    Outstanding instructional thank-you very much! I have owned my '95 Mustang GTS for 19 years now that I love and am restoring.... there are Mustang forums that show how to retrofit these seats into my chassis. A local salvage yard has a 2013 mustang with airbags deployed.They are cloth seats (but still in very good conditon).... So, before I buy them, I wanted to know how to disassemble the seat to have the seams repaired....this is a good tutorial because I do not want to put "Boy Racer" style seats from the aftermarket in my car.

      Tascaparts.com is the Webb site I use. I don't think 2012 mustang had seat air bags if that is what you are looking for. It is unlikely you will find any use airbags for seats. If you are looking for used airbags other than seats, check with local junk yards that have on line search systems.

    Had a question about seat airbags, I want to put another set of seats in my car, they are from a car that one year newer, still same car as mine but different color, better material seats than the ones I have now, my question is I know about disconnecting the battery before removing reinstalling the seats, does the airbag in the new seat have to be "coded" to the vehicle?

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  Před 2 lety

      Check to see if both air bags have the same part numbers to make sure they are compatible with the comparator. In most cases the Computor will self program when the battery is reconnected. If not you can have your local dealer do this.

    i actually picked up a very comfortable bucket seat from the junk yard to turn it into a desk chair, and my main concern is that that air bags might randomly go off at my desk and looking at how i can disable or remove them since they never went off.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  Před 2 lety +2

      The air bag can only go off with an electrical charge like a fire cracker needs to be lit with fire before it explodes. During an accident satellite switches sense the direction of the impact and send a high voltage current to the approiate air bags. Since the wires were disconnected to remove the seat there is no chance of deployment unless someone intentionally hot wires it. You can always tape of the wire plug ends if you think someone might try that.

Can I just leave the airbag in and unplugged it has not been deployed. I think I have identified the large connector that provides the power to the adj and lumbar. @@bryanstettler1147 I would just tape off the air bag plug so you don't accidentally set the air bag off while wiring the rest of the electric seat options.There are sites on CZcams to show you how to wire electric seats. You can use a 12v battery to chase out the various circuit operations once you find the ground wire.

    • @douglasfernandez7996
      @douglasfernandez7996  Před 5 lety +5

      Sorry but I did not think doing a video on installing the air bags was necessary because it is just a reverse action of the taking them apart. The important information I was trying to tell was where all the attaching parts could be found and how they came apart. If you are attempting to replace your own air bag and are not sure I suggest you take a photo of each disassembly step and make a note on how it came a part. This way as you reassemble each step you can refer to how it works. You could also watch the video in reverse by just stop starting it at each point of interest .The only part you have to be carful of is attaching the white. plastic strap clamps that are attach to the newly sewed seam. [ These are shown a little after 8 minutes into my video ] They must be on their respective sides as they wrap around the frame or you will not be able to attach them. They hold the cover in place as the air bag deploys and rips thru the seam. After the cover is on you will have to slap it around with your palm to seat the cover and reattach the velcro. Hope this helps you
