Is this the worst ski season at Perisher? Is worth it?

  • We're back for one last ski trip to Perisher for the 2023 season. Unfortunately the warm weather has continued in Australia resulting in very poor conditions across the ski resorts.
    Let's explore the mountain under poor conditions even though its supposed to be peak season. I visited the last week of August and here are my thoughts.

    one of the most informative reviewers of snow conditions and details useful for beginners. Soundtrack is best on mute, but then you'd miss the narration

      Yes fingers crossed it is a lot better next year! It’s so hard to know like the start of this season was so good then it all changed.

    I was up at Guthega, Blue Cow and Perisher that week. It was not great and there was NO XC skiing available :-( at all but I got to ski three solid days on the lifts on machine made slush. When it was raining and yuk I went did other stuff in the Kosci. N.P..

      Yeah the weather really wasn’t great but there were a few windows that were okay if you don’t mind slushy snow 😂

    I was planning to go 1st week of october next year 2024, and i really want to go to perisher since it's going to be my first snow 😢

      You’ll have a great time! The only thing is it’s very late in the season so there is a high chance there won’t be much open. If it’s your first time it might not be an issue as you probably won’t be able to explore much of the mountain as a beginner.

    What time were you there? We usually go mid August but have had to push next year‘s trip back to first week of September. Praying for a better year!

      That’s usually a very safe time of year to go as it’s peak season. This year was particularly unusual. I usually go late June (which has strangely been the best the last 4 years) and mid august (which wasn’t as good this year).

    What dates was this? I went 10th-15th September and blue cow, Guthega and smiggins was already finished.

      I went the last week of august and left probably the 2nd or 3rd of September

    aren’t they replacing the double with it?

    • @JohnDeMartin
      @JohnDeMartin  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes they are replacing the double with the new six. They’ve already taken the double down for this season so they can finish it by next season

    they just need to lower the ticket prices

    • @JohnDeMartin
      @JohnDeMartin  Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah it’s so expensive if you don’t get the epic pass early

      @MisterTMH Před 10 měsíci

      It is cheaper to XC ski /Back Country ski if there is real snow or ski in NZ or Japan and they have real snow.@@JohnDeMartin
