  • Last week on Embroidery Hub, Willy taught you how to embroider a silk tie and bundle it with other items to make a great Father’s Day gift. This week, he’s going to show you how to create the other items from the bundle. He’ll explain the proper way to embroider a silk handkerchief and the cuff of a dress shirt sleeve using the 8-in-1 device.
After publishing the last Embroidery Hub episode, we received so many requests from our viewers asking us to show how we embroidered the shirt cuff and silk handkerchief from the Father’s Day bundle. And so for this week’s episode, we are giving our viewers exactly what they asked for!
First, let's break down your profit potential with this project.
We purchased the silk handkerchief featured in this video from Amazon as part of a set of 6 ties, 6 handkerchiefs and 6 cuff links for $37.99.
On the last episode, we cover how you can make around $120 profit if you customized the entire set along with a white dress shirt. You can find that episode in the description below.
But for this episode, you can either sell the handkerchief separately or with the white dress shirt as part of a bundle.
Removing this handkerchief from the set, it costs around $3, but you can also find wholesale silk handkerchiefs online for $1.50. If you were to just sell a custom embroidered handkerchief on its own, its market worth is around $8, which would leave you with $6.50 profit.
The dress shirt was purchased separately from Ross for $7.99. A dress shirt with a custom-embroidered sleeve can sell for $20, leaving you with a profit of $12.
If you choose to sell these two items as a bundle, it would cost you $9.50, which you could sell for $25-$30 and profit $15-$20.
Bundling these two items would cost your customer less than if they bought them separately. It will also allow you to sell more products in the long run.
Remember, if you want to learn more tips like these, join us this year at DecoSummit! You’ll learn how to master custom apparel methods, effectively price items and maximize profit in your business. You can find the link to our event below!
Now let’s get on to the embroidery.
For this project, we are using the MT-1501 with the extended table. Since we are only embroidering the cuff of the white shirt, the extended table will help hold up the rest of the fabric and avoid any registration issues.
When installing the 8-in-1 device, make sure to choose a frame that fits the sleeve and then you’ll probably want to use a smaller one for the handkerchief.
For the sleeve cuff, we are using adhesive tear-away backing. Make sure to stick the backing under the frame with the adhesive side up. Next, open the sleeve and place it around the frame. Make sure the sleeve is adhering to the adhesive tear-away and secure any excess fabric with binder clips.
TRACE! Never forget to trace your design before starting the embroidery. Once you’ve double-checked that your design will fit within the frame, press start.
When you’re ready for the handkerchief, you can quickly and easily change out your frame on the 8-in-1 device for one that fits the handkerchief. You can learn more about this device by clicking the link below. Repeat the same process with the adhesive tear-away backing and secure the fabric with binder clips.
For this silk handkerchief, you’ll need an additional piece of water-soluble topping to lay right on top of the already-secured handkerchief. This will ensure clean embroidery and prevent the lettering from sinking into the delicate fabric.
Once you’ve cleaned up your garments by tearing away any backing, you’ll be ready to add some great items to your embroidery shop!

So for every embroidery job do I have to get like this I have to get something digitized? Or is there a way I can do the design in my machine?

    • @ricomatv
      @ricomatv  Před 4 lety

any design you want to embroider needs to be in a digitized .dst format. You can pay a digitizer to do the work for you or learn to do it yourself on a digitizing software. Ricoma machines all come with Chroma digitizing software in the all -inclusive package. This software can is downloaded onto our computer and after the digitizing is complete the design can then be transferred to the machine.
