I essentially agree with this, but the issue I see is that human sexuality is so deeply wounded that even putting the words "sex" and "spiritual" in the same sentence makes people uncomfortable. It is not so much WHETHER we should be working with sexual energy, it is HOW to do this that we need assistance with. In my own practice, (I am a trauma therapist) I have found that working with this often means sitting with overwhelming shame, discomfort and deep trauma. I work with meditative techniques that help people to meditate into a felt sense of erotic love and then notice the associations it brings up and and process them carefully and safely. We've all been so wounded on multiple fronts... by pornography, assault, the pressure to be an object for someone else, even just by the introduction of garish sex toys and mechanical aids that we believe are necessary to create the "fizz bang" of orgasm. Sex feels smutty, like it only really belongs to physical reality as a biological necessity and something we need to learn to transcend to achieve enlightenment. We do not understand that erotic energy is a divine expression of Goddess and it infuses everything. All life, everywhere. I would go so far as to say that erotic energy, in all its expressions, is like the pulsing life-blood of the universe. Without it, the UNIVERSE itself would die. Sure, on a "biological" level, it is a positive primary co-regulation strategy between consenting adults (counterbalancing other regulation strategies of the jungle such as fear, aggression, shame). But in the spiritual arena, erotic sharing between beings/people who are in love can create a kind of synergy that can take us out of body completely... even if one party is not "incarnate". There is actually (surprisingly) no need for a body or any kind of physical touch at all. Everything happens in the [soul-mind-authentic self].
