"But now I'm curious... I've switched the TV off and now I want to see how it operates, how it can put me into all those weird situations... so it's about time. See, this is what it looks like. Look at this, this looks like a city, like a little model of a city" - yup, this is pretty much exactly how I expected Björk to describe how a TV works.
*You shouldn't let poets lie to you* // Give Bjork a simple TV and she will make something between an electrical engineer's wet dream and art :) The full text of her description of how a TV works here www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2013/11/bjork-explaining-television-is-everything-youd-imagine-bjork-explaning-television-to-be/281589/
Brilliant to see this again. First saw it in the early 90s, and after that, any opportunity in my workplace for one of us (among the SugarCubes fans there) to say, "Eeet's like a Leeettle Ceeety!" was taken with glee =O)
Watching a normal person take apart a TV is like watching children playing with plastic bags. Traditional tube TV's like this consume power when they are turned off, to keep the tube warm so that it doesn't take a long time for the image to appear. She could get shocked.
Love this woman! Her face is almost elfin in beauty, and her voice is raspy and sure. Nothing but strength, vision, and divine felinity all rolled up into an amazing package.
CRAP! Four years of electronics school and $35,000 wasted!! If only I had known - I could have just watched this video. Oh well, you live and you learn.
Her creativity is a symbol of the creativity of every human being that has made the earth a more beautiful place, and her curiosity is a symbol of the curiosity of every human being that has made our society the technological marvel that it is today. She may be unusual, but that's not a worthy reason to disparage her; every single person that has changed the world has been unusual for doing so, and to those who disparage her: congratulations, you are as 'usual' as they come. You must be proud
this is a wonderful video. people laugh at it and poke fun but it's actually serious and well thought out. bjork is quite brilliant and charming as well :o)
No, for several reasons. English is not her first language, so she speaks with an accent. Also, Bjork is synonymous with weird in a very good and cute way.
Honestly, just from how she articulates her speech and shows her curiosity/fascination with the television set, you can tell she’s incredibly intelligent. That makes this video even more lovely and tingly to watch. Wish she did 30 minute segments talking about what piques her mind. That would be lovely.
This is amazing. It's like literally peeking into the mind of a poet/genius. I can see how she writes her songs ... it's so cool! I mean, it's hard to explain, but I feel I can see how her mind works. (It's a beautiful mind, too ... sort of the poet = madness concept).
Bjork is gorgeous. What's different is beautiful. More people need to understand that. I wish people would stop wanting to look the same and be individuals.
I would love to be under the blankets with her listening to her speak...i would fall asleep everynight like a baby before i even had a chance to sleep with her
Bjork is a genius. Who can take a simple perspective of something we all take advantage of? Anyone else explains a tv and they will get engulfed by the media thrown around it and describe nothing as objetive as that. Pure Genius!
That is true, she almost was shocked by electricity, you can see her almost touching the part you CANNOT EVER TOUCH when opening TV box. It's got very high voltage to speed up electrons. A friend of mine was shocked after TV was kept in basement unplugged for 3 months.
WTF CZcams?! You link me to a video of Charles Manson?! Here I am watching one of the most enchanting and innocent girls on Earth speak about the inner machinations of television in a sweet and funny way and you recommend a video of the most vile and vicious people on Earth? WTF.
An Icelandic wood elf explains how a magical picture box works.
shes a pixie

her voice is so soothing
she is the most adorable creature.
This majestic pixie journeyed out from her icy forest to inspire and warn us. Bless you, you magical being.
"You shouldn't let the poets lie to you." ahahha
I forgot how beautiful Bjork is.
Was
My first ASMR experience! I remember when this video was uploaded.. Dope
She's spectacular!
Saving it for later... thanks, La Laura!
i think this just gave me asmr.....
Moral of the story. Never let a poet fix a TV set.
"You shouldn't trust a poet"
She's almost childlike in her way of thinking. Charming and endearing.
this is way too relaxing, its perfect for insomnia seriously
Ah, the 1990s. A decade of contrasts. We had Bjork, and the music was great, but televisions were massive.
summarizing the mechanisms of cathode ray tubes and the idea of mean world syndrome in 3 minutes and 32 seconds ... bless you Bjork

This is classic Björk! :)
Iceland: the land where poetry majors can have successful careers in electronics and communication technologies.
She is a gem! Delightful explanation. Those Danes clearly know a thing or 2 about tele!

I remember watching this a long time ago like 10 years at least lol.
"When I read a book, I stopped being afraid."
Knowledge is power :)
Excellent Audio Work. I never want to hear a camera guy complain about my boom in their shot again
I could listen to her talk all day.
I've always liked björk, but think I may have just fallen in love with her. What a wonderful, simple and surprisingly moving piece. Wow!

She's so precious.
She has such a beautiful spirit.
she is so adorable!
Utterly charming.
Thank God! I can finally start getting past my fear of the TV box and the moving pictures. Thank you Bjork, you have set us all free.
At least she took apart the best picture tube TV ever produced.
lol she said gay
Its original meaning was happy
The modern usage isn't a word but actually a acronym
@@memoriblewerd lol she said gay
adorable.
she's immaculately gorgeous.
bjork's craziness is part of what makes her hot
i watched this over and over again, i think its not televisions that hypnotize you, its björk !!!
I love her enthusiasm.
You can tell from her hair that she got shocked during the first attempt at this video.
Nothing but love for you bjork!
This is amazing. It's like literally peeking into the mind of a poet/genius. I can see how she writes her songs ... it's so cool! I mean, it's hard to explain, but I feel I can see how her mind works. (It's a beautiful mind, too ... sort of the poet = madness concept).
bjork is unbeatable

She is so fantastically inquisitive. I think I love her.
Very cute. I love her.
dis louks like a citty.... like a little model of a citty...
gives me goose bumps!!! so cute!
I don't even know who bjork is, but I love her accent
That cathode ray tube has a capacitor that can hold more than a kilovolt, even after the tv is turned off. I'm really really glad she didn't touch it.
She almost launched herself across the room jamming her fingers at the tube like that 😯
she is ridiculously adorable
Oh my god why can't I stop watching this!?
oh.. so that's how a tv works.. thanks bjork..
Does anybody know the name of the danish book on television that she read this morning that has the scientifical truth?
It is irony. Iceland was rules by Denmark before (and I know they didnt like it). Got it? :)
Inge Moen oooooh. did not get that. Thanks!
Que espécimen humano mas divino!
she is so beautiful!
Bjork is gorgeous. What's different is beautiful. More people need to understand that. I wish people would stop wanting to look the same and be individuals.
Bjork is beautiful like an angel
Wow she's quite beautiful, and she seems so childishly happy.
This Bjork needs to talk some sense into the one from 2006 worried about small molecules on airplanes.
I've got creep from this video. And also can't stop watching 'cuz it's too pleasantly
i love her..! tooo much..!
its a shame you can't see the charm of this video.
hahaha 'you shouldn't let poets lie to you.' she's adorable.
This is why I'm completely in love with Bjork. She's amazing.
"you shouldn't let poets lie to you"
She's so cute
Haha, Bjork is adorable.
Some days, watching this video is the only way i can relax.
she's SOOO cute.
Television is our friend.
And mighty Thor lives right here in the flyback transformer...
ich hab nichts verstanden aber trotzdem geliket, die ist süß, die Björk!
shes beautiful
Bjork is pretty neato. I read that in a danish book, this morning.
Just too cute! ^ ^
I would love to be under the blankets with her listening to her speak...i would fall asleep everynight like a baby before i even had a chance to sleep with her

Pure Genius!
Ahhh THAT'S why she was inspired to write the 'Reboot' cartoon series.
Makes sense now.
She has the cutest accent I've ever heard.
I wish there was also a video of Bjork explaining microwaves.
1982 called, wants its watch back.
Careful around the flyback Bjork
But what would it sound like slamming against those rocks?
fluffy and when it lands will the TV be on or off?
2 watches... one on each wrist ... adorable :)
That is true, she almost was shocked by electricity, you can see her almost touching the part you CANNOT EVER TOUCH when opening TV box. It's got very high voltage to speed up electrons. A friend of mine was shocked after TV was kept in basement unplugged for 3 months.
Everything is music!
holy shite... it's still plugged in at the wall! :O
People from Iceland are immune to electrical energy.
Cue: "The more you know!" shooting star and music.
Hey sound guy, your boom is in the shot.
"you shouldn't let poets lie to you"
she's so cute
I would love when Bjork explains me the washing machine.
I wish I could give you another thumbs up.
She's got me HYPMOTIZED!
Yeah, it's been said before, but it's worth repeating. You can die from electric shock taking apart a television, even if it is unplugged. So don't.
WTF CZcams?! You link me to a video of Charles Manson?! Here I am watching one of the most enchanting and innocent girls on Earth speak about the inner machinations of television in a sweet and funny way and you recommend a video of the most vile and vicious people on Earth? WTF.
