Definitely bind a key for sorting inventories if you haven't already; it will shave minutes off of the looting process early on, but later it is less important as you will probably have tools specially made to just break the chests.

The ‘transmog’ determines what your vault gear looks like. To tell if it’s an upgrade, you need to look at the stats compared to the one you’re using at the moment, and determine which one you think is better off of that :D

Really useful for looting chests like this since you middle click anywhere in the chest instead of trying to hit the fiddle sort button in the upper rh side.

Super excited to see you play! It’s a fun pack.
Some arbitrary clarifications (feel free to ignore):
    - the reason the you didn’t use a skill point on “bullet” is that it’s a specialization, not an upgrade. Specializations cause the ability to work differently, and can be “unlearned” at a cost. It’s not always necessary to even pick a specialization.
    - The colorful room you ran into has loads of chests and ores hidden in the paint buckets and “paint drips”

Love to see vault hunters! A couple tips:
    - The buttons at the top right of chests can have hotkeys assigned to them (Inventory Tweaks). Having a look at all the different keybinds may be a good idea as well anyway.
    - Each piece of gear has different stats rolled each time. When ever you see the chat message, you've unlocked a new skin that can be transmoged onto other ones.
    - The room @30:56 has goodies in the paint buckets/drops
    - The stone POI @32:01 has ores hidden between the vault rock, veinminer is your friend.
    - Small slimes burst into a cloud of poison when killed. You can keep them alive as they try to attack but can't deal damage.
    - The research points are made from the knowledge essence you found with a couple other materials
Don't want to say much more as EXPLORING IS FUN! Hope you enjoy!

Information for you, while the identified item might look the same after identifying it, it's stats and abilities will differe, so always check it against your current gear. When you "upgraded" your dash, you actually chose a specialised path, you didn't actually upgrade the ability, you upgrade them the same way as you aquirred it, simply click dash and go to the lower left corner, and it will state upgrade and the number of skill points it will cost.

You don’t need to put your shulker box down to fill it. Click it in your inventory and drag it over the things you want to go in there. I may have missed a step so just check with False as she mentioned it to one of the other Hermits in a different video.

    • @sleepyavo

    Another couple of tips...
    - Rather than manually pressing the sort container button, you can press the scroll wheel button instead
    - When you dash, the distance you go is determined partially by your current momentum, so if you jump and then dash, you go further
    - You can unlock stonefall as a skill for basically a water-bucket-clutch alternative (Although level one only negates half your damage, so it is better to unlock to level two)
    - Baby slimes don't do any damage, so killing them generally does more harm than good as you get poisoned as they die
    - You can apply jewels to your tool with just a regular anvil also
    - You can use dash to power your elytra flight instead of rockets
    - The village room (where you found the potatoes and carrots) has a house with a trapdoor that leads down to good chests
    - Also yes, the abilities in the second tab are active abilities, the ones in the third tab are passive abilities

    Few tips for VH
Check your gear, even if its the same model as you already have, the stats are rolled each time. You want to maximize them to make yourself stronger
Shield off hand, you cannot block with manually like vanilla shields, but instead has a block chance %
If a room look totally different to the rest of the rooms, its either a challenge room, where by mobs spawn for reward, usually a big area, or its an omega room which Mobs wont spawn in naturally and is filled with goodies. That room was the paint bucket room, and has lots of chests in all the paint buckets.
Make sure to do the quests for progression, as getting other stations up and running for vault gear and enchanting will help a lot, plus they will help you understand some of the items you find, such as gems which are powerful, but you need the tools and knowledge to know what to apply
Can't wait to watch you and the other hermits play VH. Gonna be a fun 100 days :D

In case you’re still wondering why your health won’t fill all the way up it’s because your armor adds 1 and a half hearts. The area in the vault that was random ores surrounded by vault stone is vault ore deposits so it is not a waste of time to mine them.

  • @TearsOfLa
    @TearsOfLa Před 6 měsíci +1

Since its your first time in a big modded pack like this, heres some very useful tips for ya:
when hovering over an item in your inventory, pressing "U" will give you what it is used for in crafting (like it would show that those gilded ingots make some cool blocks) and pressing "R" will show you the recipe to craft that item, good for navigating deep crafitng chains that modded likes.
The "Sort inventory" function that is on chests can be bound to a hotkey to save some looting time instead of having to click the UI button, and it can be used on any inventoy, including your own, makes organizing chest monsters signifigantly easier.
When looking at a recipe while in a crafting grid, clicking the little "Plus" icon next to it and it will import the recipe to the crafting grid so you dont have to remember the order things go in.
And here are some general VH tips that arent super intuitive:
Skills are leveled by looking at the base skill, the options under them are specializations that generally make the base ability weaker, but add new functionality (like dash -> bulet lowers its distance and makes it more expensive, but adds damage on impact)
Unlocking mods is a balancing act, getting mods makes all other mods in that category more expensive, but if they help you unlock more mods faster, it could be worth it. Sometimes its good to save up for a big mod, sometimes getting a small mod makes the big mod easier to achieve.
When entering a vault, you can open chat and hover over a modifier to get a breakdown of exactly what it is doing.
If a room in a vault doesnt look like the rest of the normal rooms, it is special and you will want to consider spending extra time there. Some are really good, liek the paint bucket room you found this episode, some are very dangerous like the gold hoard room, but even the dangerous ones have really good loot.
Normal rooms sometimes have hidden side rooms that have huge caches of loot. Keep an eye out on the minimap for areas that look like they dont belong in the normal square room shape.
Been a fan of VH since day one, so i know a lot of it is learning on the fly, but these are just some basic tips that will make the experince more enjoyable and less rage-inducing than modded, and especially VH, can be.

A common block some of the main VH test players used was Netherrack, because until you run into Nether themed vaults it is the perfect contrast for just about any theme you could run into. Another block type that is really good for just marking things (though it will essentially be impossible to mine without an end-game pick) is the Unobtainium blocks which are possible to duplicate in your 2x2 inventory crafting grid. Craft them up into blocks, then break them down into ingots; you will have more ingots than you started with.
I believe--if this hasn't been changed for the pack--that you can get your first few ingots by tossing _something_ into a lit Nether portal, and it will spit out the aforementioned unobtainium. Just press the U key on the little purple bar on the right side of your screen when searching it up, and it should tell you how you gain it... or do nothing if you (for now) can't. Not everything is necessarily easy to figure out, even with really good help mods like that.

I love the base location! The pond is a great shape, I can't wait to see what ends up in the central focal point.
As far as learning the modpack is concerned, the best way is to play! Explore the vaults, complete your quests, trade knowledge with other Hermits, and don't take the community too seriously. Vault Hunters is a broad experience, and every obstacle you encounter has multiple solutions, so of course folks tend to have OPINIONS. 😅 The only tip I'd like to offer is to take your time choosing where to spend your Expertise Points. Unless the cost has been changed in the new update, they are more expensive to reset than you'll be able to afford in only 100 days.

love it, so excited to see the hermits doing the vaults. When you're putting in things to build your crystal, you don't have to put them in individually; you can drop the whole stack onto the altar and it'll suck in what it needs and leave any leftover behind. Will save you a lot of time when it's requesting items in the hundreds or more! Have fun!

  • @Ithenna
    @Ithenna Před 6 měsíci

That colorful room you found is an Omega Room! An omega room has lots of chests and/or coins in it, and NO MOBS. The omega rooms are pretty rare, and you will always recognize them by the fact that they do not match the theme of the rest if the vault. There's a different omega room for each loot type (the library has tons of gilded chests, the mushroom room has living, the blacksmith has ornate, the pirate cove has coins, there's a mine room for ores etc.), and the paintbucket room that you found is a mixture of loot. Each paint bucket hides somewhere around 7-9 chests inside of a random type, the paintdrops in the ceiling hides vault ores in the center, and as you saw, coins are found below on the floor.
Another type of room you will come across that doesn't match the vault theme is the challenge rooms. Challenge rooms also center on a specific loot type, but the difference is that they are also filled with spawners, some of which DO NOT fizzle out like the rest of the vault, and in some cases, cannot be broken either. The dragon room for instance is particularly dangerous as it has a few unbreakable spawners inside, but the tradeoff is that it has a ridiculous amount of coins all over the floor. The x-mark room is a 50/50 shot. Dig down the center of the giant X and after a moment, it will become either a mob free ornate chest heaven, or it will be a cobweb mob filled trap that spawns mobs infinitely both above and below the X. Without a well thought out escape plan, it can be a complete death trap. Big risk, big reward.
And lastly, similar to the challenge rooms, you may find the occasional door in the side of the vault that marks a dungeon, but these are randomly assigned a difficulty which it tells you upon opening the door, and has loot scaled to the difficulty inside. They have red barriers in the doorway which allows you to pass through, but not any of the mobs, so you can always bail if you decide to take a peek and don't like what just spawned in. Dungeons are guaranteed to have a champion unlike the rest of the vault and challenge rooms that only occasionally spawn one in at random (although the odds can be significantly increased if you get a champion's abode modifier on your vault). Hope that helps, and happy hunting!

Ill join in on the vault hunters tips!
    1. Use your vein miner whenever possible! Very few are the times when you wouldnt want to mine evrything around you, whether its trees, leaves, stone or ores.
    2. You most definitely were not wasting your time mining those ores in the vault!! The ores in the vault are more rare, and required to unlock mods and craft key items within those mods.
    3. If you want it, take it! Ive definitely spent plenty of time in rooms collecting building blocks to use on my base. Its generally easier to mine all the blocks from the vault than to craft them all.
    4. Follow the quests. They will explain what most of these items are for as you collect them.
Theres really not a right or wrong way to do modded, just find whats fun for you and go at it!

So my husband and I watched like 100+ of iskalls vods when he started season 3. Something you should absolutely do is actually look at the different stats of your helmets. It's very rare to get the exact same one. The name of it is just the texture but the stats are random.
I also suggest looking into making a shard pouch this way you won't have stacks of soul shards when you kill mobs. It'll help save on inventory space.
There's also the jade function that my husband loves that shows you what a block is called (I think it's called jade) he's color blind so it helps him a lot. I just enjoy it because I'm lazy haha.
That dead end room was actually super good with a lot of loot. If you would have opened the boxes all the way you would have found tons of chests or ore. And the ore is very very important. When you find vault rock in the rooms mine it all to get the ore because there will be more hidden inside.

The small slimes poison you if you hurt them. They don’t damage you, so leave them alone.
In Vault Hunters, shulker boxes have the same mechanic as bundles in your inventory. You can drag a shulker over your inventory to quickly clean it up.
Couple things that are really awesome are pouches and magnets. Magnets pull items toward you so you don’t have to go collect them, and pouches are upgradable storage containers that can hold ridiculous amounts of items.

    Tips for Impulse! 💡❤
    1. Skills can be leveled up and also specialize. Such as your Dash. Leveling will improve the skill, but specializing changes the way it functions. (You specialized Dash>Bullet)
    2. Pick some skills that other people don't have already have. Iskall85 put Waypoints at spawn (grab 2). He's making them so you don't have too. What else can you save points on? I think a Vault Compass would be easy to ask for 🧭, and you should ask.
Who else has a Create farms? Collaborate~
    3. Take anything you want from the Vault. Decor, resources, anything you like. The vault is yours!
Bonus: 🌲 Trees have 'vein miner' by default. Break the bottom log on the tree while crouching.
Opinion: **Pouches** is very helpful. For 100 days I may never make a big storage, or pay points into a storage mod pack when I could prioritize vault running. Pouches are portable, and can get functions like auto feeding, auto pickup, and stack upgrades that hold a LOT. Even the ability to compress a block, and collect liquid. Additionally as you upgrade it you can do all of that at once. I set my hotkey to B for backpack and suggest you unlock pouches mod with knowledge.

The paint room is the room with the metal plating blocks and coins, and I'd recommend if you find the room again in future vaults, you should crack open the paint cans and droplets to see what's inside. No rooms should be with so little visible loot, and many are hidden in plain sight. Ores (the gems inside plain dark vault stones) are incredibly important for item crafting, so be sure to mine them. Take your time and have fun looting!

I am loving the hermitcraft vault hunters and you're doing so good. 2 things:
    - The heal only work in the vaults
    - Chests/storage have arrows to insert items and pull items from so instead of taking time to take out items in vaults, you can press the 'down' arrow and extract all items into your inventory

Something to keep in mind is that everytime you make a Vault Rock, it increases the requirements for the next one. This starts off slow but eventually you are going to need large amount of things. This is a pack for building farms. Build massive farms. Build useless item farms. Every time the altar asks for something new that you do not have, build a farm for it.
There is a temptation that when it asks you for 24 raw salmon to just jump in the river, wack a few, and call it good. Then a few Vault Rocks later it will ask you for 40. Then a few later it will ask for 80. Then awhile later, 400. You will waste significantly less time if you (or someone else) just made a farm the first time. Also storage is your friend. The Vault Altar pulls its reqs from a list of almost ALL vanilla blocks. It is tiered so for now everything is Overworld items but it could ask for VERY rare items and otherwise useless items that you prob don't have/didn't keep.

You can vein mine ores/stone etc. too! Like the plating block
The room you found that in has chests or compressed blocks inside the big boxy shapes~
Your new pants have armour 4 compared to your current armour 3 so even though they look the same they may given different things! I saw someone else mentioning how to compare them in your inventory.
Vault hunters is so fun, so excited to watch everyone play together!

A few things to say to help you. Some rooms are omega rooms which are better than normal rooms, you chose a specification on your dash instead of upgrading it (specifications change the way that the ability works for no cost), ores are very important to mine if you mind more of those dark stone parts in the vaults, and every piece of armor you roll will be different so look closely at the stats that are rolled

Glad your enjoying your first Modded Minecraft Foray! A couple of tips:
    1. Use bright purple wool to mark your path; in my experience only one Vault 'flavor' uses anything close to purple, so it will stand out most of the time.
    2. There's a mod called 'storage drawers' that you can unlock with Knowledge Stars, which are made from the Knowledge dust you collected and a core made with a gem you can get from ore POIs in the dungeon. It's a really nice early-game mod that you can use to organize all your vault loot, and can be upgraded to hold more stacks. (It's also got a controller; put one in a wall of drawers and you can one-click clean out your inventory into all the drawers)
    3. Every time you 'unlock' a new mod with the knowledge stars, the rest will cost more stars to upgrade. Be VERY cautious when unlocking the 'Heavy' mods, as that's a +12 every time you want to unlock a new one. (Create's probably the best to start with)
    4. Remember to check your quests! They're designed to help you learn to play the modpack.
    5. The biiiiig list of items on the right when you open your inventory is JEI. You can use it to look up items, what they are, and what recipes they are used in. Click an item to see how to get it, and right-click (Or shift-click, don't remember rn) to see how to use it. I've never seen a modpack without JEI.

Welcome to Vault Hunter Impulse! Love to see more hermits playing VH.
Small tip, u can turn on waila or Jade tooltip by pressing 1 or 0 on the numpad (help u identify what block u are facing).
Also u can fast sort target inventory with your mid mouse button, it will help spd up looting.
To level up skill, u invest skill point in the top row skills, the icon below the main skill is speciality, sometimes basic skill is better than specialized one. Personally, i like basic dash n level it up (more range, less CD, good with elytra). U can climb certain floor level with just jump dash n land. While your dash is Bullet dash, its good if u have big base dmg, but shorter range n more CD i believe...
That special room is viewer paint bucket room, it is an Omega room, no mob spawn, rare chest inside the bucket, coin in the brushes, n ore in the baloon. Its ok u miss it now. VH is a progressing modpack, u will learn alot later...
But from what i see, u are better than average Hunter for a newbie. That movement n that killing mob is kinda clean, seems like MCC experience really kickin off...
    Can't wait to see more...

The room you found where you got the plating block and the coins (nice MLG btw!), is an omega room (that means there are no spawners). The paint cans (upstairs and downstairs) have chests in them, and the paint drops (near the roof) have ores. Well worth investigating if you get another. The helmet you rolled at the end looks the same, but it will have different stats on it. A really easy way to compare vault gear is to have your existing gear equipped, and open your inventory and shift + hover over the new gear - this brings them up side by side so you can see what's different.
The knowledge essence you found is what you need to make knowledge shards and then knowledge stars - you'll need a total of 432 of it for Create, plus 48 vault diamonds, and 96 benitoite.
The only food you find in the vault that you can eat to fill your hunger is the vault sweets from the wooden chests. The burgers are used to level up, and the apples are needed for golden apples.
VH is such an awesome mod pack, and it's so lovely to see the Hermits playing it, Iskall's spent so much time and energy developing it. It's like a big warm hug watching friends supporting friends.

Great seeing you guys playing Vault Hunters :D
A few tips if you want, 1- you can use the scroll wheel button to sort the chests instead of the top right button, 2- try not killing the baby slimes, they don't hurt you but make that poison cloud if you kill them, 3- those gems in the dark stone are vault ores, they're very important for recipes and worth mining, 4- you can enchant your things way easier in this mod with just emeralds and the upgraded enchanter, 4- if you jump before dashing, you go further from the momentum, you can also use it instead of rockets once you get an elytra, 5- try getting vault tools with the workbench, they're better and can be enchanted and you can put those jewels on them too to create really powerful ones, 6- that factory room that you found is on of the rare rooms and are worth looking around for loot.
Hope this helps a little bit, remember to greed but not too much, and enjoy the first vaults, beginners luck protect you so no chests are trapped and the insurance guarantees that even if you die, you don't lose your things. Most importantly, have fun :D

I love that you're finally giving modded a try with VH. Great first solo run. Some tips for you as you start off.
    1. Continue doing those quests. They'll teach you more about the game and give valuable rewards that can help in the vaults, like potion flasks.
    2. The Heal ability only works inside vaults. Outside of vaults you regen with food like normal.
    3. Those vault ores are very important. You'll need a ton of them as you go along, so always mine them when you find them.
    4. Slimes release those poison clouds when you kill them, including when you kill a bigger one and cause it to split.
    5. Elytra can be loot in the vault, but if you check in JEI you'll see you can actually craft an elytra! And you can use your Dash ability in the place of rockets to fly.
    6. Consider using JADE. It's a mod that is included with VH. You don't have to unlock it, just press the key bind to turn it on, which I believe is Num Pad 1. It will show you on your screen what block it is you're looking at.
    7. And finally, the icons under the skills on the skill page are specializations of the base skill, that's why buying Bullet didn't cost a skill point, because it was just a specialization of Dash. And you have to use Regret to reset a specialization, so you can change them if needed.

LVL 50 here with some tips:
-The quests are very well laid out to teach you and the viewer about the pack! You can access them through the book or in your vault stats page on the right!
-Middle click is bound to sort chests so you don't have to click the tiny button on the chest UI!
-Might have already found out but you can hold shift + click and drag over items to quickly loot things!
-The places in rooms with chests are called POIs (Point of interest) and their spawners will always "fizzle" out after spawning x amount
-All gear has different stats! Always give it a look as one helmet might have more armor than another!
-The ores are very important! Benitoite, the dark blue one, is used to make knowledge stars which will unlock more mods.
-Rooms have different rarities similar to items. The room with the paint is a rarer room that has chests inside of the buckets & paint drops!

  • @jokicker
    @jokicker Před 6 měsíci

Hello there Impulse! Veinminer level 1 makes you able to veinmine 8 blocks at a time. You can upgrade it to increase the maximum amount of blocks it breaks. Ores in the vault are important since you can only find certain ores in the vault which you will need for modpacks and your quests. Knowledge essence is one of the materials you need to craft knowledge stars. Knowledge stars give you 1 knowledge point when used, so you will need 6 if you want to unlock create. Each armor piece and weapon you get from the vault is unique, even if they look the same the stats on them are different. So it is handy to look for the helmet with the stats you prefer. Hope this helps!

Dash can be used more effectively if you jump and dash while your in the air. When you get an elytra, you can dash while flying and it acts like a better rocket.
That colorful room with the plating blocks is what's known as an OMEGA room. These are rooms that don't fit the theme of the vault you're in. Omega Rooms are pure LOOT. Loot everything! There are no mob spawners in Omega Rooms, so unless you have some chasing you, your free to loot.

The most important tip: The model/appearance of vault gear is independent of the stats and abilities it actually has. The tooltip has all the information. For example your sword has rolled Healing Cloud, which means when you hit a mob you have a chance to create a lingering potion cloud that heals you and other players.

Best tip for VH is place a block that’s different like concrete or something on the right side of the doorway as you enter each room. Then you can find your way back. I always go straight all the way to the end, turn left one room and turn left again and go back. So now I’m one left of the main line. Don’t loot the first room and save it for on your way back. That way if you get back early you can loot it before leaving.

    @Cxrm3n Před 6 měsíci

I don't have the PC to be able to play VH but i've watched so many hours of others playing it. I hope you have fun with it!
I've got a few tips that i've gained from watching others play:
Vaults generate with various POI's (points of interest) such as chests (wooden, living, ornate, gilded), ores, coin piles, dungeons, treasure rooms, etc... They can also generate with special rooms like the colorful paint room you encountered. Had you kept breaking through the plating blocks, you probably would've found either chests, coins, or ores in those paint bucket looking structures. Some special rooms are more rewarding than others and
Each POI is as valuable as the others. Ores are valuable to go for with a silk touck pick for both inventory management but also because some ores have the chance of not dropping anything, so it's a gamble on smelting the ore for one or using a fortune pick (with the fortunate expertise) to gain one or more. Ores can be used to craft things to help with crafting gear, leveling up, and they go hand in hand with some mod recipes.
Each chest can contain a variety of items that can help with leveling up your player, leveling up/making gear, and getting treasue for mods or future vaults.
Coins are used to buy back your items when you die and lose your stuff and can also be used for crafting/upgrading/transmog(changing the look of) gear so they are just as valuable as the chests and ores.
Inventory management will quickly become a problem with this mod so after investing in the vault compass, it'll be beneficial to get either better storage for the vaults or better storage for when you're outside of vaults.
If i can make a suggestion, i'd say to craft a soul shard pouch as soon as possible. the pouch can hold an infinite amout of soul shards which are the purple looking shards that drop from the mobs you kill in the vaults. Those soul shards can be used at a table known as black market as a currency to buy some valuable items that can show up in there.
Vault Hunters can seem very overwhelming at first but the quest book is truly helpful for getting your bearings with the mod and does a good job of explaining and going through a gradual progression of the mod. I'd say the only downfall to VH is how many keybinds you're going to need😅
    Happy Vaulting!!

Vaults are a great place to collect blocks for decorating your base. Although the Plating Blocks you liked are very cheap to craft with iron. But if you see some blocks you like, take 'em! The 25 minute clock can feel like a lot of pressure, but that's plenty of time to be flexible with your priorities. I recommend looting any living chests you see, because that's how you get knowledge to unlock tech mods like Create. Also, any vault ores, those are important crafting materials for everything in the mods.

Huge tip for anyone playing. Invest early into animal pens. Only requires vault stone, glass and fences but makes peaceful animals insanely easy. Also modular routers is arguably one of the most powerful mods in the pack outside the main mods like create imo and can do so much automation if used correctly, including emptying entire pouches in seconds.

  • @CoockieJarr
    @CoockieJarr Před 6 měsíci

I recommend starting off with drawers as your first storage mod (not necessarily the first mod all together). It is a good first time mod-player intro and is not dependent on any other mods to be used, but will work with technical storage mods later on. One downside is it is quite expensive in Vault Hunters, but that seems to be more or less global anyway.
Excited to see you play this!

The dash is omnidirectional, so if you’re careful with your stone landing or use an elytra you can boost upwards and into flight or at least avoid the fall damage

IMPULSE!!! I was so excited to see you in this series I hope you feel better so soon! And you’re so smart I’m sure you’ll learn it all in time but I definitely have a couple early tips for you!!!
When you’re looking at any gear item make sure you look at all the stats (base stats, implicits, and explicits) and if you hold shift it will compare it to your currently equipped item and give you more info!
Also, when you spend your expertise and eventually your knowledge make sure you read through all of them! Skills can be regretted and respec’ed. Expertise and knowledge CANNOT! Fortunate and Bounty Hunter are the popular early picks because gems do be necessary and bounties do be powerful!
But my biggest tip is when in doubt, hoard, but also don’t be too afraid of wasting materials. As you progress, you will get more and more loot in each vault. 40 is respectable for a very first solo vault and before you know it you’ll be looting over 100 and then over 200 chests per vault!!!!
You’re gonna do so good in this pack I can’t WAIT to see what you create!!!!!
