Believe it or not, I found them at a flea market in Cleveland. Hardest part was finding a 16mm projector to watch them on. Once I knew what I had, I sent them off and had them digitized.
Have you contacted the Experimental Aircraft Association ? I don't thing I've ever seen so much footage of Steve Wittman's race plane " Bonzo" before and they might like to know what you have . Steve Wittman has always be a sort of hero of mine and his sort of underdog story in plane racing . We even share a birthday! I wrote a screenplay on this subject called "Will Smutt, Lord of the Wing" based very very loosely on Wittman's story (Wills plane was more like Art Chester's "Jeep". ) I showed it around to folks who know screenplays and they said " For god's sake change the title , take some writing screenplay courses, and put in a love interested somewhere." I still had fun writing it . Thanks for these posts and please keep posting !
Fascinating.
I've gotten a kick out of these posts! Thanks ! Where did you get these films ?
