- Máxima is wearing the seablue diamond of almost 40 carats, which is known as the Stuart diamond. It came in posession of king William III (Prince of Orange) and queen Mary II Stuart after their joint coronation.

That is a lovely gesture by Queen Maxima. A surprise of the first order.
It is my understanding that this was special as it was the first time the tiara has been worn in its complete design in many years...maybe not since Queen Juliana wore it. It takes a big lady to pull it off well and Maxima was just the one to do it. I was also glad to see that Queen Elizabeth threw on the Cullinan 3 and 4.
Those are the third and forth largest diamonds cut from the Cullinan 1 or the Great Star Of Africa (530.4 carats...the largest clear cut diamond in the world) It is part of the British Crown Jewels as is # 2. #3( 94.4 carats) and #4 ( 63.6 carats) were cut from the same original diamond and are privately owned by Queen Elizabeth II .
I didn’t even know about queen maxima. I googled her and clicked on images, she is the coolest dresser. I love her clothes and her hair pieces she wears. Plus she is so gorgeous.

What a fantastic occasion, and welcome to the King and Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Maxima looks absolutely stunning.
Note the Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) loitering near the Queen. They guard the Crown Jewels (a few of which are being worn by various people), and "have a care" for the safety of Her Majesty.

This was the State Banquet for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, of the Netherlands. As an indigenous Brit (Anglo-Scot), and despite my reservations about 'monarchies', this clip makes me feel very proud that all of this comes along with my ancestral homeland, the British Isles. Until our Political Class grows up, becomes more competent (instead of being incompetent) I would prefer that Elizabeth of Hanover-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Windsor occupied the Throne of the United Kingdom, in the House of Lords.

She has many “rules” she follows and some of these make it to the meals her guests eat at the dinner. For example, the Queen does not eat garlic so these meals would not include it.
