That gives you an inverted 3D effect as you feed the left image to the right eye and viceversa. This is designed so each image feeds the respective eye.
To see it properly, provided you are on your phone, you should try to focus your attention “past the screen”. Like look somewhere far from you and then put the phone close to your face.

The only downside to trying to see VR content without glasses is the blurred image and pain in the eyes if you're doing it for a bit too long.

​@_UpVector_ search up how to see things in sterioscopic vision. You can focus your eyes in a way where you see a third image that is a combination if the 2 on screen with the depth of field created from bot same as vr. Takes a bit of practice to get right.
