  • Build guide for a low intensity Elementalist build that stays solely on Water Attunement.
Disclaimer: This is NOT the greatest Elementalist build in the game, however it does serve as an alternative for those of us struggling to grasp the Elementalists complex attunement rotations.

condition damage does not affect conditions like chill and vulnerability. chill and vulnerability don't inherently do any damage on their own, and they are affected by "expertise"(because they are duration conditions).

I actually missed that. Thank you for correcting me.

I love all things water so I've been working on a DPS (WATER) not ice build by using sword warhorn Catalyst with earth secondary spec so that I could stack auras with signets(To spawn auras) to get as high damage as possible while in Water attunement(Elemental empowerment and Empowering Auras). Sword and warhorn combo is the only solely water weapon combo with no ice and the knock back from Warhorns wave helps stack Elemental empowerment. I know its not as good as swapping to atleast one other spec but for that I would just play tempest spec focusing water and air. Oh I also take all the water DPS talents like bonus damage while at high hp, bonus damage while the enemy has vulnerability on it, etc.

I am interested in knowing more about your build idea, such as talent skills, armor specs, runes/sigils and relics ect if you'd be willing to share.

This is my favorite one yet of the series. If you were to bring this to open world groups, what set and runes would you use instead?

For open world play, I would probably stick to what was shown here, (Marauder gear with Orge Runes) mostly for the more dps they offer
However, you could perhaps switch the gear to Vigilant (Power Toughness Concentration and Expertise) with Tempest Runes to give you more survivability as well as more durations for your Chills and Vulnerability conditions which would help in more open world group areas like World Bosses and Meta events.
If you want to be in the more supportive/healing role, then perhaps Harrier gear (Power, Healing Power, and Concentration) with Water or Monk Runes

Hihi! Does this build still work? I mainly play open world as dps and would like to try this :)

Technically all builds still work, however, I have used this in the new SotO expansion and I had a really hard time using it. I am unsure if it's because of some of the changes made to specs or if it's just not compatible with the new areas, or it could simply be my bad gameplay.
Short answer: it is fun, just not in the new maps so I would recommend you at least try it out first in the older map zones, like Core or PoF and see how it feels. You could always change it up to suit your style.
