How to Remove and Replace a BMW X3 (G01) Mirror & Mirror Cap

- I made this video on how to remove and replace the mirror caps on my 2018+ BMW X3 (G01) to hopefully help others.
I have done a few small cosmetic mods on my car myself over lockdown, and used youtube to show me how.
I tried searching online for a specific video or help for an X3 but couldn't find any.....so I made one myself.
Below is the link to the X3M style Mirror Caps I installed. There are others available, but these are what I ordered. Very reasonably priced and the quality was really good on the ones I received:

I just did it accordingly on the facelift model and it’s really that easy. 15 minutes. Nothing broke, the caps fit just as well as the original ones. Thanks for the instructions!

Great video and just ordered these for my 40d. I think you having a gloss black finish really helps with the extra mods you have fitted. Not sure the front splitter or side skirts would look quite as good on my photonic Blue 🤔👍🏻
thank you for the video, installed those on x3 2022 LCI and it fit well, as other commented, no need to remove mirror glass

Great video! Any video on the front lip splitter? What is your opinion on getting a one piece front lip vs the ones that come in 4 pcs that have to be screwed on together before mounting on the car? Thanks.

I had it on my 20d, but have since got an M40i. I put the splitter on my M40i and recorded it, so will put a video up soon hopefully.

Hey, no not really, maybe a little bit but nothing that I notice. A small sacrifice for a slightly cooler look 😂

It is a gloss black “M” side fender badge. 👍🏻
@@ghostrider3547 after watching your video I bought and fitted the wing mirrors. Looks brilliant and your instructions were superb 👍🏻. I’ve found the M double slated front grille online for £59 and I’ll look for the side fender M badge but how did you fit it? Any links appreciated 👍🏻

Did you have to replace your front Kidney Grille to get the M logo? Trying to find this online 👍🏻
The badge didn’t come in my double slat grille so I ordered a cheap x3m grille badge from Ali express that fit on my grilles (so that I had the fixing for the grille badge. I then removed the cheap looking x3m badge (as looked cheap and mine isn’t an X3M), ordered a gloss black “m” fender badge from eBay and stuck that on the grille badge fixing. 😀. Subtle but looks quite good in my opinion haha.
@@ghostrider3547 superb mate, it looks really good and I can see you’ve done some investigating to find a good solution. I’ve the standard gloss black grille but realise from looking I’d need that double slate type before doing the same. I’ve ordered the wing mirrors so that’s one job done and then I’ll sort the grilles 😉👍🏻

Quality of them are just the same as when I installed them. No colour change or warping etc 👍🏻
When driving at high-speed do the mirrors make a whistling sound?...
Yeah a little bit, but only noticeable if the window is open. It is the same on the genuine X3M mirrors also. 👍🏻

will this mirror fit my 2014 X3 28i?
Hey, I don’t think the ones I have would as these fit the G series X3.
The 2014 X3 is known as an F25 model, so you would need something like the below link:

Tried this and shattered my mirror. It’s not necessary to remove. Did the other side just prying off the cap and it worked perfectly. I recommend not doing this!
