At 27:30: the snapping to the trees is happening due to a new snapping option in the tool bar called "Snap to object surfaces"(or something along those lines). It is the icon that is inbetween the grid icons with an right arrow pointing to a diagonol surface(the hollow square). I was also very anoyyed by this "feature" at first. Hope this helps.

Fun fact: The inventor of the skyscraper intended it to actually increase green space by being used the way you made that apartment complex, but sadly that's not how people used it.
LeCorbusier had the same idea with his Radiant City scheme: he said 12% of the land will be built up on and 88% shall be free, for parks, recreation and conservation. It didn't work out that way! 😭😭😭
Of course, the first SKYSCRAPER was the 9 story "Insulae" style buildings, built in Rome 12BC. Lotsa green space intended then.
There isn't an "inventor" of the skyscraper..
@@tauforlife I've can't remember where, but I've read that the skyscrapers was intended to increase green space by going up and maintaining the same density, rather than increasing it. However, according to Wikipedia, the man credited with designing the first skyscraper is apparently William Le Baron Jenney.

You should get a macro pad for all the shortcuts, a stream deck can also have custom commands for any program and has a visual element to it.
I do have one, but I was hoping I could use my spare mouse button for it :-)

14:37: The cemeteries (upgrades) also add entertainment. Makes sense to me. Something to keep in mind when deciding on death care options. I usually go for the crematoriums.

17:00 use the eye dropper tool to the left next to find it/move it then click on the building. That'll copy it. I use it on signature buildings as the game only lets you place one so that helps if you wanna do a row of condos or something.
@biffa that sort of apartment complex usually has parks in it with a comunal pool and kids play area
Here's what I'm thinking: use invisible pedestrian bath behind those tree planters and benches (in front of the apartments) so that it looks like people walk on a extended sidewalk.
Also use the surfaces to connect the high school and college back sides. Then maybe an invisible path could create a connection between the two?
I also walked into the issue the busses are to big for a turn in the one direction buslane, I sorted that to connect them with a small bend road instead of connecting straight roads with a sharp angle

That cluster of apartment block homes seems a bit dystopian. Would love a more walkable neighborhood vibe with lots of green space access
I know it looks pretty but that path to the school would be absolutely terrifying to walk down. Huge trees closely planted, I'd be scared of being jumped!

As a nod to real life, a path between the high school and college would be nice; as a high school student, I'd be kinda miffed at having to go all the way 'round all those trees when I'm late for an extension class - those schedules can be quite tight.
Bro loves car parks!! I built a city in skylines 2 with 600,000 population and zero car parks 😂 nobody seemed to mind haha..

Lol, I think you may have re-blocked your expansion for your clinic again with a bus stop...also before you go to far consider the schools need expansion space too, I think....love the detailing!
The apartment blocks are highly likely to have underground parking so not so visible and a shared garden in the middle. If the is any space.
Those fences will prevent garbage trucks from dumping the bins. Need a gate on each side

At 11:30 you get a crash and talk about MoveIt and the zoning tool. If you click any building or asset first then click MoveIT the game will crash. If you click MoveIT and then the building/asset no crash.
you should do more traffic separation for walking people!
Idea👍🏿: It would be a good idea if at most three episodes from now you build the first small skyscraper that has been bought by a rich person to build offices and stuff there.
Just my two cents here but... 1) the trash bins behind fences. Can trash trucks actually get to them? and 2) you added bus stops to the business area but didn't run any to the housing areas. Maybe add a stop or 3 so the people in the houses can get to the shops that are complaining about lack of customers?

Something I don't understand, as someone who grew up in stairwell living, how do they figure the realistic population in the buildings?
The first area you built where you locked the housing, has 6 floors on either side of the stairwell. This would mean there should be 4 people per floor, per side as an average. That would be 24 people per building.
Now looking at the buildings, you can see they are actually quadrant. Meaning there should be 4 ppl per floor, per quadrant as an average. So in that instance it would be 96 people per building.
And that doesn't include the brick colored buildings with 7 floors.
Those would be some luxurious apartments if each family had an entire floor to themselves!

You know with paths now connecting with apartment buildings along with roads you you could say that now would be easy to put housing projects the right spot like in real life.
I don't think, there will be a lot of people using the bus to travel from work to the clinic. Maybe you should rather connect the industrial area directly with the households. Further I would have made a seperate line for schoolbusses, that serve all three schools.

To get rid of the white screen, when you have your tool selected, click the X in the top left corner. Sometimes you need to close the panel on the left, sometimes you need to click the X ABOVE the panel (currently hiding between mod buttons). 😎
I use a mod called toggle overlay now, much easier 👍
27:25 I don't think that road junction is legitimate. I think it's another cocked up one. If you look at the shape of the pedestrian crossing before you connect the road, it isn't straight, which i think might be an indicator that the road is screwed up there. Any connecting is going to fail and usually causes the road to look wrong. Here it looks almost right, but not exactly, which is why the buses 'didn't get the memo'.
Oops Biffa forgot to connect the route to the new stop. Please fix the trash bin area... it is getting quite pungent behind the pretty fences.🤣🤣

Was this video made a few weeks ago? The lane direction tool was removed from the Traffic Lights mod because the Traffic mod was released......
Edit: And then I got to 20 minutes in, and explained.... indeed, part of the video is older! :D Now you have the traffic mod and extra detailing! Never mind I said anything, watch the WHOLE video before commenting! :D

Of course, the lane control that was part of the Traffic Light mod has been removed in favor of the new Traffic Mod. BTW, got my game back up. Deinstalled, deleted ALL CS II directories I could find, and reinstalled.
When you switch to the NA bus stop in the turning loop at the end, did you reconnect the bus route to it? It looked like all the buses were just going past it.

Biffa I think the bus stop didn't automatically put the stop back. Don't you have to 'drag' the line onto the stop so it does a little indent? And when you added the little path, did you remove the entire stop?

Those large dumpsters will need truck access. The fences look good, but not practical for emptying the bins.
What setting or mod is used to change the opacity of the zoning? I'd rather have clear zones like this rather than the white boxes that hid everything beneath it.

my issue that anarchy mod is not appearing ingame, though other mods are working perfectly. I'm subscribed for all the dependencies, but anarchy mod and better buldozer are the two mods that is not working for me :(
Your video really hyped me to start with the game again. It chrashed over 20 times and I’m deeply disappointed. I love the game so much, but that really takes out all the fun. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
If you're using mods, you need to check them out carefully. If not then I'm not sure. I rarely have crashes, that one in the video was solved with a move it update.

EDIT: That urban apartment block looks like tenements in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx in New York City and usually they don't have parking lots in back, usually there's just a vacant lot with weed trees ("volunteers").

Hi Biffa! Very long time watcher first time commenter. I have loved your videos on Skylines (1) and loving the new content. I have held off for quite a while getting CS2, mainly because of the various issues it has had from the begining. My question is that now things seem to have gained momentum and are improving do you now think that it is worth getting?

Wish I could keep CS2 running for more than 5 minutes at a time. Lots of people experiencing same but not reporting other than going back to CS1. Is it a RTX graphics card issue? Is it my i9 processor (heard there's problems with games)? Nowhere near using 70% of free non-OS RAM so that's not an issue... Wish I knew because I'd love to play it again.
P.S. NO ERROR MESSAGES EITHER!!! Not on screen, game logs, Windows logs NOTHING!!! Just like what happens at 11:17
That was a mod problem with move it, as explained in the video. So something that can be fixed. 1) dont use move it or 2) get the pre-release version that works better :-)
Not enough costumers means the cost for the things they can buy are too expensive. Maybe the importcost are to high for the industry because of too long Import ways or too less industry that can Produce for commerial. Its just a Economy Problem that you need to Balance a bit😅

MoveIt crashes on me almost 100% of the time if I have another tool or something open when I press "M" to activate MoveIt. I no make sure to clear all tools before opening the MoveIt tool and haven't had a crash in several hours of gameplay. I don't know if it is the MoveIt mod specifically that causes the crashes.
did i miss an episode of you building this place? i thought you just used this one as a temporary one for the mod update thing the other week and what happened to the series that you was doing few months back?
We had to start again when all the mods moved to PDX mods, thisis episode 2. The first one was titled something like I started a brrand new city. You can't miss it ;-)

I thought to have a fresh start to the game, completely uninstalling and deleting everything, and starting from 0.
After I re-subscribed to some of my favourites mods, I was disappointed to see, that two crucial mods are not appearing ingame (although the game states that all of my mods are loaded successfully)
These mods are the following:
- anarchy mod
- better buldozer
- find it (although I don't find it currently utterly useful or needed)
(every mod has it's dependencies downloaded)
Does anyone else having similar difficulties?
I have no error message or anything that could help. I've seen another discussion where players said to load the game 2-4x times and then the mods will appear. Well some mods are there since the first try, others don't want to load. :(
