The Romance is beautiful. Worthy to be it's own work that could be taken into the violin repertoire
Wonderful ballet music with excitement, charm, and theatricality! Glad to hear this suite with some of the highlights.
I am an absolute sucker for the oriental moments here! The ballet as a whole is a delight but this suite is suitably colourful, showing Gliere's skills as orchestrator.
Thank you so much for sharing this!!
It is a pity that the ballet The red Poppy is not danced on the main Ballet Companies, even in Russia.
Good music, but as with all things soviet, not tsar quality.
I’m another sucker. You gotta hand it to Glière, he wrote some everlasting stuff in The Red Poppy. And I thank Naxos for putting together this recording and you for posting this excerpt.

@@annikaurry6635 Glad to be of use. All the best in the show!
I LOVE the Violin solo at 7:33 and 13:34! I wish this piece has the violin solo THROUGHOUT!!! But that movement at 13:34 can ALMOST sound like a "Violin Concerto".
Arianna Cunningham , or that selection could be a work of its own.
... loveley music; it seems: Gliere and the Bolschoi-team saved Russian ballet-dancing from the verdict of the political idiologists (=anti-bourgoise"socialist Realism"); it was a very great success for many years ... It would be nice to see the whole "proletarian lovestory" in a -movie-posting ...
