I could have watched this conversation for another 5 hours. It was absolutely fascinating. I hope you get Steve Davis back on the channel again soon.
I was thinking the same thing. Two great former champions sharing stories of years gone by & techniques that they tried along the way. Brilliant 👏🏻
Yeh...good stuff 🦻🦻🦻ears forever with these two😄
I saw 33mins and thought ‘that’s quite long’ but like you said, I ended up wishing it had been much longer.
Hear hear!
My thoughts..but more eloquently put👏
Imagine walking into a room and Stephen and Steve are in there having a knock about. 13 world titles between them. Davis was the 80s and Hendry was the 90s. At their best nobody really liked them but these days they are both so chilled and have nothing to prove. Both are absolute legends
So it's not just me that still says chilled then instead of "chill" 🙄 lol
Legends in their own mindsets!!!!!!
You obviously don't know snooker.
"Imagine walking into a room and Stephen and Steve are in there having a knock about. 13 world titles between them."
What you could say in that situation is "right lads, we have 13 world titles between the 3 of us, lets find someone else and have a game of doubles".
@@lexiwilson9501 and why would that be my friend?
I'm glad Stephen just lets it naturally run with these. There is no need for him to continue to establish himself as the host. We all appreciate that his channel makes it all possible. More like this please!!
Noticed this myself mate. Good stuff
Steve Davis youtube channel - "Nuggets of Snooker"
This is brilliant stuff. Stephen is an absolute natural with this channel. It's so rare you get a sportsperson who's been one of the absolute best to have ever played their sport and was so laser-focused back then, but yet has now become so incredibly honest and self-effacing about how his game went downhill. Not only that but he's got a great sense of humour, genuine warmth, as well as mutual respect so always brings the best out of his guests. And he's always curious, listening and asking good questions. Steve is the exact same - legendary and super-focused player but now so amusing and interesting. As others have said this could easily have been so much longer. Keep up the fantastic work with the channel 👏
You said it all
Hendry was made to do this it seems; doing a fantastic job!! So, so good.@@alanfrench9656
Nailed it.
Davis, Hendry and O’Sullivan all regard each other as equals without any trace of animosity. They were each the master of their era … no point in arguing who is best… it’s irrelevant!
Davis was amazing, Hendry (when he came on the scene) was almost robotic but Stephen now is so human. What a guy!
To hear tales of Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins was a real treat. So lovely to hear two legends of the game just chatting like they were down their local club. This stuff is pure gold.
Absolutely!!!!
Absolutely
And his name, was the sluurrricaine
The greatest talent snooker has ever seen what ruined snooker was tv , when it became popular they shortened the matches so much it actually made it harder for the likes of Alex ,Reardon , Spencer to win big tournaments because it just wasn't them , Alex hated the short matches . Baring in mind when he first won the world championships the score was 37-31 aged 22 .The sad fact is though he was probably the main draw in snooker at the time and the reason it became so popular in the first place . Also nowadays they have made the tables easier the pockets are not as tight as they were they are far more forgiving hence why we see so many century breaks nowadays and anyone that says they haven't changed is a liar and hasn't played the game as long as i have .
@@MARTIN-bd7gm the reason the pockets seem bigger is they re cloth the table after the semi
They never re clothed it back then probably for years
The relaxed nature of these "interviews" makes them great viewing. Stephen Hendry has a unique talent for getting the best snooker players to open up, and share stories (and tips) that aren't just the ordinary Q & A that most commentators provide. It's easy to watch all 30+ minutes of them.
I think it's difficult for them not to open up, they have so much respect for a 7 time world champion.
I agree but keep your hands off the white ball Steve 4:25
I think the relaxed nature is mainly due to the pool/snooker club culture vibes of the bantering between shots. These conversations are kinda what you'd expect to hear when you're at one.
Massively agree with this!! So refreshing for snooker
Stephen Hendry - I never realised how good an interviewer he is! Steve Davis is great interview copy but he needs to be asked the right questions. Very enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for uploading this interview
Could we have another 12 hours of this please? Loved it.
Please don’t.
I love the fact these two get on like this. They were both seen as boring at the peak of their respective careers but in hindsight we can see what utter concentration does to you. Both absolute masters of the game :)
Agree with the sentiment but to suggest Stephen Hendry was a boring player, come on now 😂
..no Hendry wasn’t boring mate, his talent was dynamite, pure brilliance, you can’t be brilliant and boring
The media convinced you Davis were boring, never trust the media.
Yes, these two lack one thing that Ronnie has - charisma.
Fancy seeing you here :P
This channel is the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you, Stephen Hendry :)
It’s like the Jello of the month club!
This is pure gold.
Throughout the whole video I was just telling myself how great is to be watching two greats chatting it out and sharing stories.
⬆️Spot the scammer
What a conversationalist Steeve Davis is. Probably haven’t come across one that’s better than him. His insights, his humour his eagerness to share his wisdom (probably might not have been there while he was world champion as that would be counterproductive for the longevity of his dominance). A real treat. Pure genius. More than likely he would have excelled in any sport he chose. Snookers gain. Doubt any sensible guy would choose to miss out on anything that he utters. Thorough enjoyed the conversation.
What a time to be alive. These videos are a blessing to snooker fans.
Steve Davis
I've loved listening to Steve Davis, ever since I saw him doing a trick shots exhibition. He's a delight to listen to.
Steve very interesting davis. Great player, great guy. The perfect role model for any aspiring snooker player.
As an Aussie kid, I was never into snooker and don't know who most of the players are. But when I was growing up, I remember watching Steve Davis play on tv in his prime a lot. He was so far ahead of everyone at the time and seemed to have ice in his veins in those big matches. An amazing player.
Took me a few minutes to remember his name . . . Eddie Charlton was your man from Australia during 70’s and 80’s.
Of course nowadays Australia has Neil Robertson. A great player.
That was one of the best half hours I've ever spent. So enjoyable. I love that you are allowing us in now and answering the questions we all asked in our heads watching TV. Thank you both so much.
Absolutely brilliant! I could have happily sat here for hours watching and listening to these two. And Steve, yes we want a CZcams channel!
Snookers not a sport it's a game of aim control and timing nothing athletic about it
@@matimus100 "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or a team competes against another or others for entertainment" - oxford dictionary.
The amount of physical exertion is undefined. so yes, snooker is a sport. no matter how often you repost your statement over and over again under every single snooker video on youtube - you're wrong.
@@matimus100
So in the Olympics then you have for example:
Shooting
Archery
Bowls
Should they be in the Olympics ?
@@matimus100 You're probably one of those people that believe Chess is a sport.
@@matimus100
Eddie Charlton discussed this in depth about 25 years ago. Apparently, he did other physically exerting sports to A grade standard. (So we can take his word for it that he knows what is physically demanding or not). He stated that keeping fit was **essential** to good snooker. He said it was physically hard to practise for 4-8 hours and play up to 72 frames in championships.
I'm prepared to believe that snooker is much harder than it looks.
Ipso-facto, a physical sport.
That was one of the best things I've watched in ages. You two are brilliant together and the tip from Steve at the end is golden.
Had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Steve towards the end of 2022 at our club exhibition, and he along with the other ledge DT, we're two of the nicest blokes ever!
@JustWanna Shagmore Chix Dennis Taylor
Two of the greatest players of all time just being regular fellas. Both often accused of being passionless robotic in their prime but what we see now are two guys who have a sense of humour and are not as intense or serious as they used to be.
I am the same age as Steve Davis. This video has been an absolute treat to watch and to realise what great fun both players are. I really respect the way you have both opened up to the camera and to your fans. It was lovely to watch you both at the table again and wouldn't it be great to have a tournament for the 1980's players? Well done Stephen Hendry for creating this channel - it brings another way of enjoying the sport. Cheers!
Better late than never. Look what you've created here on CZcams already Stephen with the amount of interest. Absolutely fantastic content keep it up
What an absolute pleasure seeing two legends of the game giving up time to educate and entertain us great work 👍
I absolutely loved watching this, Both Steve and Stephen were the reason why snooker became such an exhilarating sport during the 80's and 90's. They were the kingpins of each decade and all the other snooker players were all playing catch up....
I want to say a huge thank you to both of you for all the long nights watching snooker Championships throughout the years. Alex Higgins was my all time favorite player but he was a bit of a loose cannon to say the least, and you two were the one's that everyone wanted to beat, looking back now on how remarkable your achievements were and still are in the halls of snooker history. Modern players are of a higher standard now but they haven't the same character as the players of the 80's and 90's.
Thank you guys for giving me some really wonderful memories in the matches I watched and exhibitions I went to see you.
I love these two. Legends of my childhood!
It's a pleasure seeing Steve pick up a cue again
Two true gents who are ambassadors for the sport. If the two of you pair up this channel would be viral around the world. I sat glued waiting on every word that was said.
Both were public enemy no.1
Two primates nothing more
Agreed. They really are an awesome duo
I love how honest Steve is with himself. I idolised him in the early 80's as a kid, but my respect for him has gone through the roof here, so eye opening :)
The final bit at the end where Steve was talking about arm positions was absolutely fascinating! Thank you both for a great video!
Exactly what I thought and then I went through the posts & found yours, well no need to repeat :)
This is brilliant! I could listen to you two all day like this. Was a huge fan of Steve's in the 80s and seeing this other side to you both is great.
This guy is still so humble, true ambassador to the sport, I would of loved to of met my snooker hero or at the least watched him play... unfortunately neither happened
have*
He said he still does the occasional exhibition, so there's still a chance. I was lucky to see him play near the end of his career, at the Crucible, but was amazed to see the difference at an exhibition. With the pressure off, he couldn't miss. He's probably still quite good now, if he isn't talking.
u dont know what u are talking about, have u ever met a humble person?
@@smoofoperator Bad grammar is endemic.
@@sharpvidtube still a chance then lol
Alex's name will always come up in conversation, because he was unique. R I P son 🙏
Brilliant and the respect between them is amazing. You can see how Stephen really idolised Steve.
I think this is my favourite episode yet! Steve Davis actually has great banter! Every player Hendry has interviewed has surprised me. They all seem completely relaxed around him. It's a funny how Brilliant Hendry is considering he was the complete opposite as a player.
This is a brilliant watch - I think that the best thing about the two of them together is that they are completely straight and honest about themselves and each other. No false modesty - it would be silly for them to not recognise they were both great, with each of them being the best of their respective generation - but also able to admit and discuss their weaknesses together. All discussed with humility and humour. They weren't my favourite players when they were winning everything (I think I am programmed to favour the underdog!), but I have complete respect for Stephen and Steve!
Snookers definitely not a sport right it's a game of aim control and patience nothing more
@@matimus100 I’m not sure why you’ve commented this here - I didn’t mention anything about it being a sport or otherwise.
@@matimus100 I don't know if it is considered a sport or not, but the top pros also have great coordination when they bring their cue through to hit an exact spot on the cue ball. Even on a safety shot, pros like Mark Selby, hit the ball so well, that they can snooker you a lot of the time. Patience alone, won't get you very far against guys like that, because they can force errors on you. They can force you to play a long, difficult shot, because there may be no way to play a safety. Every shot in snooker is a physical act, so it may well, be a sport, something like golf. You stand still, line up your shot, take your swing, and try to knock the cue ball, into another ball, and into a hole. You also have to play position for your next shot. The big money, snooker tournaments, are played on big tables, with small, difficult pockets. Much more difficult pockets, than a 9 ball, or 8 ball table.
The content just gets better and better. Keep it coming Stephen.
Steve Davies...ABSOLUTE LEGEND. I love this, two of the greats, having a chat and playing some snooker. Perfect!
It’s great to see the 2 greatest of all time relaxed and having an honest open discussion. Stephen has turned into a great commentator. His ruthless and honest analysis of others playing is so refreshing
The Nugget is my all time sporting hero..Followed his career from the very early days and have been fortunate enough to have had a round of golf with him at Stoke Poges ( as was ). His putting from way off the green was a joy to watch. He is a master of pace judgment, unsurprisingly. So glad I found this channel, keep it up Stephen, and thanks.
Agreed
Respect...and to think he was a black ball away from 7 too
That was priceless. Steve Davis was (and is) my snooker hero back when I were a lad and he was truly interesting. Like him I was well peeved when Stephen Hendry came long and won everything, and again like him I ended up realising how brilliant he was. I love seeing them together having a laugh when all the rivalry is long past them and they can put on their slippers and puff on their invisible pipes. Two snooker gods who have provided me with more entertainment over the years than I can thank them for. I wonder… has Steve ever tried to convert Stephen to the joys of Magma?
Notice how Stephen didn't bring up music at all, I think that answers your question😂
Steve’s music is very much an acquired taste!
Great to listen to these two. Both great champions in their respective eras. It’s amazing how much Steve Davis understands how grip and arm position can effect how hard and straight you hit a ball.
Not amazing really considering he was a multiple world champion
Love this. Lovely to see two world champions being so confident and modest. Great insight into their genius.
i love stephens passion on every shot even in a laidback situation like this. love these vids! the best snooker channel on youtube for sure.
I think it’s his competitiveness. It came (unintentionally) out v Davis. Like a reflex.
@@johnsrabe he never not tries on the shot, in all his vids. against anyone, competitive yes
@@jacobread9650 I agree but he plays better against Davis, yes?
He only got Nugget on so he could finally win a frame.
How long have you two been in love 💋
How can you not love Steve Davis
I wonder what Steve thought of the Spitting Image character of him in the 80s?
I love him now but hated him in the 80’s
Meet him and you will know the answer. Sorry but true.
That was fantastic. Two of my favourite snooker players, great to see them relaxed, having a laugh and sharing some interesting stories and snooker insights. More of this please Mr Hendry
Amazing to see that even with all their skills over decades they can still learn from each other.
Utterly fantastic watching the both of you chatting like this. I started watching snooker around the time Steve started winning. I was definitely more a Davis fan than I was of the new upstart Hendry (no offence). To see you playing and chatting as friends is just fantastic.
I’ve now watched this episode about 5 times if only hear Steve Davis’ impression of Alex Higgins once more. Brilliant! The Nugget Yarwood!
One of the highlights of my life was shaking the then retired Steve Davis's hand after he asked me to read my newspaper while in a cafe in the centre of Sheffield while the World Snooker Championships was taken place.I think he possibly thought it was the cafe's newspaper but it was actually mine and I did not mind in the very least.
Tbh he was my snooker hero while growing up and that moment will live with me for the rest of my life!
''yeah that was shit'' haha love steve
Steve is my snooker hero too and I respect Stephen too.
Steve is honestly such a gent and such a funny man at times. really enjoying these videos...congrats Stephen

Hi Steve.
Can we please have more of Steve Davis? This was absolutely brilliant.
Thanks
More Steve Davis content please. Absolutely wonderful to hear the banter between you two. Could watch it all day
This video is amazing.. so endearing, casual, yet informative and full of fan service. It's also great seeing these two fellas so famous for being so distant and quiet being so open and charismatic.
Loving seeing the two legends together, having fun, while being so informative. Thanks to you both.
Steve’s a legend , such a cool person he is. Always enjoyed his commentary.
It’s absolutely incredible to see and hear 2 of the very best ever talk about the game in this way. Steve is so humble and Stephen is so knowledgeable - I’m absolute trash at snooker but to hear these guys share their experiences is a total joy. Thanks SH
You think you're trash?
When Steve mentioned needing glasses, I thought "christ, I need more than glasses, nowadays- I need a telescopic scope, a laser, a spotter with a rangefinder and probably a couple of orbital satellites just to hit the pack off the break 😂
@@peterclarke7240 haha...me 2 🤗
Fascinating listening to two legends of the game. That final piece of advice from Steve was also insanely simple and valuable. Ronnie may be the most entertaining to watch and yet I’ll always miss the watching these two play.
Loved watching that. Watched you both through your careers, so great to hear the stories outside of a studio.
We have these two to thank for so much in the game. It’s almost impossible to think that we’ll ever see another pioneer like either of these two true visionaries.
Love the way Steve was like, ‘stuff this I’m going to hit the ball up and down the spots’ at the end 😂😂
Could see how gutted he was that Stephen did it perfectly😂
Easy lover
Thank you so much for making this recording, you have both been heroes of mine and it is so enlightening to listen and enjoy your social interaction. Cheers!👍
Alex Higgins walked into our local pub vault, had 1drink, 1game of pool and doubled the black to win, got 1 massive cheer and went straight in the best side to rejoin his group who were with a local band, one of which, lived on our estate.thanks for the memory Jane and rip Alex higgins
two total legends.. huge respect for both of these gentlemen
What a gem of a video, thanks guys 👍
I could leave this video playing in the background all day. 2 absolute sporting legends who I always rooted against when they played having a laugh and being hugely entertaining with such insight.
Stephen, you said it was a "pleasure"! Let me assure both of you, Steve and Stephen: it was a wonderful pleasure for me as a viewer to watch and listen as you both talked snooker! Steve, your World Title in the mid-1980's was the first snooker match I watched while living in Victoria on Vancouver Island, on cable tv, seeing it on a Seattle USA channel! I was hooked! I clearly remember that final with Dennis Taylor and the infamous re-spotted black. I was devastated, so can only imagine how you felt! I missed out on Stephen Hendry's era because my wife did not wish to have a tv while our children were young, but I do remember a Scottish Doctor assuring me that Stephen Hendry was the greatest Snooker player ever, and he would not hear of any comparison to Steve Davis! Only recently have I been following snooker once again, now that it is on CZcams! I get excited every time Ronnie O'Sullivan plays! Win or lose, he certainly enlivens a match.
Love this channel Stephen. The stories and insights from the different players are brilliant
Love from a dog everyone very strange

And these gentleman is what we call a "Masterpiece"!
This is an excellent set up. I really feel like I've bumped in to these guys down the pub and they're just reminiscing right there in front of me. It feels so relaxed and candid. Never ever imagined Steven Hendry with such an open sense of humour, even less than I used to feel about Steve Davis. Just great camaraderie and mutual respect. I'm surprised one of the terrestrial channels didn't take up this series. So, to the future, all I can see missing guys is a pint in your hands! Thanks for putting this together, Steve H. Looking forward to future episodes!
I’m old enough to have followed Davis in the 80s and although it wasn’t cool to support him over the rebels he was always my guy. So good to see both of these brilliant champions having a totally natural and frank conversation without egos
Davis “ you can’t play and talk” how true I wish I could follow his advice
The Nugget is an absolute legend! He was the antidote to the starchy slow players, and to the flakey flair of the speedsters. Just did everything perfectly, consistently. He's a lovely guy, humble and hilarious. And a class musician on eurorack these past few years! He's a real hero 👏👍
Indeed

He thinks snookers a sport which is a total lie
I just absolutely love the Nugget. And Henry was my man growing up in the 90s . This was ace. Steve Davis always cracks me up, on a League of Their Own and everywhere else.
Hearing Steve Davis groaning “that’s a long way down…” made my day. We are the same age and I do that on every shot…! 😂

Love this show so much Stephen is doing a great job and an amazing host. What an episode with having Davis on with 13 World Championships between them wow! Hendry is still my favourite player of all time and was simply unplayable at his peak. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic to see Steve with a cue in his hand again. Both of these have a great sense of humour, love it
This channel is great. I’ve never been a very big snooker fan but these videos makes me wanna start watching and playing. What a wonderful advert for the sport and I hope it keeps growing!
So nice to see these two snooker legends chat like this about good old days. Brings me back to early 90's when i watched snooker on Eurosport.
One more message. It's been a absolute pleasure.. watching you both.
Best episode ever! Great to see two legends of the game chatting about their strengths and weaknesses in such a mutual respect, then the Steve davies coaching bit at the end depending on your elbow position was to believeable! Can’t wait for the next episode
Fantastic. I was a Higgins then Jimmy then Ronnie fan . You two recorded this and now you both up there with them . Thanks a million .

Stephen you are brilliant to listen to and I loved how you let Steve go on a tangent and ramble - fascinating stuff! Keep up the hard work - 100k is round the corner
This was absolutely brilliant just what we need. Behind the scene situations exposed in a good way and fun while doing it and also the technical side of playing from 2 of the greatest of all time. Steve D always goes on about how boring he is but far from it he tells a great story and explains technices in great detail. Love this channel can't wait for the next one keep up the great work SH👍
What about doing one with a leading referee at some point they could tell us funny stories im sure and explain what they are looking at when sighting a ball for possible re-position etc after a miss i don't think any of this has ever been covered.
