Great video. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! 🙏
This is excellent, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Now you can get back to your vacation 😄
Great video bro! 🤟
Appreciate it!
Great pacing on this video Chase. Best yet, I think.
Thanks Adam! 🤘 What about the pacing do you think I did better here?
@@ChaseMaddox It’s hard to pin down. It just had a great balance of context, framework for application and examples with the 2 or 3 bar versions.
No worries. I agree that pacing is hard to quantify, so I figured I'd ask in case there was a specific thing you had in mind. Appreciate the feedback 👍
You say do two notes per string on the descend and do them from the C major scale, but which ones are you choosing? I can't seem to see a pattern.
Thanks!
Thank you for my first Super thanks, Steve! Appreciate you 🤘
@@ChaseMaddox I love your channel and lessons! You deserve many more:))
Thank you for the support 🙏 Glad you dig the lessons.
Johnny Smith!!!
John Scofield! Great video
Yes! Thank you! 🤘
Awesome! Thank you!🙏🏻👏🏻💪🏻🎸
My pleasure!
Not a strictly jazz guy, but talk with Jimmy Herring!! He did play with Jazz Is Dead, so there's that!!
Thanks for the suggestion! 🤘
what is the model of this ibanez?
The future “Chase Maddox” signature model 😉 jk it’s the AG-85 👍
Why does jazz seem to stick to the appegios rather than the scale of the key? I understand that the chord notes sound better in certain places, but if you know the scales and aim for the chord notes does it achieve the same thing? Does the appegio add something else? I appreciate that the intervals seem to me to sound a bit 'more jazz' and I am only just starting, but i find myself mostly experimenting with the scales and the chord notes and the result seems jazz enough for my non-jazz ear!
At a simple level, vocabulary of jazz mixes arpeggios, scales, and chromaticism. Most beginner/intermediate players focus too much on the scale aspect when they need to add in more arpeggios and more chromaticism. But really you want to learn the language by learning actual phrases from recordings, not just “this scale goes over this chord”
Thanks. I don't see how you choose your notes for the descending part.
Just pick 2 notes from the C major scale per string when descending
@@ChaseMaddox Thanks, so it doesn't matter? Any 2 from the C major scale.
This is not clear.. I wished he'd explained
Do you not think that lesson 1 should be LEARN THE NOTES ON THE GUITAR. 😅
Then rather than thinking of the notes when playing the arpeggios, think of the intervals?
