How have the windows been now that they have been in through a winter? I just requested a quote for the same Marvin fiberglass double hung windows. I am debating between these and casement. Thanks and your house looks very nice, I like the garage.
@@davidunderwood4341 Ok, thanks for the quick answer. I think those are the same windows we are looking at, they are fiberglass. The quote we received was about $2,600 per window, 28 windows and 2 patio doors for about $78k. That seems very high to us, but since this is our first replacement window purchase we have no idea. We thought it would be closer to $50k. We do have a two more estimates for this week so we'll see what they have to say.
@@SquidzitAce Yeah, our windows were so expensive! We just bit the bullet though because it's a small cost to the big picture. Not to mention they are a well built window.

Great question! It doesn't have any indicators on the window nor does it have any info in the instructions saying to screw it. The flange seems to hold the windows pretty rigid. However, I was thinking, before drywall, I might run a pilot hole on all four corners and use T15 torque screws (tiny heads). The doors come with the same perimeter flange, but the doors definitely need screws because they have more movement after nailing the flange.Thanks for your comment!
I am doing research for replacement windows and first choice after couple of weeks of meeting with different companies is Marvin infinity .. around 50k for replacing all windows .. any idea how bad is the curb appeal moving from a wood to fiberglass
It looks great. It's high quality and maintainence free. I like them because the fiberglass doesn't expand or contact and is not flammable. They are really good windows but definitely pricey!
@@stevebbkny2394 total 11 openings , 5 are large with 4/5 windows and transom, now reduced to 3 + 1 transom .. price for Anderson fibrex came down to 45k with no transom .. but finally settled with Marvin fiberglass as it mostly matches with current setup .. still waiting to get installed , minor delays I believe related to supply chain issues
In the video I said the second tape on the sill isn't recommended. I meant to say it's not required. To me paying the extra money to get the entire sill covered was well worth it. Thanks for watching!

After you nail the windows on the exterior sheathing, do you screw them from the inside anywhere?
