Erotica is my favourite album and that era was so important to me. The Girlie Show Beast Within song helped me understand I am a normal guy and than there is a thing called being gay.
At the time, the biggest pop musician was using her power to make an uncompromising album about sex and AIDS but telling you it’s not freaky to be into it

I think Madonna’s only mistake was releasing the album, the book and the movie Body of Evidence so close to each other… I remember the hateful things they were writing in the papers well! This era just made me love her even more ❤
There’s no way she could have stopped the film though once it was made I think. I think she thought she definitely would get away with it as she had with Justify my Love and everything else that came before it

I remember seeing an interview where she said that she couldn’t go a day without reading something horrible about her and that she was ready to throw in the towel. She vowed to not read the press anymore and I’m so glad she dusted herself off and got herself back out there! It feels like history repeating itself again recently with her recent videos and the trolls are loving it! All because she’s not conforming “normal behaviour” for a woman of her age! Would they rather she post videos of her knitting or something!? She’s Madonna FFS… she’s always behaved this way and long may she reign! ❤️👑

Actually I wanted to comment about it and say thank you for this documentary it was so incredible,amazing and the full of story what happened back then and it was totally unfair. After this documentary I love Erotica and the whole era even more than I used to. You have to be open-minded to understand her career, her impact, her legacy actually. I admit that I started as a hater and then became a fan of hers. I also understood Erotica, The Sex Book etc when I actually open my mind. There are so many steoreotypes, must things to do but I think this album actually opened doors. She talked about ageism, sexism, misoginy, homophobia and racism back in the days people wouldn't admit these things existed. For many people it took years to understand in what a world we live in...When I saw that misogynism, ageism and sexism exists I stopped judging or hating. When I opened my mind and gave another chance to the Erotica album and era I truly loved it and I still do. It became my favourite Madonna album and all the hate and criticism she faced, all the comments and comparisons shows how strong she is that she made it through this difficult journey. One more thing I admire her is that she never apologized for realising the Erotica album and the book. I'm glad that decades later this album and the Sex book are recognized and appreciated. I'm glad I opened my mind and understood a lot of things. I love Madonna's rebellious spirit, her being open-minded and trying to break all the stereotypes and she didn't follow society's rules. She played the game with her own rules and she won! She's a fighter and a rebel plus one of the many icons that played a big part in pop culture and continued the legacy and opened doors along with other legends and women! From the Madame X era and still...I may not be a big fan of hers but I do admit that she left her fingerprint for good in this industry. I love and appreciate everything she offered in society and in the music industry. I love how in the beginning I totally misunderstood her and didn't understand her artistry but in the end I did understand her artistry, what she offered, what she did, her achievements, her tour, her music. Yes maybe I don't like her music since Madame X was released but...I can't ignore or reject what she did, what she offered, I can't cancel nor her artistry or her creativity and activism. So my whole life, has been filled of Madonna's music, beauty, classy, dance, fitness, intelligence, feminism, and equality, among a thousand of more things. I have always lived my life not only with her influential and artistic expression. But strangely, feeling very next to her work! In 1992, I had a radio program with content of sexual education for teenagers in Latin-America, as you can imagine at that time, EVERYTHING was polemic. So, by that time, Madonna launched the SEX book. It was in September. Of 1992 Two months later, in November, I got a phone call from a local TV show inviting me to talk about the SEX book of M and giving my opinion about it, besides another selected people on the front row of the show! I immediately assumed the importance of the invitation, and assumed that I had to give a very well thought opinion about the product, the book, and the artist. But also about myself. I think I did it well. It was the beginning of a long ride with Madonna. I think these documentaries and podcast are extremely important for those who had never seen M"s work and life as an artist, I find them really important for the present and future generations. Madonna has paved the way for us, has helped us to embrace our freedom and boldness, not only as women, men, binary, non-binary, gay, queer, etc. But as human beings too. She has made us even more brilliant and capable to express ourselves, but also to show empathy, compassion and love, in one person like no other, A piece of advice for the youngest, watch her live shows. Observe the aesthetic and artistic expression on the process and get your own conclusions. I love the Erotica Era. The album, the book and the movie are 3 in 1 well-thought masterpieces to piss people off and it worked. And the tour Girlie Show was just icing on the cake, a great way to close the era. And one other thing is she's at peak at her beauty, the hair, the make up, the body, were just perfect.

I love the Erotica Era. The album, the book and the movie are 3 in 1 well-thought masterpieces to piss people off and it worked. And the tour Girlie Show was just icing on the cake, a great way to close the era. And one other thing is she's at peak at her beauty, the hair, the make up, the body, were just perfect.
