Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Black Betty had a child (Bam-ba-Lam)
The damn thing gone wild (Bam-ba-Lam)
She said, "I'm worryin' outta mind" (Bam-ba-Lam)
The damn thing gone blind (Bam-ba-Lam)
I said "Oh, Black Betty" (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Oh, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
She really gets me high (Bam-ba-Lam)
You know that's no lie (Bam-ba-Lam)
She's so rock steady (Bam-ba-Lam)
And she's always ready (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
She's from Birmingham (Bam-ba-Lam)
Way down in Alabam' (Bam-ba-Lam)
Well, she's shakin' that thing (Bam-ba-Lam)
Boy, she makes me sing (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Whoa, Black Betty

Literally tunes out the world and numbs all pain. Side effects are nostalgia, and passionate rage to play air guitar.
Most definitely said Hannibal ! Also profound !!!!

It annoys the piss out of me that radio stations will always cut out the part of 1:59-3:16 and yet they will play the 15 choruses at the end of 'Hey Jude' and other long songs. What the hell?? ALWAYS!!
guibox3 Totally agree.
The station I was listening to when this came out didn't play it, so I only heard it on American Top 40, which of course played the abbreviated version. It always seemed to me that the song never really got started. Years later, I have SiriusXM and finally heard the full version (on either Classic Rewind or Classic Vinyl) and finally it made sense. Never understood the radio edit, the full song isn't that long, and 4 minute-ish songs were being played all the time by then.
That’s the single edit. It was released on 45 and promo 12” with a running time of 2:32.
Instrumentals are great. Radio stations don’t know what they’re missing.

Castle Rock from Rayman Legends
Back in the early 80's when I was in high school a local guy several years older than me and my running buddies had a black 1965 Mustang coupe with Old Black Betty painted across the edge of the deck lid where the lock and Mustang letters were. The car had a built 289 with a dual quad set-up best I can remember,4-speed and I think it had 3.90 or 4.11 gears under it. He had aluminum slotted E-T wheels with skinny black walls on front and Mickey Thompson N-50's on the rear. Stan was a pretty cool guy. He'd give us a cold beer or two if we helped him clean and polish the car for weekend cruising. He died several years ago in his mid-50 of a heart attack. It shocked us all. He didn't look like he had a health problem in the world. His son (and only child) has Black Betty now. He brings it out a few times a year to shows and what not but he's adamant it'll never be for sale. R.I.P Stan.
Uhhhh that's nice I guess.......
damn I wish I had a friend like stan.
Ne'er did I think a story about a car could be so entertaining.
There's a big performance difference between 3.90 and 4.11 gears especially in a 289 buddy. You'd be able to tell
+Brad Moore you sir are a troll!
Yet another song to encourage someone to go 90 on a highway, lol. I love it, it was about time I revisited this gem of a song.
90 aint fast tho..
Pierre-O D-Poulin To someone who usually obeys the speed limit, hell yes it is. Not to someone who participates in night races. That's a cruise speed to them.
+Dudley Morris 90 mph or Kmh?
Gabriele Orioli 90 mph of course. In Kmh it would be so much more than just 90.
That feeling when you live in germany and there ain't no speed limits on our highways. Autobahn for life.

Michael Glickman the dude was my music teacher in elementary school
I always Wondered who the bass player was. has anyone noticed that in the oficial video where they are playing in the backyard of a house, they don't play the solo part? Where the wild, Speedy bass part goes. Does any one knows why? DId they hired a different bassist to tape the song that's on the actual récord? the band's bass player can't play it ay all? Too fast for him.
Thanks

Just heard this for the 1st time and my got. The instrumental is 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
the whole song is like a bar fight, indeed
0:01 - brawl start - one guy insult another one, they start shouting at each other, then a fist fight.
1:32 - brawl intensify, more guys enter the fight, the place turns into mayhem and chaos
1:59 - now everybody is fighting everybody else, guys are flying all over the place, landing on tables, crushing them, with pints and billard balls flying in every corner
I swear to God this better be in a movie

Ram Jam fulfilled a dream of mine. I always hoped that one day a band like this would just show up unannounced someplace I was and play.
It was the spring of 1980 at the university of Marathon county in Wausau Wisconsin (a small two year extension college of around 900 students.
The local band that was playing and announced they were going to have some friends of theirs fill in while they took a long break. Then Ram Jam took the stage. They said they were traveling through town and just had a hankering to play. They played for an hour or so. It was just so awesome.
