So nice to see an original, old piece of equipment that hasn't been painted and "restored". I like to keep 'em in good running condition, but as original as possible. Looks like it may just need a chain and some grease, eh?
Love the sickle. For years, I rode on a jacobsen F10 mowing grass at golf complex and adjacent contract mowed land, and the only thing that didn't go well was thick stemmed weeds that would lay over and just get marked up a little by the knives. An attachment for a sickle for one pass in every 5 would've been great to keep those knocked down.
got a video up of mine nearly all fixed up and i am driving it around in the video. fun to drive! oh and my rollers started to fall apart and one fell off so i decided to make all new ones. so i have a nice piece of oak on the lath now that i started turning i just have to go finish it some night this week and i can cut 3 rollers out of that chunk of oak and i found a 4th already that will work.
@Cletrac well i have the back axle and wheels off a 1920's or 1930's hit and miss engine cart so i guess a sulkey that looks period to the mower will be in the works.
@1944johndeerel The wheels on mine are cast iron. I was told that the rubber covers like you have were optional equipment. I had a Moto-Mower Standard model years ago that had the same rubber covers on the wheels. Does yours have the sickle mower on the front like mine does?
With all them old mowers how come yer grass looks like shit? LOL, Sorry man had to mess with you. I'm so glad I stumbled across these old machines, they are so intresting. I remember my first cut fnger, or maybe the first cut finger I remember, came from a old push reel mower. I was maybe 2, had my bibs come to think of it, damn I was a cute baby. I couldn't leave the mower alone, dad told me to, so I cut my finger, not bad I don't think, I remember screaming bloody murder.
Does yours have a serial number on it? I came across one that has a serial number and Im trying to find info about this mower. Its in good condition, I would like to find more about this tho... Any info or websites you can offer me would great. Thanks

Old pull rope start -- Man, I sure remember wrapping and pulling till I greyed out... LOL !

Awesome Motor,and mower!
Looks like it was used for a battering ram to. lol 👍
i would love to restore that! its great hey! get on your lath and make a new roller! thanks for the vid!!
DUDE I've seen stuff like this for sale in my Cincinnati Times-Star News Papers!!! It's from my collection of papers from the early 50's!
this is excellent
That is sweet!!
I wish the newer Briggs motors had a heavy flywheel like this and heavy made parts to hold more Inertia for the torque they produce.
👍🏻 nice

yep! sure does.
@1944johndeerel They did offer a sulky for these mowers, so I would guess your hitch would be optional equipment.
@Cletrac is the little drawbar mine has also an option? i assume its for pulling a sulkey.
Thats sounds awesome. OSHA approved?? :P
I'll see what I can do, but I'm starting a new job tomorrow and will be working long hours.

does yours have fully metal wheels? mine has metal wheels but the corragated outside part of the wheel is rubber.
Im pretty sure every WA in existence has the gas tank ding where people ran into stuff.
motorwheeler Yep! You can pretty much bet an old Briggs was on a MotoMower if the tank side is caved in.
can you show it in action mowing? id like to see that!
@505197 Too many toys to play with. No time for a manicured yard! LOL!

Does yours have a rope cup on it like this one?
It looks like that mower was designed for chopping people down instead of weeds. Just imagine the outrage if that thing came out today.
man that thing looks nasty
OSHA approved?? I doubt it...
