Woah so many malay food stalls and it looks great as well!! Also looks like a good place to bring my Muslim friend when he comes over to sg.
Piggypuggy, you really got the right place for classic Malay food. This place sells the authentic Muslim food that I always go for my favorite food, lemak nangka. 2 months ago I was there for my Sinar Pagi nasi padang and the chee kong desserts. The kuehs and goreng pisangs are super sedap. Look like I will go again next week to mingle during Ramadan month so as not to miss the special dishes cook for this period. Thank you for sharing keep up!

Nasi Padang is best eaten in Tabao form, and must b those brown wrapping paper, with banana leaf will b bonus. Few yrs back, a colleage tabao there for us, I ate until nearly swallowed my tongue. Asked which stall, replied any stalls that hv long queue. So power.

@@Piggypuggy Never eaten such gd Nasi Padang, all the gravies & chilli blajiang soaked with the rice is so lemak. Other areas tabao Nasi Padang are gd enough, but these Gelang Serai stalls are of different league. c",)
The one near Arab street there have.. but I just checked out the one near Geylang Serai. Wah. Lao nua. Price seems reasonable too

Wow! (Overheard) $19 for a plate white rice with two mains (beef rendang & quail eggs) and one side (sambal goreng) from Sinar Pagi is rather expensive! But got lots of gravy 😬

Haven't been there for a long while. Sinar pagi is certainly good, unfortunately queue is long and price is a premium. I generally head over to Joo Chiat Hjh Maimunah for my nasi padang.
But those plastic fork and spoons are a big turn off. You can't really tear apart a chicken with them. Anyway doesn't seems crowded. Maybe time to pay a visit.

Went to buy some dishes there for lunch for 3. Ayam bakar, oxtail, Brinjal and jackfruit. Came to $27. My maid totally loved the oxtail, so all is good. The ayam bakar wasn't as great as I was hoping for. Still a nice lunch.

Anyone has the same question as me on why is Malay food more expensive than Chinese food, comparing similar dish in Chinese economic rice and the Malay rice? Is it because spices r expensive, longer time to cook or fewer Malay population than Chinese?
