    Quinn & Haystacks an awesome tag combination in the U.K late 1970s early 80s.Wrestled each other a hand full of times in Europe, Britain & Ireland. John Quinn was easily one of the greatest heels ever to wrestle in the U.K! Up there with Kendo Nagasaki for me.

    I was at a local farm auction one day as a kid, and in the cattle barn I was surprised to see John standing there. Later I found out he was raised on the farm across the road in Onondaga Township in southern Ontario. He was first cousin to Pat Quinn the hockey player. Condolences to his family. Sorry to hear he just passed away.

    Lenient ref, dare say that Kent Walton was commentating at the ringside - “have a good week, till next week”.

    That was impressive to tip Haystacks out from the ring! And the crowd went wild! This proves once again that wrestling without super heavyweights is but a shadow of what it could be!

    I wonder how many wrestlers have managed to lift Haystacks outta the ring? So far I've only counted 2 - Quinn and Big Daddy.

    Yes it was Mick McMichael as ref, he was a regular in Germany & Austria, unusual to see him wearing the kilt as he originated from Doncaster.

    Quinn was a big powerful bloke. Why didn't more wrestlers cross the Atlantic ? Did wrestling receive much coverage in the tabloids ?

    Just thinking if when they where to fight back in uk, win or lose Haystacks would have had more credit if he actualy fought Quinn any thing like this, Instead they both chose to share prize money and public felt ripped off.Dont know if was scripted ? but thought was not good credibility for him at all.Still used to enjoy those days on tv, And Quinn played the villain well winding up the crowd.

      Yes. I've got a handbill on my wall from De Montfort Hall, Leicester dated Wed Sept 19, 1973 and Nagasaki vs Wall is on the bill (also on the bill Mick McManus vs Johnny Kwango, Kevin Conneely vs Bobby Baron and a Tag Match between The Royal Brothers and The La Paque Brothers.)

    Quinn had short hair, so there was no reason for Mick McMichael to check to see if Haystacks was pulling it! RIDICULOUS!!

  • @mda1218
    @mda1218 Před 10 lety +3

    Quinn busted that huge gut at 12:15 while Haystacks looked him in the eye and sucked wind... then rode it and worked Haystacks over like mule… too bad he had to throw the fight to the lesser man at the end

    RIP John Quinn, legend.
    No way Haystacks is 6ft 11 ! John Quinn's fake height is 6ft 5. And Haystacks is barely taller than him.

  • @thirtyfoursevenzero
    @thirtyfoursevenzero Před rokem

    This more or less proves that Martin was NOT 6' 11". He seems to be about the same height as tosser Quinn who was billed as 6' 5" which is entirely possible when compared to the footage of the time when Quinn got his arse well and truly kicked by "Big Daddy" Shirley Crabtree who was 6' 3"

      Haystacks not at his tallest here. In his younger days he walked within a yard of me and I was shocked by how big he was.
      6,7 6,8 i reckon but his weight pulled him down in later years.
