Rogue Wave Hits Ship in Storm Force 12 ! Massive !

- Ouessant, at the tip of Brittany. The Bee Flanders, one of the most powerful tugboats in the world, capable of towing a tanker of 550,000 tons in load. If it had been there, if it had been chartered as it is today for a public service mission, the Amoco would never have sullied 200 kilometers of coast.
By force 10 to 12, and beyond, one discovers here the craft of these men who persist in repeating that they are not heroes. It is discovered that on 4 January 98 a crazy oil tanker nearly collapsed on the Ouessant rocks and then on those at Portsall. There is a trailer catch, amid the sailors, on the aft deck of the boat.
And the sea really disassembled.

It really annoys me that I can't find a single vid of real rogue wave footage due to clickbaiters ruining everything.
Hey Thomes S,
Whilst scientists finally admit that Rogue waves exist, it would be near impossible and most likely a fatal encounter to photograph one.
The f a ct that they're Rogue means that they are unpredictable and rarely appear.
I too want to see one.
@@FrostedSeagull search for 1995 draupner monster wave
@@FrostedSeagull Scientists recently found out, that they are not as rare as we think. Satellite Photos prove that. I guess If you ship the ocean below the south-african coast or another rogue wave hotspot for a few weeks, you will most likely encounter one.
Thomes Maisling these videos aren’t click bait. A rogue wave has to be twice as high as the surrounding waves so a rogue wave can be small.
@@Its-Av3rage Except that these aren't rogue waves.
Rogue waves are really hard to catch on camera, because they might sink the ship and the footage would be gone.
they are hard to catch because they are extremely rare, they have caught them on sensor data many times using special buoys they have set up in the open ocean, to catch one on camera could take years or decades or extreme luck
No if there's a cameraman everything will be ok for him at least
It appears nobody knows what a true rogue wave is. A rogue wave can be any height. It's just a wave that is at least double the height of the average wave size in the area. Therefore it's possible to have a 10ft rogue wave.
rogue waves are just the result of two waves of the same frequency(width, depth and height) meet and combine to create one wave of double the size of the two original, and in rare situations this can happen multiple times creating monster waves in a relatively calm ocean, they are waves after all and act just like any other wave be it sound or light.
Wait isn't a rogue wave just a huge wave going in a different direction from the others hence the rogue in the name?
@@canadianbro2052 no, not at all
@@King_Flippy_Nips one possible formation but there are other methods that cause them
Rogue waves can reach heights of 60 ft, and more.
What we're witnessing here are waves during a Beaufort 12. The highest rating on the Wave Scale. Essentially it's high winds and waves with large wakes. Several 12s have claimed a few ships.

Just curious!
What ocean were you travelling in ?..
The french commentary transforms these sailors into heroes … which is precisely what they dislike the most.

Appreciate what you do. Good job.
Clickbait.
Most of these kinda videos are clickbait. Worlds biggest truck, biggest truck in the world. Turns out to be a dump truck. A reg sized dump truck. You catch my drift.
Yes clickbait. However this is a good documentary about one of the most pwerful rescue ship in the world.

4th January 1998 I remember very well. I was at Portland Bill, England. The lighthouse was resonating with the wind, emitting a loud drone. The air was as if in mist, but this was wind driven seawater, diffusing the sunlight. The peak gust was 107mph at Portland that day, where it was a force 12 for an hour at least.
Didn't see rogue waves but heavy, scary seas. Still harrowing.
And to think, ships from hundreds of years ago and even some thousands of years ago have been hit by waves like this. Their boats we're wooden and had far less robust materials that broke apart when only one small thing failed like a bolt or peg
If we are in the middle of the sea, we can't help but fight
Magnifiquement filmer , un commentaire littéraire remarquable accompagné par les chants et une équipe d'hommes humbles et soudés face à immensité du danger. Merci pour ce précieux moment partagé.

I read "Heavy Weather Sailing" by K. Adlard Coles years ago and was gobsmacked
by stuff from a French sailor (was his last name Tessier?) who sailed a yacht from
beneath a cupola protection . There was a photo of a wave breaking over the top of
a breaking wave with a caption that begged the question about surviving such things.
Wouldn't that qualify as a freak (rogue) wave?

One of my high school surfing buddies went to Cabo on a big boat with his father and older brother going with a bunch of family friends of theirs. they returned ahead of plans to avoid a hurricane. A single mayday was heard. No one was found. a few small pieces of the boat were found.
Sad
My Navy ship got hit by a rogue wave and it was violent. The guys on the Bridge said it was close to a 52 degree roll our ship did. For my class of ships which was an FF it was the magic number of 52 that would tip the ship on it's side.
Everything sounds better in French. Beautiful voice. Terrifying waves.
Great,video so,beautiful, so,breathtaking, very,peaceful. Thank,you, stay safe, thank,you 😍😎🤩🙄😁
As the closeness of the land doesn`t detract the least from the storm`s ferocity (looking at the dangerous proximity of the cliffs, the opposite seems more likely), the ship`s captain shouldn`t even think of entering a port.
And on top of all that, he puts up a video in French, without English subtitles. English is now spoken by about 1.75 billion people - a quarter of the world's population. This includes first and second language speakers. One way English grows is by admitting new words and senses not just from other English varieties but from virtually all languages of the world. Compared to my English language, Hardly anyone speaks French. World Population Review report shows that about 76 million people are native French speakers, with 274 million speaking French fluently.
I couldn’t agree more with you my friend!!!
Yes, if I were a ship captain. My first port of call is blasting meditation music during Beaufort 12s, then navigate. Don't talk to me, don't even look at me. Or I will lose my nerve and run into a corner and curl into foetal position and accept my fate trapped for eternity in Davy's Locker.
This is like watching French soccer injuries. Grossly exaggerated.
Brave operators indeed.
In the year 3000 people will still be trying to locate the rogue wave in this video, like I regretfully did today.
It really nobody can say no more than you can tell them that
This is clickbait, it is a French documentary about the Abeille a well known rescuer boat. Awesome documentary though

I'm guessing 4:25. That 1 was larger and more impressive then the others.
if you have to ask.....
\
Yeh id say the breaking 50+ footer 4mins 27s, but i guess they never look as big on tv as in real life...
yeah around then. rogue wave tend to collapse very quickly
Rouge waves hit in calm seas. this is a video of heavy seas.
They absolutely dont. They are infact more likely to occur in rough weather since there is more energy transfer to make a rouge wave.
Correction: they can occur in calm seas, but are more likely in rough seas.
They get 10x bigger than that. At night could be washed off the deck or capsize in moments with no warning.
Reading this gave me a nosebleed.
Another video that's supposed to show a rogue wave but doesn't - rogue waves are 20-30 meters high & there were no waves that big in this video
Actually rogue waves can be under 10 to classify as rouge they need to be more than twice the height of the average wave at the time
@@Lscott-fk2sn to classify as 'rouge' they need to be wearing lipstick

Great footage
Parametric resonance effect, what is the cause ?
No mention of a rogue wave by the voice over
Luckily this boat was large enough with massive ballasts to distribute the weight. Any smaller ship than this during these rough waters would be disastrous.
BRACE!

Rogue waves are much larger than that. If those were rogue waves, this footage wouldn't exist since the ship and all hands would be lost.
Well that makes sense. Was a rogue wave responsible for the shipwreck of the SS Minnow? Do you know what the survivors said?
