Let’s all give props to these two hunters, but realize a camera man captured this w out a weapon in his hand and kept the entire shot in frame.
With the hunters between him and the bear!
Good point. Very gutsy.

Cameras have this new ability called zoom.
@@MrJoshfromcali not in British Columbia
I had a cougar charge me in a bar once.
Cool. The question is, then: how many rounds did it take you to down her? :-)
@@WeGoWalk Probably only two or three shots.
CHAM+ THIS LINE IS OLD LIKE YOU
I bet you smelled her now!
How many drinks did she serve you?
Callaghan straight up saved Rinella and the camera crew there. Rinella was fumbling with his gun, nervous, then stumbled even after the warning shot. Callaghan was fucking solid with the warning shot an reload, stood his ground confidently.
Rinella was looking away for a sec,not even paying attention to what's in front of him
I was thinking the same thing. Rinella was very close to being on his back here. Think it would have ended very poorly had it not been for Cal.
Dude was looking away as he's being stalked, then jumped backwards into his pack.
Solo, he'd die. As point man, he'd fail.
@@jrbaconcheez I dunno boss, he was looking pretty shaky there.. lol.

These guys really went above and beyond to spare this bears life here. Took a lot of balls not to shoot her when she was so close and charging. She could have been on top of them in 4-5 seconds tops if she full charged. They put their lives in danger to save hers and the cubs. Anyone bashing them over some animal cruelty bullshit are clueless.
They saved it by not killing it even though they were in clear danger
I said they "spared" the bears life, not "saved". They had 2 high powered rifles pointed at her and their lives were in grave danger, yet they refrained from shooting her. Thus "sparing" her life.
+Mr1987Joe hahahahaa
They were in no danger, during 4-5 seconds, they would shoot it like 10 times, and if it would success to approach, it could jump only on one of them, the another one would have clear shots from like 3 meters, right in the head, it would be dead in second. The guys are experienced, so the one who would be attacked, would lie on the ground, and cover his head and neck... bear cannot kill you in 2 seconds, when you are lying on the ground, and covering your neck.
On the internet, there is video about leopard, that jumped on 2 guys, they hit him several times, but it was fast, like in 3 seconds, it was on them, but as long, as it jumped at the one, it stoped to move, going to bite him in the neck, but other guy has of course clear shot... he just aim at the head, and leopard was dead. Though much deadlier, and faster killer, hurted the guy, but nothing close to dead... the bear would have no chance to kill two experienced guys with rifles.
On internet, there is a footage of "bear man" killed by bear, only audio tape, it took the large bear to kill him more than minute. During that time, you would kill the bear even with glock.
C.R. Whitlock *WARNING: OBJECTS MAY BE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR ON CAMERA!
I know it looked like she was farther away but she was at top speed, approx 25mph or 35fps. She'd have been on them closer to about 1.5 seconds in my opinion. I think the tracker was firing a warning shot and counting on giggles to make the kill shot. Look that shit up. Bears are FAST and she wasn't any farther than 20 or 30 yards MAX!
In a parallel universe that mom got shot but not before killing these two and watching her babies feed on their bodies while she withered out of existence.
In another parallel universe society is very utilitarian and not PC. They killed the charging mother and her cubs. Mom for the meat and because she threatened their lives. And the cubs because the meat again, utilitarians remember. And we all know, orphan bears grow up to be those ass holes bears that are always in the trash, even if you lock the fucking cans!

I commend these guy's for being professional and confident enough to know when and when not to shoot to kill. Their experience and frame of mind is obvious. Well Done Sirs!
Tye Seeley anyone who shoots grizzly bears is a coward.
@JonSwift- Love to see how tough you are when there's a 2,000lb grizzly charging you.
What does coward or bravery have to do with harvesting a bear? Anyone who eats meat, fish or poultry from a package has the luxury of eating withouting risk or responsibility.
Those of us that hunt and eat our food have far greater risk and responsibility to that which we eat. What personal investment do you have to buying your food?
Contrary to the elitist anti-kill anything most hunter gatherers understand the responsibility it requires on a ethical & moral level. The above video is a example of exsperiance and those values.
Tye Seeley you are not killing a bear to eat it, you are killing a bear for fun and to get a buzz out of murdering a big and dangerous animal. That is the difference. The bear is an apex predator and normal circumstances would be let be, a human would hunt deer, rabbit, small game and fish and harvest berries, seeds, roots. However there is little "fun" from that compared to the thrill of murdering big animals. That is why it is pathetic.
what a stupid comment! just because your local supermarket does not offer bear does not mean people dont eat it. such sjw crap
"Smell us now."
Translated: I need a new pair of pants
That’s what I thought he went
That’s what I would’ve been thinking. She’d smell the scent running down my leg. Lmao
lmao that makes it so much funnier how confident he said it "smell us now, lady because i've just *shat everywhere* "
Lucky his wife works in an apparel company.
exactly what I thought!
I'm surprised they didn't shoot. As close as she was, as fast as she was moving, that was NOT a safe distance. These two guys spared her life while risking theirs, hats off. And cameraman is fearless for catching this moment without screaming and running away.
Eh.. he would of shot that bear in the head in 3 secs
Mf didnt even shaked
I think a large part was that there was more than just one guy there. I think if it had just been Callaghan with a GoPro, he would have unloaded. I think there was some hesitation because they knew there was another gun at the ready, should one of them get taken down. A back-up, if you will. Either that or just happenstance that the bear veered away just as he was going for a kill shot.
You don’t shoot a bear coming at you if you want to live. Very few bear interactions are fatal, and most of the ones that are the bears are injured or dying
They did shoot, just not the sow
Steven is zoned out while the bear is about to rush.
He really was scared shitless while Ryan holds his ground
She obviously mistook that dudes mustache for a moose, only to find out it was just two hunters when she got close.
+Jeff Hahn she mistook the mooostache
that dosent even make any fuucking sense
I’m ded
Probably the most logical explanation if we’re being honest!
Some of you are criticizing these guys? They shot several rounds in front of the bear when she was less than 30 yards away. At some point they wouldn't have been able to get another round off to protect themselves. That was both heroic, in terms of not killing the bear and professional. Kudos.
Agreed
Several = 1 lol :D
Well if the round didn't kill the bear they would have been fucked, that's why the don't shoot them! And the sound should scare them!
what? they're out there with rifles wanting to kill! mindless, no wonder we're all doomed.
No they want meat, the best meat comes of wild animals.
That wasn’t no damn false charge. That was a real charge and their counter attack scared the bear off
Rinella was lucky that other dude was there. He was like me being out there lmao. He lost sight of the bear and didn't even have his gun up when it charged lol
Credit to the cameraman. Holy cow, staying calm in that moment to get the shot.
keep that camera man , he obviously trusts you
He's really trying for a full time gig at national geographic.
The cameraman kept the 2 hunters between him and the bear, lol. Smart man.
I'd be pretty confident 2 experienced grizzly hunters
I know I’d rather be behind the two blokes with the high powered rifles than anything in that moment lol
I got false charged from 50 yards by a big black bear momma with cubs behind her. I was with my 80lb Husky on a single trail outside of Jasper Alberta. I had to pick my dog up and walk backwards for about 1/4 mile till she turned and left. All the pores and nerve endings in my body were open...and pup peed on me ha! Cool video man.
Shark Tooth did you have a weapon just in case she fully charged just in case
Shark Tooth a weapon that would take care of it
@@desm2358 A firearm inside of a Nation Park would be a no no in Canada.
Do they false charge alot? Are they coming to kill then change he there kind?
@@bradthorne22 similar to gorillas, they often fake the charge to see if you move away, showing you submit to their dominance. Although, you never know if it is fake or not. Gorillas have more of a "make loud noise and charge to show you aren't afraid" similarly to us, doubt bears do such often.
Every young hunter should have to watch this. Both hunters kept their cool to preserve this sow for her cubs.It is amazing!
I watched all of this guy's shows on Netflix, the fact that he wasn't ready for the bear blows my mind. His friend probably save their lifes.

I am amazed at how far she went to have her confrontation with these guys. I don't believe this to be a bluff charge. It was a "called off" charge.
Yeah she was showing them she was tired of Berries, she wanted some human meat
Me and my father have been charged a few times by sows (we are from Alaska, common place here when out in the bush. Obviously, every single time we where charged they where false, but still what a great way to get your heart pumping, and a humbling reminder that the only thing humans have goin for them in the wild is their brains (sometimes).
Only it takes is one. Don’t let that false charge thing make you too comfortable..
Steve almost tripped over his back pack when he started back pedaling. That could have been bad!
I feel for that camera man. His only weapon was a lense that zooms in and out haha
The camera man is who saved those guys. Good thing mama bear was having a bad hair day and didn't want to be on camera.
The camera man was behind the other two. The bear would've taken them on first, probably....
He would have had two rifles eventually!
In fairness, most camera men are aware of the risks involved with shooting dangerous stuff. It’s what makes them even more badass.
To suggest that this camera man doesn't have a heavy hitting sidearm in bear country is pretty silly.
I come back to this video every few months, this is such a legendary moment lmao. Callaghan is a badass
In this situation you wanna be with a guy named Callaghan.😂
He didn't shoot the goddamn bear. It was just a warning shot because the bear didn't respond to lighter warnings
These guys have a lot of experience with this, so if they were really trying to shot the bear, they would've shot it. He just shot in front of it and intentionally missed
Why'd the woman delete her comments
I hope people realize I wasn't talking to myself. Thats how it looks when people delete their comments

Love the show on Netflix, great to see even more content here. You've even gotten my wife, a woman who, even being PNW born/raised like myself and an avid outdoorswoman who I've gotten into rafting and backcountry exploring, has never in her life been hunting or killed her food let alone cleaned/dressed an animal, to show interest in at least going out and taking a walk to glass for animals. I haven't been hunting in severl years since I didnt have the ability to use all the meat I would harvest nor a freezer to keep it but now that I do I think it's time to go back out, at the very least I miss the walking in the woods and the time away from the true-awfulness that is a city. Good on ya Steve and thanks for taking us with you on these trips. Much appreciated.

Steven Rinella was not ready at all and didnt take that moment near seriously enough, would of died without his buddy on the left. Good job to that guy being proactive and dialed in for that life or death moment. And great Camera man wow! =)
Legendary!! Great moment...Why would someone dislike this? Ryan didn't appear to flinch at all....absolutely legendary.
the poise and stance of callaghan is remarkable. the experience between the two shows through the fundamentals like this.
"Smell us now lady"
They don't call him Steve Citronella for nothin!
Ryan Callaghan is a beast. I'd honestly be shitting myself and this guy just goes "smell us now lady" xD What a madlad
Rinellla should be counting his lucky stars this man Callaghan was with him. Rinella wasnt even paying attention to her and wouldnt have been ready had that man not been there.
I think he was more lax since callaghan was with him as a guide. Remember this man is a hunter by trade
Ahahaha yeah the way Rinella handle that encounter made him look like a novice. He didn’t pay attention when the bear was coming. He didn’t have his rifle ready till the last moment. I’m no hunter but I do know bears are fast and have no mercy when they attack, especially a momma bear.
Yea he clearly wasn't paying attention. Dudes shot caused her to derail it seems. Had he not been on point ol Rinellla would been in a world of hurt had bear continued on that trajectory. Guide was chambered hella fast, & fired off while he was stumbling/fumbling around. Better buy that man a chicken dinner
He didn't see where the bear was coming from, Callaghan spotted that and was ready with gun to warn off bear. Rinella would have been charged from side initially if he was on his own. Also when the bear does change at 1.59 and Callaghan fires a shot, rinella looks completely panicked and I don't think he would have got a shot off. Not that I blame him I would be the same, but maybe that's a warning sign, putting yourself in this danger ain't worth it
@@frontleftfender Rinella tripped over his bag or something on the ground as he got his rifle ready and tried to get into a shooting stance. He should have been ready much earlier. if he had actually had to shoot he would have been on his ass and his shot would have been very inaccurate.
For those of you complaining. Steve Rinella is an extremely ethical hunter who also knows just about everything there is to know about conservation. I dont understand why people think its better to raise animals in sad captivity and then kill them young rather than find one that has been living wild. The wild one obviously had a better life and a bullet to the heart is a way better way to die than being eaten by a predator
@Nick F That is simply not true. The animals you mentioned spook just as easily as anything else when they catch your scent. Obviously if it has baby critters around then that's a different story.
@Nick F Then you don't know much about bears, mountain lions, etc., and hunting for sport is not a factor, that's unethical
Nick F 😂😂😂😂
Jason Mathison how many times are you going to copy and paste your bitch ass views? You’re a sad human.
@@philiproth5770 what about when a bear hunts a salmon? Is that bear not trespassing in that salmons territory? What about a mountain lion who stalks down a deer? Is it not "Trespassing"? We all share this Earth, there is no trespassing on an animals territory because it's just as much ours as it is theirs. Hunting is a natural part of life, it occurs everyday in nature, why is it only wrong for people to hunt?
I was arguing with some Australian folks just a little while ago that I would rather live amongst their snakes and spiders than in an area inhabited by grizzly bears like this. They seemed very confident that the bears were "not an issue if you knew the facts".

Best. Clip. Ever.
"Smell us now lady!" Love it lol
So glad a found your utube station.
I want people to rewatch just how fast that bear was going. Even with that guy's quick bolt work after the first shot, that bear would've been on him by the 3rd shot. And that's with them carefully watching the bear and a 2nd guy with a gun as well.
You always hear and read people brainstorming all the whats and hows when it comes to that almost mythical scenario of a brown bear barrelling towards you, but it's a lot different to actually see the things in motion.
This is why we ALWAYS carry a pistol
Is it more advisable then to have a high caliber handgun instead of a bolt action rifle in this sort of circumstance?
@@michaellarson3697 I’ve watched a ranger dispatch a 1400lb male with just 2 9mm. You don’t need something ridiculously oversized. We see a lot of people carrying large pistols they’re not likely to get a single shot on target with under such pressure 😂
