    At about 35 minutes the lift and doors are part of the potato store and wash place. The lift is only up yo the next deck where the galley is.

    It would be nice if someone built an "updated" Titanic ship. One of the fatal flaws in the "replica" idea is nobody wants to sail on a museum. No matter how beautiful these old ships were, most of us today would not find them very comfortable. It would have to be a balance of modern amenities and the feel of the original ship.
    You could easily build around the ship's original floorplans, recreating the most famous room (Grand Staircases, smoking room, lounge, dining room etc.) and updating where needed. For example, expand the Turkish Baths into a modern spa and create a larger, modern-day swimming pool. Segregating the ship by class would be totally eliminated, so spaces like the Third Class Dining Saloon would be unnecessary, and the space repurposed (such as a modern gymnasium or other amenities). Some of the nicest first-class suites could be recreated (for those willing to pay an arm and a leg), and the rest of the cabins would be modern cruise cabins (perhaps with an Edwardian decorative flair).
    It would be expensive to build, but so are some of the new cruise ships costing hundreds of millions of dollars. Maybe cruise companies don't think they'd make the money back, but I would think there is potential for an enormous amount of interest in a something like this. It would be key they actually had faithful replications in the rooms they recreated, and effectively combined the modern aspects...not do some cheap, knock-off version (like the Titanic Museum's Grand Staircase, which absolutely does not feel like the real thing).

    if the hotel wanted a pool for guests, they could rebuild the 2nd class pool. And because it would be a rebuild, they could build it to ADA Standards.

    Hm, now I'm curious if it was the Burma road that they used for Shaqtoberfest maze on Halloween. The entrance was at the gangway at the bow and the exit aft gangway - one before the entrance to the engine exhibit.

    The planks were used as ramps to move the inflatable lifeboats off the very top deck. they are seen in use in the movie.

      There were no inflatable lifeboats on titanic. They were called collapsible boat. They had a wooden keel bottom with canvas sides that folded up to create the sides when used. They used the oars that night to attempt to get them down from the roof of the officer’s quarters. There was actually equipment to use for getting the boats down but they were stored in the bow but as we know this area of the ship was under water by the time the crew got to these boats after launching all the other boats

      @bvf8 Yes I agree, I had a feeling that those stacked planks were not for getting the collapsibles down, partly because if that were true, they would be stored near the collapsibles, and not so far away and hard to reach.

    Love this Titanic demo Alex, but how do you push through those doors to enter a different space? I was playing around with the version 3 demo but all I could do was walk around up and down stairs/ ladders, etc. I noticed you sometimes get to a door and something happens and then you're past the closed door into the space beyond it. How do you navigate that way? Is it one of the function keys on the keyboard? I'm not a gamer, and I can be technically challenged at times. 🙂

    What does that person mean by moonless night is unusual, it happens every month there are nights where there is no moon. Some people have very funny lives if they don’t notice these things

    • @ksavage681
      @ksavage681 Před 3 měsíci

      Only a few days out of a whole month that are moonless, so yes its unusual circumstance.

    • @bfv8
      @bfv8 Před 3 měsíci

      @@ksavage681 what’s unusual, it happens and the night titanic happen to hit a iceberg and sink was unfortunately one of these nights, which made it harder to see the iceberg. But the person saying it’s unusual sounds like they had no idea there was moonless nights every month which to me seems unusual lol.
