- Freiberg is a town in Germany. It is also a great restaurant in Johnson City TN.
Not sure we have ever seen Sauerbraten on a menu, or Goulash. But these are meals we grew up on.
Check out this little gem with us!!!
Located at 203 E. Main St in Johnson City TN
Thank you for watching
Glad you liked Freibergs. I worked a couple of miles away for about 20 years and made sure i ate there a couple of times per month. The Schnitzel is great- either chicken or pork, the pan fried potatoes are really good. Also the Frikadello is great...German cheeseburger on a pretzel bun with muenster cheese, brown mustard, and pickles. A long term favorite. Good video.
@@MarkSewell-lg6tl Thank you for the comment and watching and the info. Will definitely try the cheeseburger next time, sounds amazing! ❤️
I love findiing out of the way restaurants while traveling. I always search for "where the locals eat" when I'm in a new city.
Thank you for the comment and watching. That's a lot of what we do. Restaurants and small businesses. Places that don't get noticed, or are missed. We used to vacation in East Tennessee for years, after moving here 2 years ago we found so much we had missed out on. Thank you again, sorry for the delayed response. Just saw your comment. ❤️
The potatoes you described sound like the way the Arehart side of my family made them. The Scherzer side made a warm salad with the tang of Apple cedar vinegar. They are both delicious. Was the cabbage made with apples?
I don't think they were made with apples, but could have. Next time we stop there I'll have to ask. Thank you for the comment!!! ❤️
My Mom makes her goulash with tomatoes, hamburg and elbow macaroni.
Thank you for sharing. That's how we always made it in my family too. ❤️
Hello from Germany, my hometown is Mainz/Rhine..
I just found you on youtube and enjoied your video..😊
@@eggiA. Thank you! Both Lee and I have some German ancestry. Not sure from what area. ❤️
I guess they don't have sure names like Arehart, Scherzer and Piffier. The best German restaurat in Ky closed. However, I've never been to the ones near Cincinnati which has a large German heritage population. I'm looking for one closer to my home in Louisville. Oh, btw, sounds like your mom's goulash is the school cafeteria version.
So Lee doesn't like the beer
Neither of us drink much. Lee does like Guinness, but prefers hard liquor to beer. Thank you for the question! ❤️
