Udit Narayan was struggling from 1980. When none of the music directors of that time gave songs to Udit Narayan, it was only RD Burman who gave Udit Narayan, his first notable hit song in the movie 'Bade Dilwala' (1983) and that too a chance to sing with legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Similarly, RD Burman also gave Abhijeet Bhattacharya his first breakthrough in Dev Anand's movie 'Anand Aur Anand' (1984), where he gave 3 songs to Abhijeet and also an opportunity to sing with the legends like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Also, RD Burman gave the singer Hariharan his first hit song in the movie 'Boxer' (1984). If we go a decade back in 1975, RD Burman also gave the first hit song to Amit Kumar in the movie 'Balika Vadhu'. So, what we can point out from all these instances is that RD Burman helped everyone.

Kishorji used to take 1rs less than Lataji when he sang a duet with her. The reason is: czcams.com/video/4gJHvd4MG0w/video.html. This variation Kishor would never be able to take. And he recognized it. Typically Male sound is considered a better since it is more deep and can take variations that Female throat cannot usually produce. But Lataji's voice at higher frequency could do wonders like the one here. In Indian classical it is called a "murka" i.e a sudden quick variation of notes around a note.
