This video has inspired me to play guitar again! Any pre-86 TSOM song lessons you put together would be rad!!

Great lesson, thanks! Subscribed. I saw them loads in tiny clubs in Birmingham UK in the early days, when all you could see was dry ice and the occasional reflection of mirror sunglasses 😎 They used to do great live versions of Emma by Hot Chocolate and Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme too...

Thanks for this, u got it down perfectly. On a side note the melody sounds a little like paint it black, almost like a sitar like sound.

So cool! Thank you! And what about the guitar pedal effect for this song? Which one was Wayne Hussey using?

This probably won't be as helpful as you'd like but it sounds like chorus to me - what model/what amp i don't know. From what I can find on CZcams, it was/is sometimes played live with a 12 string, which brings its own shimmer to the sound, sometimes with a lot of distortion/fuzz too, but the recording at best has just a little dirt to my ears.
While I'm sure Wayne Hussey must have played this song live, I don't see him credited with any recording of Alice.
Here's some research I did when I first posted this:
Gary Marx and Ben Gunn were the guitar players at the time of the original version’s recording - both received credits in the liner notes for Alice. Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything definitive as to who played what on the recording.
The Sisters of Mercy re-recorded Alice for the Under the Gun single. Adam Pearson is credited as the guitar player.
