I truly miss the gospel music of the late 70’s and all through the 80’s and early 90’s. The Hawkins Singers and Love Center Choir were the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! R.I.H. Walter and Edwin Hawkins. You are missed.

Look at how beautifully modest the choir members are dressed. Nobody is wearing a body con where you see every thing . I miss Mass Choirs so much.

I just love those battleship women with those rusty iron beautiful voices! They could sing all night without a mike and still sound great. Jesus is the way!

I attended Bishop Walter and Edwin Hawkin's first Church 89th and E. 14 St. Both he and Edwin played organ. Both were great singers and organist.

Yes yes yes! I noticed that too. You see how she smoothly entered when it was her time? She had a lot of vocal controll...tgen once the mood of the song changed towards the vamp she rocked and worked until those people came on stage to stop everything. Why is people so concerned with time that you quench the Holy Spirit when it is working and moving?

Thanks so much for putting this up. Back in New York City were jammin' all these songs. The Hawkins, along with Andrae Crouch set a whole new standard for gospel music. There were and are certainly a gift to this mean, old world.
