- Have you ever wondered why you should visit Towyn, in North Wales? Have you ever wondered why you should visit Rhyl in North Wales?
If so, then chances are, you haven't been to either of them.
For many years, Rhyl has been a family favourite resort in North Wales, but more recently, many people have been favouring Rhyl's close neighbour, Towyn.
Even though we live in North Wales and have been to Rhyl hundreds of times since being a small child back in the 80's, but Towyn is a place that we've hardly explored. So we decided to head over to Towyn to see what all the fuss was about, and to make the day even more fun, we decided to do this ultimate guide and comparison between Rhyl and Towyn, and show all of the best things there are to do.
In this Rhyl and Towyn, North Wales vlog, we compare everything from parking costs, the funfair, the beach, the amusement arcades, things to do in the town and much more.
But who will win? Will it be the newly discovered Towyn, or the old favourite, Rhyl?

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. Theres a lot more to Towyn that Tir Prince? Knightlys Fair, over on the beach side of the train tracks, Sandbank road
the Morton, Long Bar, Sandy Cove, are all great venues with live music, all thru the season

I suggest you send your video tot the city councils. Maybe send to the local tourist office, you'll be doing them a favour. I'm sure there will be a kitty for small changes somewhere waiting to be used to clean up the lake park... I'd prefer Rhyl as the holiday park is out of town. That would suit me better as would the walk on the beach. Awesome comparison and the councils ought to take note. Even Towyn as good can always become better! Great video. 💖😎🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿

We went to Rhyl last year and weren’t quite sure what to expect. We stayed at Sunnyvale site and I do have to say that we loved it! 3 mins to the beach and 3 mins to a pub!

Towyn has a small area near by called kimnel bay its mostly residential(with local shops having only a tad tourist side) but there you have golden sands holiday park which has direct access to a beach in my top 3 (black rock sands and barmouth being the other two)
In general i love welsh beaches theyre worlds away from the (still good) nw english beaches such as crosby,formby and southport
Can't beat north wales really though i may venture to mid and south one day and if i can stomach the 6 to 12 hour journey again cornwall may get a 2nd visit too
We totally agree with you on Welsh beaches. We’ve talked that part of the coast path so know the stretch you mean. Barmouth and Black Rock are two of our favourites too. We also love Aberffraw on Anglesey. We’d love to explore Cornwall too, just need to do it out of season! Cheers for watching 🍻
For parks in Rhyl you need to walk to the Coronation Gardens and the Botanical Gardens which are both accessible from Vale Road and Grange Road.

I've actually never heard of Towyn, but with thank you to two now i do! Great video. Nice to see more of Rhyl, but i'm won over now on Townyn due to Crapland, that is all! Crapland was genius!! Loved it. We’d never stopped in Towyn before, it’s always a place you drive through, but it had a lot to offer - just the beach in rhyl beats it hands down! We saw the thumbnail for this pop up while we were on a Sunday afternoon walk, literally made us laugh out loud🤣👌. We couldn't wait to get home and watch it, and it didn't disappoint, what a brilliant video, so much fun to watch. It made our heads hurt a little bit when we tried to think of how you guys put this together, switching between Rhyl and Towyn🤯. But as usual, you pulled it off seamlessly🤗👌. We couldn't decide whether we have ever been to Towyn, maybe when we were children. To be fair, both look like great seaside seaside resorts, but the beach at Rhyl would pip it for us too ⛱️ 😊👍. Hi both that was interesting to compare and I'd heard that Towyn has had a lot done to it recently as well as Rhyl having money invested in it. These places are not too far away from both us and you but if I had to choose, I think I would stay at Towyn but Rhyl does have the best beach and I do quite like Marine Lake. We have enjoyed a bike ride from Rhyl through Kinmel Bay then along to Towyn on the coast 😃👍~ Anna

@@peterwilliamskelhorn6675 we have very fond memories of the fair and Sun Centre from back in the 80s and early 90s. Do you remember the monorail? It was a great town and resort back in the day, I hope they spend some money on the place and make it great again. Cheers

Tbh it doesn't really matter if you stop at Rhyl or town because if you hop on a bus (as long as it's not rush hour) it should only take 10 minutes to get to the other

This is brilliant guys, very ambitious, very well constructed, the scale and quality of this idea is just another level again. Ah thanks guys. This vid was Wills idea and was a lot of fun to make. We didn’t actually know who was going to win until we did the edit, I was handing out points randomly on the day! The hand-sanitising was necessary - I had furry hands after playing!! We’re not the best food reviewers at all, but we dabble in it now and again! @@PostcardAndAPint furry hands! Yes even before covid was a thing, a hefty dose of sanitiser was necessary when visiting the slot machines! Ive just found out that Whitby has a massive retro arcade hidden away above one of their arcades, i’ll be packing extra sanitiser on that trip! Definitely worth a dabble in food reviews, even the massive channels started off small and we are noticing a few travel channels that do food reviews which take off. Its going to be any excuse for us not tp drive 7/8 hours to do a hike that nobody gives two hoots about and enjoying the food is a real bonus. Those donuts looked divine and made us very hungry! It was a great comparison and has made us want to visit both places.

Sadly our council in their wisdom took the away all the good things. There are other green space...brickpond and botanical gardens...but a bit of a walk. But at least this was as usual focused on the "up" side. Cheers me dears

Great job with the review. It'd have to be really hard making resorts seem even a little bit appealing. So you almost had me with donuts. I can only go on the looks by Towyn's was a little bit too perfect and round whereas Rhyl's looked like something I'd buy. The burgers both looked pretty sad. Marginally better looking than Maccas but I'd have to give it to Rhyl because the meat didn't look as dry and limp as Towyn's. Rhyl's beach did look better but I associate it with too many sad memories. RIP Susan. We have a funny relationship with fun fairs in Oz. They're usually temp jobs set up in holiday towns and... they are just run by the dodgiest individuals. If you can't find your usual dealer they're probably working at their other job at the fun fair. They do not give AF. It is all about fleecing you. The rides are expensive and everything else is a borderline scam. I have to edit my "review" of one we went to a year or so ago. The kids loved it. I couldn't wait to leave. Fairly certain I caught everything Rach was sanitising her hands for by just being there.
But enough whinging. This video was comedy gold. So well put together too. More donut reviews please.

Susan’s children live on in Rhyl and are ready to take on the Red Arrows as they return for the airshow this year! Towyn is somewhere we’ve only ever driven through before, so it was quite the revelation when we stopped. The beach at Rhyl is stunning, I just wish they’d smarten the poor place up a bit. Just watched and I am shocked at just how much some of the rides were! @ 2.45 you can see a price list 25 credits needed to have a ride on the ghost train and 25 credits to ride the waltzer. if you did both you need 50 credits. The poster next to that show you can buy 55 credits for £40 so that works out a nearly £20 for one ride. They are having a laugh! Who can afford that, do the rich and famous frequent this fair?
It's 2.5, so it did work out comparable to other fairs we've been to. Fairs are still pretty expensive compared to how they used to be, but this one had good rides and was fairly priced. Cheers for watching 🍻

It’s such a shame how Rhyl council have mismanaged the town from pre-monorail days. It could really be a jewel of a town. Still, things have improved over the last 10 years so 🤞
