Back when I was in high school I used to work cleaning pools and there was this Vietnamese lady who I had a really hard time understanding. When Moon said my English is limited reminded me of her. Turned out the lady actually spoke perfect Spanish her husband was Latino. One day she was explaining something to me and she was getting quite frustrated that I couldn't understand her and all of a sudden out of frustration she started saying things in Spanish. From then on I would only communicate with her in Spanish never had a problem again.
