- The Illuminate are an illusive member of the Helldivers universe. They were a vicious enemy in Helldivers 1, and it looks like they will be coming to Helldivers 2. I cover the history of the Illuminate as well as their possible roll in this video.

Nah, they damage probably wont be eletric, it would be kind of goofy, to have an armor that resist 95% of the enemies damage too. Much much probably they Will use dark fluid as fuel to their weapons

@@brunomonteiro7788we used their tech to pump dark fluid into meridia aswell so I think the illuminate will arrive through the black hole.
As someone who fought the illuminates in HD1. I always felt that for all the advancements they have, the illuminate always felt kinda cult like. It was bad enough that they shoot lightning and that were blue. But they also took in Super earth traitors. I would love to see those bottom feeding cultist squids come back. I really do as I have a score to settle with them. Them becoming more desperate cultists wont stop me from blasting them with a bomb.

Put bluntly, I find it very hard to believe that Super Earth actually defeated The Illuminate during the First Galactic War. We know for a fact that we defeated the Terminids and put them in the Element-710 Farms and we also know for a fact we defeated the Cyborgs given the state of Cyberstan. What happened to The Illuminate though? They just vanished? That's not like Super Earth at all.
So, what really happened?
I suspect that after defeating the Terminids and the Cyborgs, Super Earth was out of steam and conflict with The Illuminate had ground to a stalemate. The Illuminate undeniably had superior technology and likely did not commit their entire force to the conflict for reasons unknown. How could a diminished Super Earth have won?
Here's what The Ministry Of Truth really does not want anyone to know...
We did not defeat them, we instead brokered a truce with them. Super Earth lied to their citizens so to not lose face.
I strongly suspect that the Dark Fluid we used on Meridia was not "liberated" from The Illuminate, it was a peace offering from them to Super Earth. Dark Fluid was never meant to be used as a weapon, it was meant to be used by Super Earth as a renewable energy source for the FTL systems, which is also technology we "liberated" from The Illuminate; likely another lie. Prior to the FTL Super Earth was using Alcubierre Drives on their ships, which we still use for shorter duration jumps around planetary orbits.
Why did The Illuminate do this though?
Why didn't they wipe out a weary Super Earth when they could have?
I think the answer lies in their culture. The Illuminate are a naturally pacifist people and are deeply religious. They chose to give us the benefit of the doubt and gave us the means to pursue a less aggressive way.
However… pacificism is seldom profitable, neither is a renewable energy source as opposed to Element-710.
This will all come to a head now that Super Earth succeeded in collapsing Meridia into a black hole using a weaponised version of the same Dark Fluid given as a peace offering and gesture of faith. I think upon seeing what Super Earth has done The Illuminate will return, this time in full force, with the express goal of subduing Super Earth. There is no way that they will allow Super Earth to retain the ability to collapse planets and potentially shatter space-time, especially when they also have to share the blame because they chose to believe Super Earth could be better if shown another way.
Ngl this theory may actually be true, it just doesn’t make sense for super earth to win with how advanced the illuminate are.
I think Super Earth won only because the Illuminate in our galaxy are a tiny fraction of the whole. After humanity won the war, the survivors left the galaxy to go home and report what happened.
The Illuminate we're going to see in HD2 looks to be reinforcements from beyond.

Phenomenal take! I agree 100% and suspect this is how the illuminate will show up, and some of the reasoning why. I'm very curious to see if the Meridia black hole is actually a worm hole, and then that's where the Illuminate pop out of.
I think you forgot to mention the wall generator that made you explode yourself with your own rpg and isolated you from your friends. Over all, very nice video man.

I low key had a lot of fun playing some HD 1 again to get footage for this video. Still a great game.
The strider IMO looks heavily inspired by the Tripods "War of The Worlds" Wouldn't be surprised if they had the same laser attack as them.

These things look properly eldritch. Also, I can see they drew some inspiration from Gene-Stealer Cults from 40K.
Anyway, can wait to see my team get turned into red mist against the new striders. If their guns work like that walker tank from Umbara, where it just arcs between fools and vaporizes them, that would be fucking awesome.
