    Man, these look beautiful! I've yet to get a Shell boot... but soon hopefully!

      Thanks man! I'm pretty new to Shell boots myself. I think this is my 2nd pair? If you don't want to spend a ton of money to get some shell boots then Meermin is a solid option.

    I think the heel stack goes on after the stitching process. Maybe it got marred while sanding the heel stack in shape. Not sure. Either way, after a week of wearing them you won’t be able to even find it. They look nice.

    They look stunning! I belive Rod is tha same as Hok but taller so the insert can fit in making the look up same but side to side higher as the last goes. But to me the Rod look more tapered in profile so maybe not. But newer the less they look great

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I checked their website and that does seem to be the case! It is strange that the Rod last looks more tapered in the front even though it is supposed to be taller. The Hok last definitely has a more boxy looking toe.

    They are nice but I am a huge Grant Stone fan so I am loyal to the brand. I have 3 pairs of their Ottawa boots and 2 pairs of their Diesel's. I think the Ottawa's look the best and I originally found the brand while looking for Alden Tanker alternatives. IMO, the Ottawa's are leaps and bounds better than the Tanker's. The Ottawa's are all 100% leather except for the outsole's but the Tanker's have leatherboard for heel stack and heel rand. I think that GS's are much better than Alden's for the most part at about half the price. I have the crimson cxl and black cxl Ottawa's and then the midnight suede Ottawa's. The Midnight Suede Ottawa's are my newest GS boots and I got them for a heck of a deal back during their Labor Day sale. After the discount, the Ottawa's were only $232 shipped. I couldn't pass it up and Navy blue is one of my favorite colors and nst is one of my favorite style of boots so I had every reason to buy them. I have been wearing them daily since I got them almost 2 months ago and they have molded nicely to the shape of my feet.
    I would love to see you do a review on the Ottawa's and more GS boots as that's my favorite brand. So much so that I started a subreddit back in feb 2023 and would be honored if you would join us. We have about 670 active members so we're growing like weeds. Please find us at r/grantstoneboots. We definitely love our GSs and agree that the quality is astounding, especially when comparing with Alden’s. We will have more GS videos coming up in the next few months for sure! I’m not very active on Reddit but will be sure to join the subreddit.

    I belive there is Alden boot called tanker that is split toe as well. I cant wait to see the patina on that pair of Meermins. Man i thought i finished my boot collection and that i will keep it small but oh boy i have itch for Meermins. I loved pair I had

      Ohh you're right! Alden does have the tanker boot which looks very similar. Those would probably be really pretty in color 8 shell cordovan. Haha, I know what you mean. Every time I think I finish my boot collection another boot comes up that I really love.

    they are saying that the shell is from america... not US,not south america or north america.. my guess is that their shell is from a south american tannery..

    • @AdamBrinson
      @AdamBrinson Před 9 měsíci

      Came to say this. You have to read the description very carefully, they specify "american shells" so just the hides are from america (could be anywhere from north or south as mentioned above). Furthermore the tannery could technically be anywhere in the world the way they have worded the description.

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 9 měsíci

      Oh that's a very good catch and definitely a bit sneaky on Meermin's part. I might reach out to them and see if they will disclose a little more information on where exactly the tannery is located. Probably won't have much luck but it's worth a shot.

    Gorgeous looking boots. I’ve heard lots of good things about Meermin. Good call on the Black Friday sale. 👍
    You and I are the same size boot US8.5C, so I’d love to know which of your boots are most comfortable?

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 9 měsíci +1

      For me, my Vibergs in size 7.5 on the 2030 last are my most comfortable boots. Meermin Hok/Negon lasts in 7.5 UK are also very comfortable. I think the most surprisingly comfortable boot for me are actually the Wolverine 1000 mile in a size 8D. When I took them out of the box I was sure they were going to be too small. They ended up fitting my feet about as well as my Vibergs.

    Is the Negon last built more like the Rod or Hok? I'm more referring to the insole. Does the Negon sole take similar space inside the boot as the Rod last?

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 9 měsíci

      I would say width wise, the Negon last is slightly more similar to the Rod last inside. The Hok last is just a tad bit wider in the toebox, but all 3 are very similar. In terms of vertical height inside the boot, I believe the Negon last would be more similar to the Hok last. The Rod last is a bit deeper to accommodate an extra insole. Basically with the Negon last, you'll have similar width to the Rod last but similar vertical space to the Hok last.

  • @thomaslutro5560
    @thomaslutro5560 Před 7 měsíci

    Don't think the mark down the side of the heel stack has anything to do with the sole stitching. The heel would be attached after the sole is stitched on.

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 5 měsíci

      It might be hard to tell from the video but the mark down the side doesn't actually go down the side of the heel stack itself. It goes through the midsole and leather outsole but stops right at where the heel stack is attached.

  • @ilyafrey9038

    Hey, man. Thanks for the review. I wonder what is your width on the Braddock device? And how these fit width-wise.

    • @BabblingBootsReviews
      @BabblingBootsReviews  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Sorry for the late reply, my brannock size is 8.5C. I would say these fit snuggly width-wise. If I went up half a size they would definitely be too big for me. At first they were a little tight but after breaking in the leather they became quite comfortable!
