Tristan, I've mentioned so many times how much I love your videos and personality.
This video though, was so touching. We've heard you mention family, but there was more depth this time and it's so cool to see how you got your love of mountains.
And the fact you took the book up there was very special to me, it gives us an even deeper view of who you are as a person.
Really appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing
Your Dad may not physically be watching your videos anymore, but I guarantee you his spirit is now out there with you enjoying the view from the other side.
    RIP to your Father! 💙

A fantastic video with amazing scenery - a wonderful tribute to your dad. I climbed the main summit of Mt. Timpanogos in September of 1980 as a college student. I was eating breakfast in the dorm cafeteria and was talking to some people I didn't know, and they said they were planning on climbing the mountain and asked if I wanted to join them. I said yes, and it was one of the most amazing hikes I've done. Thanks for sharing this today - it brought back a lot of good memories!

This video hit really close to home. Thank you for sharing. I lost my dad to COVID last year. He was 67. Ironically, he and my mom were RVing through Utah and came down with COVID in Provo. I flew out there (first time I had been to Utah) and took them to the hospital and helped take care of them. My dad's view out of his hospital room was Mt. Timpanagos. He spent the last two weeks of his life viewing that mountain. So, your video sharing about the loss of your dad and the significance of that mountain really hit me hard. I feel for you and the pain that you are experiencing with the loss. I will say a prayer for you and your family. I just became a subscriber to your channel a couple of weeks ago and I think God had a hand in leading me to your channel at this time. It meant a lot. Really appreciated this video!

Tristan, I really loved this video, more so than all of the others that you have done. Not because it was the most beautiful mountain that you have been to or the highest or The most difficult. No, I love this more than all the others because of your personal connection with your father and your grandfather and this mountain range.
I thank you for talking about your father and grandfather and the very personal connection you had with this mountain! I am sorry to hear about your dad's passing and how quick it all happened.
I know that somewhere he is smiling at you for revisiting this mountain and he would have loved to watch this video that you have created in essence in memory of him and your granddad.

My dad instilled the same love of the mountains in me growing up. We live in the Central Valley of California so I grew up in the Sierra Nevada hiking, fishing and camping all over. I’m 37 now and it’s still my favorite place to be. My dad is still alive but he’s not in great health so we can’t do the same things we used to do together but we still get a fishing trip of 2 in each year. I’m instilling that same love for the mountains with my 3 daughters now as we spend a lot of time camping and visiting Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite and other places. I have even got my wife into backpacking and we have done some awesome trips together over the years. It’s one of the best gifts you can give someone, bc it’s the gift that keeps on giving. It never gets old being up there, in fact I think it just gets better as time goes on. Thanks for another great video! They’re something I look forward to each Saturday morning. Take care Tristan!

My daughter, who passed away back in 2014 loved the times we climbed Timpanogos peak together. Peak bagging was something we had done together when she was going through some tough times. Now I climb Timpanogos on occasion to feel close to her, but haven't been able to do so the last few years due to health issues. It's looking good for me to make it again this coming summer though. Thanks, Tristan. Awesome vid, some wonderful storytelling. I'm so sorry about your dad passing, but I get the sense that with his book in hand, and the fact that he was reading it until he passed, he was up there with you sharing this adventure with you.
Based on some of the posts below, many of us have very fond memories of times we spent with our family members who are no longer with us, and we kind of get to relive them through engaging in the activities that we once shared with them. My late dad used to love driving a Jeep offroad, so my offroad motorcycling and mountain biking is somewhat inspired by him, and offroading in my new Subaru Forester will certainly feel familiar and inspired by him AND informed by your book. And, everytime I go fresh water fishing it's as if my dad is with us because it was an activity that my entire family enjoyed with him while camping.

Awesome video and tribute to your father. Likewise, I did a tribute to my dad this summer and took a big motorcycle trip from here in UT up through WY, MT and ID to ride the best mountain roads America has to offer. He always wanted his ashes spread in Casper, WY, so I honored that wish for him. It was nice to give him one last motorcycle ride to his favorite place in the country. I'll always reflect on that trip and it's importance to me, and even hopefully him in the afterlife. I know he was there to keep me safe on two wheels the entire trip and it was great to have him riding shotgun with me. I'm sure you felt the same way on this adventure. My own father has been gone for ten years and he instilled that great love of the outdoors in me. He lived his later years in the same town where I live, tucked up in the corner by the mouth of the canyon. My children once asked him, if he could live anywhere in the world, where would he live? His answer was that he was already living in the spot he would pick, where he could see these mountains all around him. Thanks for sharing the tribute to your father. My Grandpa always smelled of Juniper wood smoke,,so I'm tied to him by campfires. I 1st climbed the South Sister out of Bend when I was 12. My Dad and Grandpa were with me. My Grandpa was 61 and that was the last time he climbed the South Sister out of over 20 times,,but he never stopped checking out cool, beautiful places for 20 more years. I hiked to the main peak with my dad in 1954 when I was 8 years old. That was back when there was a "Timp" day when everyone who reached that "shack" on top received a button pin with the date on it. I still had mine until a few years ago. It was orange and blue. I remember having to slide down a glacier on the way down. Thanks for sharing Tristan. I had the honor of climbing Timpanogos in 1988 with my friend Trish who was killed 2 years later in United Flt 585 in Colorado Springs. She was the co-pilot. I'll forever cherish the memories.

This video made me cry at the end, when you were talking about your dad. I lost my mom almost four months ago, and much like with your dad, she is where I get my love of travel from (although she wasn't outdoorsy at all). We took many trips together and she always supported me traveling solo, and wanted to hear about my adventures when I came back. I miss her everyday.

Like your father, I have been watching your videos every Saturday morning, cup of coffee in hand, for years. This video is deeply significant for those of us that feel like we are part of your life and family through the wonder of your documentaries of your journeys. If it were possible, I would like to meet your grandfather and father, and thank them for passing down the wonder of the mountains to you, which you have graciously passed down to us. My life is richer because of you, your father, your grandfather, Cassie, and even Bowser.
Thank you for your vulnerability in sharing this video. Please stay safe out there, and know that your story is touching lives all over the world. Thank you!

This was such a beautiful and touching video. It was wonderful to learn about your connections and inspiration from your grandfather and father. I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was indeed a very special person. I loved seeing the mountain goats! Also I’m struck by how benign the mountains look from the meadows, and then morph into all that scree and drop offs as you climb them. Doesn’t look easy at all! Thanks so much for sharing your ancestors and your adventures Tristan!

Hi Tristan, Your videos are always so informative. The pure white Mtn Goats are majestic! I especially loved this one and the wonderful stories of your family, the love of your father and grandfather. How amazing to hike the very same trail where your dad proposed to your mom. Very touching!

This is a touching video. My dad passed away last January and our place was Yosemite. 3 weeks ago, me and my sisters finally returned after 25 years but, to scatter his ashes. Closing that loop felt really nice. I remember each rock feature, waterfall both ephemeral and long-term that he taught me.

Yea, I miss my dad too. We’re from Texas and didn’t climb mountains. But my dad, like your dad, pass on a legacy to me and my son also. I travel and camp from the back of a motorcycle. Godspeed to our dads.

Damn, brings tears to my eyes. My dad also was my inspiration. I climbed my first peak with him on a Boy Scout trip, East Pecos Baldy in the Pecos Wilderness and South Truchas Peak the next day. Went back as well years later. Life is short, climb as many as you can. My condolences. He may not be watching your videos, but he is watching you make the videos.

This hike and video are a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to your father. I started watching your videos in 2021, as I was grieving my husband, and your adventures remind me so much of how he liked to experience the world, especially the west. I'm so sorry you lost your dad so quickly, and far too soon. We are never ready to say goodbye to the people we love. Thank you for sharing your experience in such a personal way, it helps to process it, and it honestly helps other people carry their grief. Best wishes to you, your mom and your family.

I lost my dad just over 3 years ago and it is the hardest this that I have been through, so I completely feel for you. You are totally right he is still watching and I'm sure he is very proud. Such a great tribute to obviously a great man. Keep up the great videos and you will have a loyal viewer here. Thank you,
