not but at least we will have a definitive answer.

I think he has a lot of charisma, but that's not enough to keep a seat.
His useful purpose, besides advertising, is to motivate Yuki and Checo to perform well. But even that can wane with time, so yeah...
I get that he had good times in the sim, but he underperformed when in actually mattered, in the race.
