Not everybody carries a tow bar. They take too much room. Tow straps are unreliable and may be illegal in your area. The best thing to do is to use a chain passed through a long pipe and hook it to the frame. Use the T-slots if possible. That's the reinforced oval holes in the frame. Usually covered with a rubber plug.

Never had a strap break but I have had three brand new chains brake with a $500,000 car on it. My truck I could use chain or straps in fact, on some cars, the GTO being one of them 05, 06, if you put chains on that car you were going to be paying for the struts to be replaced. I had an 11 car parking lot and never had any damage because of toe straps chains. Should be always pulling a shape or v-shape and as far as the hooks go on the chains the s- hook the j-hook T-hook can break or damage the tie down hole I've seen it but you put that R- hook on there no damage to the tie down holes and the R-hook ain't going to break. The chain may break but that R-hook ain't going to.

The three brand new chains that broke while I was carrying that car on the top rear deck. The only reason why they broke was the fact that the welds were to weld the chains together. The welds wasn't complete It didn't go all the way through. There was only welded with like a 1/8 of an inch and the rest of it was left untouched by the welder. Trust me, have you ever go down to interstate and you see a car carrier that doesn't have his cars chained down? You don't want to be behind him. Those cars will and can come off.
