I can already see many uses for Sundered Isles in Starforged, especially assets regarding crew for those who wanted to play Star Trek but only had Crew Commander and/or Companion to flesh out the crew. Certainly, it's simply a matter of tweaking the assets that already exist, but it's good to see such codified in the rules to enable a bit of consistency. It's a nice edition whereas Ironsworn focused on land-based trials and tribulations, Starforged involved space...Sundered Isles fills the niche between the known and the unknown giving expeditions into the wilds a much needed fleshing out. Plus, I like pirates and look forward to the continuing adventures of the Dread Pirate Roberts (that's inconceivable!).
It seems supremely hackable for sure. Looking forward to seeing what people do with it.
Excellent video! Odds/Evens for Cursed would be so fun, even if you just do it for significantly spooky moments! I think this is a wonderful home rule. I've heard a lot of chatter about implementing the Cursed Die into Starforged, so we get to make cursed oracles for that game!

I haven't been paying particularly close attention to the progress on Sundered Isles because I wanted to be surprised with a more finished project. Seeing the things I missed while looking to the side is making my creative brain buzz with delight.

Couldn't wait for the book to get finished, so I started a pirate campaign last week! So far, it's awesome. So awesome that I just started a new Starforged campaign this morning incorperating the Sundered Isles assets and ship-to-ship combat. ARRRRR!!!

I’m excited by this and am planning a low magic Sid Mieir’s Pirates type adventure. I’m planning to combine it with The Radiance Adventure Engine by Oddfish Games. I’ll probably use the oracles and vows from Sundered Isle but the story stages from Radiance. I’ve already got the digital version with Starforged but will be backing the kickstarter to get it as a book. I’m also hoping there’s going to be an oracle expansion like StarSmith.

Actually, the Twin Fates are meant to replace the two challenge dice of the action rolls, so they can provide additional inspiration for each Weak Hit.
And I know SI is not meant to play with original Ironsworn but man, I'm taking Cinder and Wraith to the skies of my Ironlands ⚔️

Was gonna play this anyway but you mentioning optional treasure and upkeep rules sold me on it even more.
Always felt that starforged was really missing something like that whenever I tried to play characters who were a bit more grounded.
I really feel like the Ironsworn system has developed a really great toolset for any type of story people want to tell. It’s fantastic.

I wasn't going to get this, at least for now, seeing as I haven't played as much Starforged as I'd like. After seeing this... I went and backed it on kickstarter. OOPS

Yes, the music is a piece I commissioned way back in 2022 when we thought the game was supposed to come out! The new art work is from then too. And yes, good spot, I am an AHLCG player, but don’t own much beyond the core and Dunwich. LCGs can be slippery slope…

Definitely agree on the Interludes, too.
One school of thought says, "If it's not in the book then it's not in the game". Another idea is that an RPG is only the set of game structures and setting details in the book.
At the very least, the structures (in the alexandrian sense of the word) that are laid out in the book really define what kind of experience a player will have with the game. So if the book has game structures for combat, then players will have a fight-y experience. If the book has game structures for exploration, that shapes what a lot of players do with the game, and changes their experience of it.
So the Interludes are like a very light structure that focuses player attention on the lowkey and character-building moments. This is a great way to shape the game experience for the best part of storytelling-- the characters!

@@elnovato-8165 I’ve experimented with space hulk exploration, using the rules for randomizing them from Wrath & Glory. It went great, right up until an elevator delivered my guy right into the middle of three genestealer nests.
It's interesting that it's considered an expansion for Starforged, and NOT ironsworn.
It’s based on the Starforged ruleset, which has changed quite significantly since OG Ironsworn. I believe a new version of Ironsworn is in the works that will tie all 3 games together neatly.
@@thebadspot On twitter the Dev teased a new setting book for an urban setting, so it will probably be quite a while before we get Ironsworn 2e.

Super hard for me to NOT play Pirate Borg when I want to solo a pirate game. Pirate Borg ISN'T a solo game. But all the Borg games are super easy to Solo.
