Exactly - and it shouldn't have taken convincing a medical team about her level of pain. This is so incredible. Even with Serena's experience, one would think that medical teams would be more attentive!
Right. The girl went through the pain unnecessarily longer than needed.

Leah your story is giving me dejavu because I had a very similar birth story last year. I also wanted an unmedicated birth but it didn’t go as planned. I had to be transferred to the hospital from the birth center after I was in labour for 18hours and was stuck at 4cm, my water had broken 12 hours in (contractions were intense and back to back) and then the baby pooped. My midwives felt it best for me to go to the hospital and get an epidural so my body could get rest enough to still have the energy to push. I was very disappointed at the time and I was really wrestling with God in my spirit. All in all I had a healthy baby boy and since then the disappointment has turned into more thankfulness that we both made it out healthy.
