What do the Effects Sound Like On the Presonus StudioLive 24 Series III?

Great vids... Pretty sure the "Van" setting is their take on the live echo chamber at Sunset Sound in LA where Van Halen's first album was recorded. That sound is a huge part of the guitar sounds on that iconic first album...
Is there a way to turn the effects on and off with a foot switch? The Series III has no channel inserts so kind of stuck for that technique.
I hope presonus checks your videos out because you are exactly right so many things on this board we're improved over the last two models but that touch screen is not great, I finally got my hands on one at the local Guitar Center and that touchscreen is a time killer and the touch sensitive faders are more sensitive than the touch screen LOL
I imagine once you get used to using the knobs you'd use the touchscreen less anyway...or pair it with an iPad if you want to do more touch-screen stuff.
I’ve been watching your channel the past couple weeks thinking about getting this console, and just the other day Presonus announced the 32SX...thank you for doing these videos...great quality!!

Music Islife - nice!!...I still don’t have a proper computer that would run this...I need to upgrade
MyDeadFriendz - I only just ordered my mixer, hasn't even arrived yet, lol. Hopefully be here in a day or 2. I don't think you will need a super powerful computer to to run it. I have been recording for years on a pretty basic laptop using a Soundcraft UI24 and it worked great. I just decided to change to the Presonus cause I want physical faders.
Music Islife - I really want faders too to make it easier for automation...I think the laptop I have now meets minimum requirements, it definately needs replaced before I would spend the money on this mixer though...I barely ever use a DAW to make music
MyDeadFriendz - you could always record direct to the SD card until you get a new computer :)

I have a Tascam DP 24,it's fine for recording but everything else sucks so I got a Studiolive 16.I love everything about it.

Hey Joe! just bought one, I noticed the touch screen calibration goes off from time to time....Made it hard to click because it was registering slightly to the right of where I touched. It can be re-calibrated check their site for a how-to, fixed it for me!

Tried to use the FX but could not hear anything. Wanted to add some kind of reverb at my church in a small to medium size hall. Any ideas on why any FX I added did not take? I have the settings all correct.
There are two different faders, one for the SEND to the FX channel, and one for the RETURN. I bet you had one of those down
Can these fx be used during recording, or are they for live use only?
Did you ever find the answer? I have one but I'm still learning. I think it brings up the fat channel in Studio One but this thing is still smarter than me!
@@RockinSG Mate, I gave up on the fat channel, I just use individual plug ins now, cause its easier to understand whats going on. This thing is a lot smarter than me too, lol.

I just wonder about one thing with Studio One.. It is a mixer with Audio Interface, but in my DAW will the inputs be seperate or just inlut one and two? Most USB mixers have only 2 outputs to your daw and I need them all seperate.
The StudioLive is an audio interface. It shows up in my DAW as a 32-input/output device.
Hey there Joe, Awesome Vid. Just started using this desk for live mixing. Have you come across any distortion when gating things that are mic'd up ie drums? Currently having an issue with this.
I havn't heard a reverb on this that I liked. What were the kinds of effects that the great pop singers used? What do major studios use? Eventide? Lexicon?. I want a vocal reverb effect that has real depth with a trail at the end. What did those Rat Pack singers use in the 60's?
JMmmn Liberal you need a plate. The reverb in this mixer is more for use in a live situation, you would be better off using a quality plug in in your daw for recordings.
@@officialWWM hey thanks.. i appreciate that. I dont use a DAW, I have a tascam DP32 portastudio. I believe it has a plate, plus i have two Midiverb units from my older studio set up

Great Demo Joe... I love my series 3 mixer... Awesome product..as for the screen it dose get pokey but what I do I'd tap the parameter I want to use and use the rotary encoder under the screen... I have used a stylus... The type with a little rubber foot on it and that seems to work fine too. Being a touch screen it's easy to get "pizza" on the screen... Remember that term from radio when the stations records got dirty.. The record has pizza on it.. Love your series...good job

Hi Joe maybe you can help . My SD card speed test always comes up incomplete and does not let me do recording , I bought all suggested sds over 8 and did overwrite , also set mixer to factory reset (some said that helped the bug" but nothing . Any ideas ?thanks man
So sorry, but I'v never tried the SD card thing. Try submitting a support ticket to Presonus at my.presonus.com

Hi, how do you connect an audio interface and mixer when recording a band, (recording all instruments at the same as separate track with each instrument EQ-ed differently through the mixer)
g Newells you don't need a separate interface. The mixer is an interface.
Great video! Quick question, are you able to add two effects to a single channel at once? For example, if I wanted to add "large room" reverb as well as well as mono delay on channel 1, would that be possible?
shur1213 yes it is.
They are not mindblowing, but they are sounding good. By the way I have Studio Live 16R and I like to mix 2 different deverbs in 2 seperate FX channels. That gives some sick echos.

Gaël Laîné I think he has several outboard preamps.
So much power in this system and all they offer is reverb and delay. Where is the chorus, tremolo Etc? 🤷♂️

Have Presonus adressed the shady touchscreen issues? An OS update? Or has that calibration thing worked out? It seems like a dealbreaker, if not?
Default reverb preset is “VAN”. Stupid choice.
the only bad thing is that , there's no way to save ur effects in a preset hahaha
No time based effects? Pitch?,flange? x32 is loaded with efx.

It's been a long time since the tech people started to get too easy .... Everything became software ... Very bad ... the software thing is shitty ... Not like the real processors .. The same effects on the computer ....
