the real changes came when subs entered and Gio moved central. playing more direct allowed them to play into strengths of Pepi and Balogen. 70 minutes of watching them run down the sides and whip crosses to the middle was killing me. Pepi is a stud, him scoring with his family there was pretty cool and Brendan was actually pretty good today.
Pepi is a stud? Pepi is a crybaby
Agree completely. The attack runs so much better when Gio is the CAM. Musah and McKennie are a strong double pivot behind him.
Why do GG and Terzic insist on playing Gio out wide. He’s not speedy and clearly better suited centrally.
That’s Berhalter’s Team for you
Yeah he needs to be one pass away in the mid when you don't know if he's going r or l. Not one LONG pass (crossing/sweeping pass) away where the whole defense can see what he's doing from one side.
In the middle you don't know what he's going to do because even he's not exactly sure, ha.
But you'll find out in a minute.
; )
Can we talk about the quality of Balogun? That touch…
He has been out of form, but when he is on, he is special.
How are you people proud of barely beating a team from a country of 1.5 million people. That's a country the size of one average American city.
This is why the USA will never be great. You get an inflated ego from beating small teams, esp in concacaf. Then when you face a real team its a reality check.
80 minutes without a goal playing against 10 men for a long time is not great. And against Trinidad? Come on!
Low blocks be like that. Even teams like Arsenal, Man City, and Liverpool can struggle to get that first goal, but once the first goal goes in, usually the floodgates open when the defending team has to play out to try to salvage something.
US Soccer didn't spoil what happened (and when it happened) in the title, so why do you? Besides, I've seen a number of games where 11 men didn't score on 10 men for long periods. Instead of hating on USMNT, compliment T & T.
@@noahparsons7688 dude… that game was like two months ago. Here’s another spoiler. Argentina beat France in last year’s World Cup…
That last goal... We MIGHT be starting to cook, that was sublime technique, positioning and link up

@@FGN666Some teams loses games with one man advantage. Good teams take advantage of one man advantage by winning a soccer game even if they win by at least one goal. In 1990 world cup, Argentina (defending world champions at the time) lost to Cameroon despite having a one man advantage AND having the worlds best soccer player at the time (Maradona).

@@Trancymind please don’t spit facts so hard like that. You’re gonna make fgonzalez explode in rage rn 😂
Haters are always gonna hate I guess. The result is what mattered, which was my point the entire time. At least adjustments were made to achieve that. It’s not Trinidad were sloppy either. They intended to sit back and defend and hope for a counter attack or mistake to capitalize on, and then defended well for 80 minutes. A couple of good saves from their keeper too. I’m just saying I’m happy with the result. 🤷🏻♀️ I guess that offended someone lol.
He 100% wiped him out getting to the ball. How is that not a foul?
Everything changed when Ricardo Pepi entered. He deserves more minutes.
Ricardo Pepi? The same kid that didn’t do shit against the Netherlands in the World Cup? Smh 🤦♂️ USA were awful here, quite pitiful their performance, don’t let the score line fool you.

Great to see Reyna making a big impact again.
3 goals in 10 minutes !!! impressive
Pepi He's officially found his spot on this team. He is so much better off the bench. Quick energy almost always gets a goal. Whatever you do gb Don't mess this up unless there's injuries that force you to
I have no idea why but I actually called "3 late goals in a flurry". crazy how it actually happened that way.
Took us a while to even score, even being up 1 player.. Also McKennie def learned some good flops in Italy hahah
Having Greg as coach is essentially playing with 10 men
Pepe continues to get better, solid games from Westin, Dest, Reyna in bits. Tillman not near ready
Big question they should be asking is, why did it take till the 80th min to score a single goal against a team down a man?
It seems people forget this serves as Copa America Qualifying from our region
so many talented players in USA. i hope USA will do well in Copa America Centernario next year.

Gotta give credit to T&T they were so effective in the low block even with 10
Yeah, kept us to only being 3-0...
T&T and US arent that far apart in football. Lineups were fairly even tbh and the score up until the late minutes showed it.
Berhalter ball is fits well with a counter-attacking style, but when you're the attacker, it doesnt really work because the other team can just counter with a compact defensive position, that leaves for a dangerous position, and when you go into a tournament that has competent world class teams, they will punish you for using the wrong move, and having a lack of variety.
I hate Berhalter so much, but I hate arm chair USMNT fans more. It’s like you think you’re a coach or something because you think watching football makes you some kind of expert. I remember in the 80s wishing for a soccer community, but now I just hate and despise all of you.
Yes, the current roster is geared towards counter attacking and defending with numbers. The possession style that's more suitable to the Spain and Brazil type players isn't for us... they're good players, but there are levels to it. Pepi does need more minutes though.. he seems like a solid poacher/finisher
It's classic old English, mourinho conservative BS ball. I hate it. I'm an arsenal fan and we were the polar opposite last year. I don't mind ball control football, but all this wimpy ass strategy has me fuming. Get Greg out, he's a bum and has been for a while. It's embarrassing we won't move on
Not exactly true. The problem is that the movements are way too restricted in the final third. The players have said that Berhalter has a complicated way of coaching. You’re correct that perhaps the US should adopt a more direct approach. However, it’s more because of coaching than the idea.
That’s why Gio has to be in the middle. He brings an element of creativity to the attack that you need when a team is bunkered in.
I really wanted this team to score early especially with Balogun but they got the job done.
😂almost but still 🗑️
1 man advantage and still took 80 plus come on
700 passes - great. I am very proud of you guys for that. I was hoping for 1000 but whatever.

Reyna is our best player.
Pulisic?
Reyna, agreed.
In this game, maybe, overall probably not though, we were missing some key players in pulisic, weah, and adams
Pulisic by a mile.
Tim Ream is up there
I just came here for the Jedi double flip.
Once again. Berhalter is just not the right coach but can’t do anything about it
It shouldn't have taken 82 minutes for us to score versus a ranked 99 team with 10 players most of the game.
2023 and we can't get highlights in 1080p?
3rd goal was amazing
Robinson should try to go for the olimpic games as a gymnast.
Need Pepi to start. The defenders were top today. Love seen Vickers back
I agree I don't know if he's better then balogun but I think he's better right now. He is good for a goal every 30 mins he's plays
USA don’t create chances, Pepi fits better than Balogun cause he links up with his teammates to help create chances
thats why he's better as a supersub. balogun should start no question@@lucasmartin4834
Nah Pepi is good but he's nowhere near as talented as Balogun. And I also love CCV. He needs to be the cb paired with Richard's for the next WC.
Y’all realize pepi looks good because he can come in at full strength when everyone on the field is tired?
Yesssiiiiiir good US win.
Look I love Balogun, but in all seriousness it's time to give Pepi a start! He keeps on producing and scoring goals for the USMNT. Also Reyna was fantastic today need to continue to start him in the midfield

Does anyone know how the semi-finals will work? I can't find a bracket for the next round. Who will the US play if they get through? Seems like there is no information about it. The only thing I can find is when the final will be
Robinson is so damn good. Been watching him @ Fulham for awhile now.
Gio MUST play significant minutes in the next major tournament, along with Aaronson.
Agree
Gio needs to play in the middle for this team. You can figure out who's behind him, whether that's any 2 of Mckennie, Musah, or Adams, but Gio goes in the 10 spot. No one else can do what he's capable of.
That penalty review was VAR working to perfection. It looked like a clear penalty live but the review was clear.
Ricardo pepi should always get mad at berhalter for not taking him to Qatar. He was amazing.
I am loving the speed we are getting on the team. Still need that final striker. I think the bench players help tremendously. I still dont think that Berhalter is the right guy for the job. We play very well against teams we can counter easily. But the good European teams and good CONCACAF teams we struggle. I think we need a better attacking and speed mindset. We have the youth, we just need to put it to use. Got to find a pure striker. We have 300 million people, there has to be one somewhere.
Somehow now Robinson has a goal and 2 assists in the past 2 matches for club and country
I was there!
wow wow
0-0 before the sending off :/
Too bad you couldn't have gotten the win Trinidad & Tobago but you should not be disappointed as you kept it close for most of the match while being down a man, in an away match too.
😂😂
@@matthewthurman8970 What? What's so funny?
Whilst Trinidad has spirit, they lack skill and technique. Even though you are playing defense mainly, the objective should be to keep possession of the ball as much as possible so as to run down the clock. But they couldn't even string 3 food passes without losing the ball. Better coaching and individual player development needed. Best of luck on return match

It’s okay Trinidad! At least you’re not as bad as my country (Singapore)
Singapore is a TRUE first world country. It is better for your country to be prosperous than be good at one sport. Being good at sports is overrated than having a country well governed due to low corruption and low crime.

Remember how well we playd without GreGG
USA failed to qualify for the world cup before Gregg took over in 2019.
and he left Pepi off the the World Cup roster smh
Pepi should start to reach a new level of American soccer. See how well the kid play.
Berhalter had a game plan. He kept the team believing until the final minutes. The plan created opportunities. The match facts are USMNT had 76% possession with 90% pass accuracy, and we outshot them 26:1 with a final, justified score of 3-0.
Some people just want to complain for no reason. Compare the performance of the USMNT to Germany and Mexico from the past few days. I'll take a late W over a disappointing upset anyday.
Hey Greg see what happens when gio and pepi play ?!!

Living in Texas I was gonna go watch it live, then I think if it's gonna be couple to 0, we need to play better teams this isn't interesting anymore
This is to qualify for Copa America
So you missed us playing Germany and Ghana last transfer window?
Also, winning this aggregate against T&T will qualify us for next year's Copa America so we will face better teams at Copa America than we do in CONCACAF
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
How many times has Pepi saved us?
Imagine where we would have been in the world cup if Gio played
Worst performance I have seen in a long time. We have taken steps back
3-0 is the worst performance? I get it took awhile to get there but they still did
Sad it took 40 mins against 10 men to score… sad
Gregg Berhalter is ruining the national team game by game
All Pepi does is score, time after time he always makes the most of his minutes. Should be starting over Balogun.
Baffles me that Ricardo Pepi isn't the starting striker over Balogun when he's proven himself over and over and over again
It baffles me that idiots like you are over here complaining that a striker who plays in a lesser league isn’t getting the start. GreGG’s tactics do not benefit a striker like Balogun. He is not that kind of striker who goes up for headers. He is the best utilized when you have a number 10 feeding through balls to him. He likes to make runs behind that back line.
@@NITESHADOWshouske great, if his tactics don't fit with berrhalters style, why is he starting? It's not about the league they're in. Pepi shines in the national team and consistently gets goals. That's what should be honored
@@NITESHADOWshouskethis isn't a tactics thing this is a low block thing. Tough for any striker to succeed against a low block, let alone one like Balogun who isn't a target man.
@@hengineer This is a tactics thing. Go back and watch the game. Our boys kept passing the ball back-and-forth at the back, and tried to whip in crosses. There was no creativity, no passion, and our players looked lost. One thing the United States could’ve done was to allow Trinidad and Tobago have possession and hit them on the counter.
@@NITESHADOWshouskeI was at the game, US didn’t look lost and they had passion, they just lacked the final product until the 80th minute.
Is everybody on the team allergic to giving Balogun good passes?
He really had a bad game. I understand that Gregg had it wrong - but good players always have fleshes of brilliance and he had very few.

@@arktos6850it is true, US will not win WC, but Berhalter reached his limit. And USMNT did with him as a coach.
Not impressed with Tillman or Paredes. Poor decision making when it mattered and complete inability to finish properly on numerous occasions. They did not help our cause. Kudos to Carter-Vickers.
