I would put that book in a humidity-controlled case and don't handle it, that's worth a good amount of money I would imagine, or will be

@@tarotoculus Oh good, because I generally throw them in a pile and step on them or drop them off of things. No signed books or first editions though

Great review, thank you for posting! This is one of my favorite books, though I have a later edition and the Portable (paperback version). As good as the Llewellyn versions are, I prefer this one. I especially enjoy the Tarot chapter, as it goes so deep into the cards, and the explanation and step by step directions for the Opening The Key layout.

I consider this book essential reading for helping understand the tarot as well as the Gold Dawn. Thank you for watching!

I own this very same book. It is beautiful but I find it beyond confusing and deliberately obscure. Very frustrating how something so simple can be made to appear so complex.

Is this the same book as 'The Golden Dawn' which is now in the 7th edition or is it different?

      I believe it is.

No, it is two different books.
The Golden Dawn book was the incomplete Stella Matutina material that Regardie published early in his career.
This book, The Complete Golden Dawn system of magic, he published in the 1980's and is much more complete than the first book.
He also published a book called What you should know about the Golden Dawn, which is more of introductory material about the order.

Oh my, that book looks Beautiful!

  • @brainwashingdetergent4322

Beautiful book! May I ask what the ISBN is for this book? All I find are reprints which have gaudy covers. I’ve been looking for awhile with no luck. Thank you.

Falcon Press, 1984 ISBN: 0941404129 - my copy is missing the yellow sun dust jacket - but that just protects the lovely red board underneath.

@@tarotoculus thank you, and thanks for taking the time to make and post videos. I live in the middle of nowhere, and near no major cities. The nearest B&N is just over two hours away at 75mph, so being able to browse any literature that isn’t on the NYT bestseller list is impossible, not to mention tarot cards. your videos let me see what I cannot in person.

Tarot Oculus well I checked out abebooks.com and found a 1st edition of The Complete Golden Dawn System of Magic (there has to be an abbreviation for that title!) and also found a like new copy of Alchemy & Mysticism (Taschen) and bought them both!
